Goals So Impossible
There is no challenge too difficult, no goals too impossible, as the ones we set for ourselves. This statement is seen as one of profound thought and brevity. I see it this way myself. However, for the most part, I completely and utterly disagree with it. This statement is seen as one of profound thought and brevity. I myself happen to see it in this way. However, for the most part, I completely and utterly disagree with it.
Some might say that the statement is true, and that my statement fails to take into consideration the philosophical implications of it. But from a practical standpoint, the simplest and easiest to attain goals are the ones we set for ourselves, because humanity's, and especially me and my family's,
"The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it's possible to achieve the American dream."
Some people say that with dedication, persistence, and time people can accomplish any goal. Others say that people are limited in what they can accomplish and need to be realistic when setting goals.
Former baseball player Tommy Lasorda once said, “The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person’s determination.” The journey of our life is full of winding paths and concrete obstacles whose sole goal is to slow us down, and to attempt to block us from reaching our ultimate goal in life, whatever that may be. These barriers are there for several different reasons, whether it be mental or physical. Sometimes these obstacles are motivated by fear, other times they exist simply because we have to make a decision, and that decision can be life changing. But through our determination, and through our perseverance, we can achieve what these barriers told us was impossible, and can pursue the path in our life that leads us to our ultimate self. Throughout my life, I have had thousands of barriers stand in my path. And the only way I was able to defeat them was through conquering my fears, and breaking my limits in order to achieve excellence.
Goals are a part of everyday life. From gaining the strength to get out of bed in the morning to winning that blue medal around your neck, everybody has made a goal once in their life. Sometimes it can be as easy as saying you’re not going to eat that last cupcake on the platter in front of you or as hard as saying “Hello” to that special someone in your life that you find adorable, either way you have made a goal. It’s also important to remember there is short term goals and long term goals. Short term goals are easier to achieve and can be very helpful in leading up to your long term goals. We can even classify our goals into personal goals, academic goals, and professional goals, as well as others.
Charles Dickens and John Steinbeck in their respective novels Great Expectations and Of Mice and Men, suggest that uncontrolled aspirations are inherently negative and do not lead to success in life. Modern society encourages individuals to aspire to greatness, however we must remember not lose focus on the tasks of the present if we want to achieve meaningful
“The negative side of the American Dream comes when people pursue success at any cost, which in turn destroys the vision and the dream (F.Scott Fitzgerald).”
You create your thoughts, your thoughts create your intentions, and your intentions create your reality. ~Wayne Dyer
Goals, goals, goals they're what people think about and how they are going to achieve them in the future. My three goal in life are to get in the college of my choice, go skydiving and to get a well paying job. These three goals are important to me because they are what I am likely to achieve within the next ten years. As I grow and blossom into someone big, someone bigger than who I am today I don’t mean just physically but bigger intellectually, and more capable. These goals show me that if I want to achieve them, then I have to work hard to accomplish them.
One of the key aspects of The American Dream is effort. Thomas Edison once said “Many of life’s failures are men who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”Edison
In the article “Succeed: How We Can Reach Our Goals” by Heidi Grant Halvorson which is also the world’s leading on goal settings. When setting a life goal make sure to set the bar high but not to high so it’s difficult but not impossible. Have a little piece of goal wisdom which means when a teen imagines to lose weight and they end up losing weight. People that are successful don’t just have confidence that they will succeed, but they also have confidence that they will succeed. Some people don’t like hearing people say that they can’t succeed. There’s no way that you can’t achieve because all you need is effort, planning, persistence and good strategies to achieve your goal. You need to stay motivated to achieve. Stay focused on goals
Success, hard work, accomplishment, they are all important to us as Americans. We were raised by fairy tales and stories of great triumph and accomplishments that we dreamed that we would one day have them too. Ever since we were young we’ve been trying to achieve our “Hollywood ending,” the one where we “live happily ever after.” One man came said something that is very interesting and unique. This man was Robert Collins, and he said, “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” This quote means that to achieve success, keep doing the same little things over and over again, day after day. The big question here is is Mr. Collins correct in his statement? We all can say phrases that sound intelligent, but they don’t
If someone is going to set some goals, why not set them high? That way if you falter in reaching your goals, you are still further ahead than with not having a goal at all. Let me give you an example of my self. I love to run. Well kind of. Particularly running the 400 meter race (for those of you don’t know, that’s one lap around the track). Now if I said I wanted to set a goal of running a 400 in 70 seconds I could do that. I could go and run
One of the best ways to follow a successful path is to set goals for yourself. They are important to keep yourself on task and to get to a desired point of self fulfillment. The issue can be how to achieve goals in a successful manner. The issue is "Although people may desire or intend to attain some outcome, they are not committed to that as a goal until they are willing to invest affect, cognition, and behavior in attaining it" (Traci Mann, 2013). This is why it is important to have a set path on how to accomplish important goals. I have chosen three goals that I want to accomplish to demonstrate a Process known as SMART, to help accomplish them. There goals are that I want to finally earn a college degree(personal), I want to make it
My personal goal as a student at the University of Phoenix is to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management within the next two years. This goal is very important to me because of the impact it will have on my family, work and personal life. In my family it will set a positive example for my daughters, grandchildren, and youngest sister. My family has been a source of support throughout my years in college as I have pursued this degree while maintaining a full time job. Obtaining the degree will be an accomplishment not only for me but also for my family who has given me the encouragement to reach my goal. I would like for my grandchildren to remember their grandmother as a strong and educated woman.
My whole life I have always wanted to become a successful engineer, and graduate from the University of Cincinnati. Some of my goals in life are to go to the University of Cincinnati. Another one of my goals is to become some type of engineer. But as of right now I would like to be a aerospace engineer. To be honest I really don’t know what influenced me to want to become and engineer. But something about engineering always appealed to me for some reason. But lately my engineering teacher has had a positive impact on me and is really making me like engineering and the overall field. So I guess that Mr. Smith has influenced me into being an engineer. My plan b is to be an engineer too. But this type of engineering would just be easier to
