One of the best ways to follow a successful path is to set goals for yourself. They are important to keep yourself on task and to get to a desired point of self fulfillment. The issue can be how to achieve goals in a successful manner. The issue is "Although people may desire or intend to attain some outcome, they are not committed to that as a goal until they are willing to invest affect, cognition, and behavior in attaining it" (Traci Mann, 2013). This is why it is important to have a set path on how to accomplish important goals. I have chosen three goals that I want to accomplish to demonstrate a Process known as SMART, to help accomplish them. There goals are that I want to finally earn a college degree(personal), I want to make it …show more content…
Last comes time bound. For this particular goal, my time frame is the amount of time it takes in order to complete the next 6 classes. This is enough time for me to see if I really can accomplish my goal, as well as how long it will take in order for me to fulfill the requirements in order to make it into the Honor Society. After the 6 months, I will then evaluate and Re-Do this goal throughout my college career, and be using the SMARTER method. This same process can be applied to my personal goal of finally obtaining a college degree. To me, this is a very important goal. Accomplishing this goal will allow me to prove to myself that I can earn a degree and that I can even work my way up to a doctorate, like I hope to do someday. By applying the SMART process to this goal, I have specified it to earning my associates degree. I will know that this goal is accomplished by finishing all the requirements of earning an associate's degree, in my chosen field. This goal is achievable because I know I have to intelligence and the desire to accomplish it. It is also realistic because it is a 2 year degree and I am at a point where I can fully dedicate myself to the goal, for this amount of time. I have given myself the traditional 2 years to finish earning this degree. This is another goal that I actually plan on using the SMARTER process, so I can continue to earn higher degrees, up until I earn my PhD. Both of the goals that I have
There are two types of goals, Long-Term Goals or “Life Goals” and Short-Term Goals or “Mini Goals”. Long-Term Goals are objectives you want to accomplish in the future and requires more time to complete them. In most situations, achieving Long-Term Goals involves successfully completing a series of Short-Term Goals. For instance, one of my Long-Term Goal is to earn my PhD. For a moment, let's visualize what smaller steps are involved in accomplishing this lofty goal? First, I need to earn my Bachelor’s Degree and then my Master’s Degree before I can even apply for my PhD. You could say all of that seems overwhelming at the least, but broken down into smaller goals can put earning my PhD back into
Having regular goals are not the same as having SMART goals. SMART goals are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. Smart goals will have individuals tackling their goals and making them into SMART ones to achieve greatness. I want my SMART goals to guide me on a secure path in college where I will not have to worry about not knowing what I am doing.
Drawing characters, backgrounds, rims, cars, or trucks spends most of my pastime. In addition to drawing, I would also like to partake classes in Animation. Art directors earned $56,880 in 2000, and the highest 10% made more than $109,440 dollars. Artist work about 40 hours a week, but during busy periods, they work overtime to meet deadlines.
The goal that I established to address the element of weakness will address the need for an increase in individual student planning, specifically related to career readiness and success as well as post-secondary options. This goal addresses the attributes of a SMART goal in the following ways: Specific – I will develop and implement three classroom guidance lessons that cover the importance of career planning, the different career paths,
During the implementation of my health plan I was able only partially meet SMART goals and objectives. My goal was to reduce exposure to harmful noises (higher than 85 dB) to less than 8 hours a day. In order to meet that goal I was using an app on my phone to measure noise level I was exposed to. In the situations where it was possible I was either reducing volume or using protective devices (earplugs and noise cancellation headphones) to reduce harmful effect of noise. I was able to meet my goal only in well controlled environments where I was able to control intensity of noise. For example - when I was driving car alone I could reduce music volume in the car. However in almost all other activities, like during lectures, during walks outside and in movie theaters, I could not control intensity of noises and could not avoid those activities. So in reality it was very difficult to fully implement my health plan.
My academic goal is to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Argosy University within 36 months and graduate with at least a 3.75 GPA by successfully completing two courses every session, effective September 8, 2016. This long term goal will be achieved by accomplishing various short term objectives such as achieving positive attendance/participation in each course while earning at least 90% on all my assignments. My motivation to reach this goal is provided by both intrinsic and extrinsic sources. I pride myself on setting an example for my children to follow. I put an emphasis on never losing interest in developing new skills and remaining relevant. Additionally, I look at earning my degree as a way to boost my confidence, which has been lacking since I left the workforce to provide full time care for my children. This inward stress I place upon myself is a positive force and my intrinsic motivation. My extrinsic motivation is provided by the prospect of career growth and increased compensation. In the military, once an enlisted member attains the rank of Chief (E-7), each consecutive advancement is more difficult. Being the recipient of an academic degree gives me a competitive edge for promoting through the
In order to be successful academically there are some things we need to know, goal setting is one of them and maybe not a lot of us know how to meet educational goals without getting side tracked by other things that are going on in our life. I had no idea how much I needed to think about how I would help myself continuing my academic success until this general education class I had to take opened my mind to new ideas. Setting educational goal
Four SMART Goals regarding my courses, and degree efforts that I would make is to have a final grade of an A for each course taken, finish my degree within two and a half years, make it Connecticut to walk across the stage for graduation, and obtain a master’s degree in Human Services. I feel like if I don’t push myself to succeed, no one else will. Aiming for the final course grade of an A is attainable if I put in the effort and dedication it takes to pass each course. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to obtain a college degree. Now that I am older I feel as if I should push myself a little further and not only set out to obtain a degree, but to graduate Cum Laude at the least. That is my ultimate goal. Finishing my degree within two and a half
This goal is two parts, studying more is not set too high or too low because assignments are consistent and it is my responsibility to keep on top of them. As for graduating, this one is long term but I feel it is an important academic goal to me because it keeps my eye on the prize. I will benefit from this goal because if I study more that leads to good grades, then I can graduate and take my knowledge from school and apply it to my career and my life.
The first SMART goal that I would like to accomplish to help improve my leadership skills if barcoding all stock rooms for each department. Barcoding each department will save time, money, faster customer service, and better accuracy of ordering. The nurses would save time as well as they are not having to input a fourteen-digit number to charge just one item each time a supply is used on a patient. They can focus more on the patient.
Life is a continual learning process, which requires a strong method to develop better ways of apprenticeship. Personally, being able to obtain a higher education gives me an opportunity to be better in many ways. Everyone should have any personal goals in life in order to survive, prosper and succeed in every journey that life gives. As for me, being a University of Phoenix student, I hope to achieve all of my goals on which I have been trying to pursue and obtain through the years. They are goals that I believe I need to have to be a successful member of the society, and through attending the university I also hope to gain a more positive image of myself, build my personal growth, along with achieving
“Keep your goals out of reach, but not out of sight.” –Anonymous. All goals in life should be challenging, or a dream you have. Never set the bar too low, to make it easy on yourself, nor set the bar to high, that makes you put yourself under some much stress so it makes it impossible to reach your goal at a healthy state in mater in your life. Having goals in your life helps you picture what you want in the future and what the future has in store for you. There is a difference between the goals you want to happen soon and the goals you want to happen in the future. The goals you what to happen soon are call short term goals. The goals that you have set for your future are called long term goals. Three short term goals I have are, making it to state track, joining NHS and NSHSS, and getting my CNA. A long term goal I have is to graduate from The University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in
The speed that I am taking to stage my future goals and objectives is at a fast pace because I feel that I am already gaining experience from the internship that I am in and I am confident to move quickly to early wins. My first stage is to apply for jobs in the Human Resources field. Following that is to pass my existing classes and walk in commencements. By walking in commencement proves that I am almost to my goal of graduating college. At the end of the summer semester, I finally reach my goal of graduating college with my degree. These first few stages are realistic in the case that these dates are set by the college, but they are attainable. After graduation, I want to receive a higher position in the company that I am at with the passing grade of the SHRM exam. Once I start making more revenue, I will apply for a mortgage to be able to put in an offer on a new home. The experience that I will be acquiring with the different Human Resource positions that I receive will help me move up
Out of the three goals, (Personal, educational, and professional) I chose two of the goals that I am focusing on and that is my personal and educational goals. For my personal goals, I want to create a big picture of what I plan to do in life. Then I want to break them down in order to reach my goals, then once I have them together, then I would start working on them to achieve them. For example(Specific and Measurable goals), I plan on finding a job that has great benefits and the best rate of pay, and one that does not require working on weekends(Monday-Friday only), and not working overtime.
One of the S.M.A.R.T goal for my self is to finish my degree with a 3.8 or better. I have been doing this one week at a time by setting smaller goals for each week. The human mind is remarkably design for goal pursuit. (Masicampo & Baumeister, 2011) Goals short or long can utilize the S.M.A.R.T method to analyze the goal and reevaluate as need be for me to complete it by the due date. Being able to have a goal and measure it to make sure it is attainable is beneficial in all aspects of life from chores, savings for vacation, weight loss, school and work. Every hurdle I cross is a victory waiting to be celebrated.
