My journey to get through nursing school has been nothing short of difficult and I have learned so much about myself over the past four years. After graduating from high school, I attended the University of Iowa where I was originally majoring in athletic training to fulfill prerequisites for medical school and ultimately become a physician. I wanted to major in athletic training because I enjoyed being a student athletic trainer in high school and because it would unique and stand out when applying for medical school. Since childhood, I have spent countless hours in a hospital due to various reasons which include: watching my younger brother’s gaping wound being sewed together, supporting my mother through her battle with cervical cancer, and battling my own battle of appendicitis. These experiences come with their differences; however, they all share the fact that for many hours I was surrounded by medical technicians that were always willing to try and assist in their best way possible.
