You’ve got something better in mind, you think you personally can build a better environment, and you already have a thing for being at the right place at the right time, and you’re thinking of being self-employed. There are many pros and cons of owning your own business. Whether you are literally running your own business, or working as a contractor somewhere independently; you will very soon realize that working for yourself on your own time is not just another dead end job, it’s a way of life. If you are someone working the normal nine to five hours, and receiving a regular pay check; that’s the easiest and less time consuming way of making money. Self-employed people must always be ready to make sacrifices for the sake of your business. You won’t have time for luxury activities, family, and friends, due to working long extra hours to make up for lost time. Also, if the flow of cash slows down tremendously, you are the one getting paid last. Being a self-employed person, you must be able to get along with all kinds of types of people, from all over the world. The relationship you build with your vendors and customers must be exemplary. And the bond between you and your employees must be great or it will reflect in your personal life and definitely on the business side of things.

Therefore a person will work for themselves rather than a employer. You do not have employment rights but have to pay your own income tax and national insurance contributions.

They will not be paid through PAYE and they do not have the same employment rights as employees or workers, Self-employed people will however still have protection for their health and safety on a client’s premises, they will have their rights and responsibilities set out in the terms of the contract with the client.
