Students, after high school begin their journey into adulthood. They either go into the workforce, join the army, travel abroad, or even take time away from school. While other students continue to a higher education in majors such as biology, mass communications, musical performance, and other concentrated areas to help prepare them for careers. However, students are left with the choice of deciding which institution they should choose, such as going to a college that is close to home, or going to a college that is in another state. Middle Georgia State University, one of the several universities in Georgia differ from an institution like Wesleyan College based on diversity, size, and most importantly tuition cost.

The first two decades of Georgia history are mentioned as Trustee Georgia, because during that period of Georgia a group of Trustees Governed the colony. I think there were a few positives such as cotton, rice and indigo plantations being established and converting people to being Christians. But I think there were a lot of negatives as well. Such as, Slaves being brought into the country, causing conflict about Christianity, and banning Catholics. Banning Catholics was also a plus though, because of the threat of the Spanish. I honestly think the rule of the Trustees was a success because it helped Georgia and the states around it become what they are today.
University of Mississippi and Mississippi State are alike in many ways. They both are really good universities and been really good universities for decades. University of Mississippi and Mississippi State differ in academics programs, sports, and housing facilities, but both should be considered when evaluating both colleges.
“I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.” Dorothy said to her dog in the famous movie, The Wizard of Oz. This line is what my family said when we arrived in Georgia and saw millions of trees that, at first, seemed to suffocate the city. The differences we noticed upon arrival seemed insurmountable, but over time we embraced our new location, and the difference seemed to fade. Kansas and Georgia may be many miles apart geographically and ideologically, but they share some core foundations that bridge the gap.
Choosing a college means going to a new, unfamiliar world of immense possibilities. One of the hardest decisions a high school graduate face is the choice between attending a Community College or a University. All universities have one primary purpose: to provide a higher education to its students. I believe I should be selected as a Georgia Southern scholarship recipient because while I currently live in South Carolina, I was born in Georgia and I still like to call Georgia my home. I also have 3 younger siblings, which has lead to me having a higher level of responsibility and maturity than many of my peers. My family has also been placed in a difficult financial situation due to my father losing his job in the oil industry, last August. This lead my family to move from Oklahoma after he found a job in South Carolina.
Appalachian State University was founded by the Dougherty brothers in 1899 but was originally known as the Watauga College. Appalachian was originally a teachers college to create new teachers for the ‘lost province’ of Boone North Carolina. The Watauga College created a multitude of new teachers to better the education of those in the surrounding area. Appalachian State University is now known to put out some of the best teachers in the country.
Though Saint Mary’s Academy and Xavier University of Louisiana have many similarities, both also have many differences. When comparing the two schools, the similarity that is most apparent is that both institutions are Catholic schools that were founded by women who became nuns and wanted a better education for the black youth in the New Orleans area and surrounding areas. In addition, both are located in New Orleans, my hometown, which explains why I know so much history about both institutions. Even though there are some similarities between both, I can also point out many differences such as gender of students, diversity, and dress code.
During the Steps 2 College program provided by the University of North Georgia, Gainesville Campus, my Education 2120 class and I were to provide 20 hours of observational field experience in the classroom. From the many course options provided for the program, I choose to spend my time in the Environmental Science course which was located in the Nesbitt building in room 1213. The classroom setting was a darker than normal classroom, but was formatted auditorium style, with all seats facing the front of the class towards the smart board. This was a new experience for the students. Only the first row was used in class due to having a class size of only 7 students. The ratio of boys to girls was about even with 4 boys and 3 girls in the class. All the students were Hispanic, with the only diversity being the teacher and the teachers assistants present. They were all bilingual, knowing their native language of Spanish as well as English except one student who only knew English. All the students in our class came from Banks County High School. Banks County High School, located in Homer, Georgia, is the only high school within its county, with an enrollment rate of greater than or equal to 800 students annually (usnews,2015). Banks County High School has a national ranking of Bronze. Here is the breakdown of the demographics provided by (usnews,2015) and the National Center for Education Statistics of the school:

At the beginning of the semester when classes stated, I went to talk with my advisor about my academic goals and some certain points that I had doubt on. I told the advisor about my goals I had, I let her know my career for which I'm studying, I told her that my major was nursing. So, I ask her: what would be the best four year college which I could transfer?, She told me: "find three colleges that most interest you and the ones that have what you're looking for. When you have them come
Georgia was admitted as a state in 1788 and was one of the Confederate States of America. It was once primarily a farm state, producing large amounts of cotton, but has since become a major manufacturing and service industry state. Georgia is named for George II of England. Many people know that Milledgeville, GA is a small city and is also said to be a college town that offers just a little more than education. I have not been here long, only a few months, but I felt that there is not much to face here. However, everyone has their own experiences and struggles within due time. Because my life revolves around school, my focus is directed towards Georgia College and it’s qualities. How does my experience throughout this public liberal arts university tie into the close readings of Flannery O’Connor’s letters from The Habit of Being? As an African American female, I was unsure about how I would be treated in the college community, especially coming from a high school with majority black faculty, staff, and
There are several different colleges and universities in Georgia that offer a variety of degree programs for both undergraduate and graduate level students. However, Shorter University is one unique university within its own right for several reasons. In 1873, Shorter University was founded by Luther Rice Gwaltney and initially only allowed women to attend the university. In the 1950s, the university became coeducational which added not only to its student population, but the overall growth of the university as a whole. Ultimately, Shorter University’s uniqueness is directed related to its affiliation with the Georgia Baptist Convention. To date, Shorter University offers several degree programs
