Part-time jobs now is very common for students in many countries, we can see a lot of job websites can offer various part time job for students, but there are some differences between different countries, especially China. Above all, part time job can provide both training and experience and expand your outlook.
Although both Chinese students and American students work in part time, but there are lots of difference between Chinese and American part-time job.
The first point is the age of part timer. All minors of China are rules by the laws thereof that they can’t work until eighteen, so most of Chinese part-timers are college students, but there is no age limit for American part-timer. American students can take part time job while they are still on height school or younger, so they often have more experiences than their peers in China.
The second point is differences between their incomes. A same job, same educational background, same working time, Chinese part-timer’s income is much lower than American part-timer. The minimum wage in America is 7.25$ per hour now (http://www.minimumwages.org/), in China, according to incomplete statistics, the minimum wage in China approximately 2$ now (http://www.wageindicator.org/main/minimum-wages/china-custom).Another reason is during the job search process, the inexperienced young who are still under graduated can’t get a good position in China, they can just do some physical work for they don’t have a high education background. The United States pays more attention to ability instead of educational background. As long as you have good skills, you will get a good job and high salary.
The third point is Chinese students’ way of part time job is
One of the hallmarks of china’s socialist economy made a statement promise of employment to all and job-security with virtually lifelong tenure. They were overstaffed to fulfilling socialist goals and job-security lower the workers ‘motivation to work. This socialist policy was called the iron rice bowl.China’s employed labor force is rarely over 800
China has produced multiple jobs for the unemployed but not in the best way. The working conditions in Chinese markets are not the best. In China clothing industries, an employee makes $4.20 an hour whereas in a country such as the US, an employee makes $10.00. China also participates in the use of children to work in their factories.4 In some countries, child labor laws are put into place, but in China they do not have these laws. The conditions of the work place are referred to as “sweat shops.” One of the biggest issues facing the Chinese factories is something known as sandblasting. Sandblasting is a technique used to treat denim so it has a worn look. By performing this technique, it exposes workers to silica dust particles which severely damages
Today, China allows and creates many job and advantages for oversea citizens. In the passing years, China has been expanding its oversea trades constantly, which attracts and interests many oversea citizens and American to bring their business to China. My cousin has established a company in America few years ago, his corporation empowers real estate agents and photographers to add huge value to property sales and rental transactions with virtual reality and sing property websites. Few months ago, he brought his business back to china because he sees China does not have any firms like his. So he decided to go back to China to establish another branch. And now, his firm works very well in China’s market, and many real estate agents are interesting in it, which made a very good outlook for him. Besides, he is luck that he has caught the right moment and opportunity to expand his business in both America and China. Additionally, he tells me that the China’s market now is favoring the oversea citizens, if I am interested in return back to China after graduated, I should plan ahead right now to see what is China lacking off today. Meanwhile, not only my cousin is telling me this, but many of my other relatives and friends are also have the same remind to me, which makes me see the hopes and
Before part-time studies were introduced in institutions, employed people were suffering because they got no other alternative that they go for to pursue their studies. Since they only have time after 5 o’clock when they knock off and during the weekends. When part-time implemented, many
Whether you are in America or China, adolescents face much of the same challenges while making the transition from adolescents to adulthood. Although they are worlds apart each countries adolescent have the same obstacles to overcome. These obstacles help mold them into the adults they will become.
These jobs that the Chinese have taken should be open to Americans first seeing that we are in America but a lot of the companies have wanted the Chinese working instead. For example, “The boot, shoe, and cigar industries are almost entirely in their hands. In the manufacture of men’s overalls and women’s and children’s underwear they run over three thousand sewing machines night and day.” This means us Americans do not have the jobs that were once ours and the Chinese are taking a majority of the jobs out there. There is barely enough work for Americans alone and now my job has been taken over because these Chinese people offer to work for a lot less money and longer hours. I need my job to feed myself and my family, but I got fired because they say the Chinaman would do the same work for less money making it better for the company to hire the Chinaman and fire me. This is one reason why we the people of America are rightfully fighting to have our privileges back. “It is almost impossible for a poor white servant girl to find employment in a white family. No! The mistress of the house wants a Chinaman.” This is just one example of an American changing our work to fit in the Chinaman, even though it makes Americans start to be in poverty because the Chinese have been earning the money we normally
much more efficient a Chinese worker is when compared to an American one. According to the
The trend for hiring more part- time employees does save companies money and provides opportunities for people who want to work. I work for BI-LO in the deli department. After losing the job that I thought would be the one to carry through to retirement, I really didn’t think that getting another “good Job” would be very difficult. I found the looking for a job, during this time in our history was very disheartening and rejection made me feel defeated. Finally, I was able to get a part time job at the Piggly Wiggly working nights in the deli.
I work part-time April to September, Monday to Friday, 9AM to 2PM. When I begin my fall semester I generally tend to cut down my hours to part time, once a week, every Friday 9AM to 2PM. The flexibility allows me to focus on my education, since I devote majority of my time being a full-time student at Simon Fraser University. Semester breaks, such as winter allow the opportunity for me to work full-time for the
First of all, you have to learn how to live with a double schedule. When I first came to this country, I got a full-time job in a bank. When I began my studies thinking that I would work only part time. Instead, I quickly realized I could not afford
China is one of our biggest labor competitors. The reason many US companies go to China for outsourcing is again, because of their workforce’s willingness to operate at low costs. Michael Zimmerman describes this as a disparity in worker “tolerance”. Where the low wages found in China are “far lower than U.S.
Nearly half of the sector’s workfore is part-time much higher that 28% across the economy as a whole – and are in pubd, bars and nightclubs 58% fewer are in travel services 23%.
Although this sometimes isn’t the factories fault because most of the workers are uninsured so they are denied medical and social services (“China: Beijing’s Migrant 1”). Most of the factories do try to pay their workers by hour at about twenty cents per hour, but some only pay them once a year (Goldman 1). This however is breaking the rule of Labor Law fifty in China, which states that workers must be paid on a monthly basis. The average wage per month is only about sixty-five dollars which isn’t a sufficient amount of money to support an average family (“China: Beijing’s Migrant 1”). These people try to work overtime to earn more money, but often times they are forced to do this regardless (Goldman 2). Chinese workers often work in fear, because they have to ask permission to leave even after their shifts are done and to even go to the bathroom (Goldman 1). The Chinese workforce is starting to realize these problems and they won’t stand for it.
Everyone has a different lifestyle. People sometimes have to decide where they want to live. Some people prefer to live in the city while other people choose to live in the countryside. Their choice depends upon their bachground. City lifestyle and country lifestyle are two different types of living. Although, these two types of living differ from each other by environment, job opportunities and cost of living; they also have similar features such as daily routine, values and people live and work in these areas.
I, being employed with a part-time job, truly do believe that there is no wrong in having a part-time job while being a student. I honestly think that it is an awesome, great idea for students to have part-time jobs before they graduate from high school -- if they have the time and resources to do so. Students who are responsible, or learn responsibility, have nothing to loose but all to gain by having a job. There are a few key points that prove students having part-time jobs is an awesome concept which I am going to point out.
