Analysis Of Differences Between Android And Apple iOS Mobile Operating Systems The most significant differences between these mobile operating systems is the design philosophy of each, with Apple choosing a closed architecture, and Google with Android, open. This design philosophy is the catalyst of differences between Android and iOS operating systems. The next most significant difference is Android being based on the popular open source kernel Linux while Apple built iOS on OS X operating system (Manikas, Hansen, 1294).
