Concert Review: At The Movies

Saturday, March 5th, Tim, Thomas, Hunter and myself drove out to Lexington to watch the show put out by the Met Winds called “At the Movies”. This show's premise was how important and impactful music in a movie or performance can be. From the importance not only added my music in a scene with suspense or terror to heighten a mood but also for example in the show when a man in a chariot is making his way around an arena filled with thousands of people without the music it was very prosaic. For one of the acts the company put on was an act about music and sound in Godzilla. Now what was so interesting was there was a line of small text that read something like be careful and watch your small children we are going to be greeted with a visitor. At first, this was very confusing and I didn't understand the purpose of this. By this time the first act began.
What the first act was, a movie from many years ago that depicted a gladiator riding around a field with his horse drawn carriage waving to the onlookers. What made this so interesting was there was no music and the scene was quite dull and very boring. This was an act that myself and my classmates enjoyed. Looking down the row of chairs of my friends we were all laughing along with the rest of the crowd watching a college student dressed as Godzilla jump, run and even dance with the audience in an attempt to bring the music alive and have the audience gain a feeling as they are part of the movie or scene. There was a slide show put together by students from MIT that in accordance with the director of the musical ensemble was put on timers and changed slides only and always in accordance with the changing of music and the changing on tones and
