Why Study The Constitution and National & State Politics? Many Americans today have minimal to no idea as to how the politics of their country works, and the importance of the Constitution. It is important for citizens to study the Constitution as well as national and state politics because they need to have a valid and coherent understanding of how they work, and how they as average American citizens are affected by them. There are many reasons to study all of these topics and those that spring from them, such as, for example, to be informed. ¬¬¬As the author had stated, “Government is too important to be a spectator sport” (Page 11). It is beyond imperative that if an American citizen wishes to be a conscious and avid part of their government,
In the United States, each of the fifty states has its own states constitution, which contains the same basic provisions as the United States Constitution; however, states constitution is generally more detailed than the national constitution. In the United States, each of the fifty states has its own states constitution, which contains the same basic provisions as the United States Constitution; however, states constitution is generally more detailed than the national constitution. In the United States, each of the fifty states has its own states constitution, which contains the same basic provisions as the United States Constitution; however, states constitution is generally more detailed than the national constitution. In the United States,
The United States Constitution begins with the simple phrase “We the People”. Yet, with three simple words, the ideology it stands for has shaped the entire country (O’Connor et al., 2011). The short phrase signifies that the document, and thus, the government, is based upon the people themselves. The Constitution reflects the culture and ideologies of its citizens. Similarly, state constitutions reflect the people, albeit in a more specific locality. The key differences between the United States Constitution and that of local states are due to the distinctions between the scope and characteristics of the people they govern.
Arkansas state constitution is divided into nineteen articles. Article one deal with the boundaries of the state. The boundaries of are Arkansas begins at the main channel of the Mississippi River, west with the southern boundary line to Missouri and west to the north bank of the Red River. Some citizens of the United States believed that this document created a weak and unstable government from the start. Delegates from the colonies came together at a convention to create something greater for “all citizens,” and it was at this moment after months of intense deliberation that the Constitution was born. Although he was not the sole author, many contribute the Constitution to James Madison who had big part in writing it. The importance of the Constitution lies simple in its cardinal principle: freedom for all. Its advancement in allowing the people to choose their own form of government is remarkable furthermore, a government that places power within the people rather than a king.
The Constitution has governed the United States for nearly 200 years. It has been the subject of controversy since its genesis. There was a need to expand powers of the central government in order to enforce and better regulate foreign affairs, conduct war and regulate currency across the states. State representatives struggled to divide power fairly between the states and the central government. The main controversy was similar to the original reason the confederation declared its independence from England. Representation.
The U.S Constitution sets all the general rules and laws for the United States of America. The U.S. Constitution is very general because it is covering everything for the entire country. It gives an understanding on how the nation’s government works. Provides the framework of the proper functions, responsibilities, and what each section of the government has to provide. The U.S. Constitution is important to the country, but state constitutions are also important. State constitutions go in more depth pertaining to their states laws. Both carry the same amount of information, but each state finds their constitution more significant than the entire nations.
The Constitution has a central place in United States law and in to some degree, the culture of the United States, certainly in the Culture of American Government. (Foner, Give me liberty pg. 268). Unlike The Declaration of Independence, it does not mention God or divine rights, rather it bars religious texts from federal office. (Foner, 270). It defined who was entitled to the freedoms as outlined in the
The U.S. Constitution was created to establish America 's national government and fundamental laws in order to guarantee the citizen 's rights. It was signed on September 17, 1787 at the Constitutional Convention held in Philadelphia. Before the Constitution was written, the Articles of Confederation is what America was governed by. Under the Articles of Confederation, the nation was weak and the states were run like they were independent countries. At the Philadelphia Convention, delegates formulated a plan to have a stronger government by having three branches and a system of checks and balances. This would ensure that no single branch would obtain too much power. Many people today have different views on
This article of the National Constitution discusses the Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma National Intercollegiate Band. I believe that this is an extremely important part of the constitution because this honors the best musicians nationwide in our fraternity and sister sorority. It is the motto of KKΨ to “Strive for the Highest” and I believe this applies to all aspects of the fraternity especially our musicianship, and what better way than to have a national band that recognizes our best musicians. This opportunity also provides brothers with a medium to meet brothers from all across the United States. This also gives an opportunity for sponsors to meet (4.105). The National
The understanding of the documents helps students who do study them knows helps them to learn what happens throughout the history of the United States. The Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence all give rights to American Citizens living in the United States. All three of these including more, show what rights we get and as well gives us freedom which was made by the founding fathers. This is worth a student's time because I want to show and present how important it is to understand the meaning and how the founding fathers choose as well as made the documents. The Constitution shows what rights we have as well as the Bill of Rights that is in the Constitution.
As the preamble to the Consitution states "We the people...". We the people have unalienable rights endowed by our creator (referencing the preamble to the Declaration of Independence), have been given rights, that we are abided to. I am here to explain to, give reason to, to dive into "How does learning about government and our America help you become a future guardian of the liberties of our country?" I will be handing out information about three specific topics, what we have as of now, how we can protect it, and how we should leave it for the next generation. Without further ado.
Citizens of the United States of America are privileged with having a republic that gives them rights that are not available all around the world. American citizens have many rights that have been given to them in the Constitution such as right to bear arms and freedom of the press. Most of these rights are spelled out in The Bill of Rights. One of the important responsibly that American citizens have is to check the government’s actions. American citizens are required to follow the law and pay taxes. Americans participate in elections every year. This however is not required, but it is an important right that Americans do have. The Constitution has taken ideas from several other governments and writing. Some of these documents are The English Bill of Rights, The Spirit of Laws, and The Federalist Papers. These documents helped shape the Constitution and how it is perceived today.
The constitution is the core structure of the American government and without understanding the core of the constitution then we can't understand the government. The Constitution is a amazing document it was written over 200 years ago but to this day has proven to be flexible enough but also stable enough to last all this time. The times for which the Constitution was written for have extremely changed but it has still proven to hold strong.
