Convergent Evolution is the process where an unrelated or distantly related organism develops similar characteristics in order to adapt to the same environment. When the time passes this adaptations made by the organism makes the species to add up similar favorable traits in very different species.
One example of convergent evolution is the body structure of the shark and the dolphin. Even though they are not related they look alike, and move through the ocean similar. But a shark is a fish and a dolphin is a mammal, but they live in similar environments and needed to adapt in order to survive.
