Creative and Critical Thinking
According to the website, FactsForLife.org, “The first five years of a child's life are fundamentally important. They are the foundation that shapes children's future health, happiness, growth, development and learning achievement at school, in the family and community, and in life in general. Recent research confirms that the first five years are particularly important for the development of the child's brain, and the first three years are the most critical in shaping the child's brain architecture. Early experiences provide the base for the brain's organizational development and functioning throughout life. They have a direct impact on how children develop learning skills as well as social and emotional abilities.”

By living in an area where things don’t come so easy, creativity would be at its peak because it would actually be promoted under many circumstances. For example, according to Csikszentmihaly, circumstances that promote creativity is in an educational setting. By not having a technological device to assist me, engaging and occupying the mind with many interests will eventually promote talents as well as ideas. I would achieve a creative breakthrough by simply being in a surrounding where my mind is constantly practicing creative techniques in order to survive. I would experience stimulation and variation by being around diverse colleagues, which I would experience diversity and be involved in discussion. The domain I feel that would best reflect my potential is sports. To express oneself is freeing oneself. The greatest prisoner is not someone who is physically locked up behind bars, but someone whom strives to be like someone else, by keeping their inner ambitions chained up, and dictated by inner perceptions of others. The rules and practices of my domain will then transmit to me, which will then produce a new variation in my domain, which then I must be admitted by the field for inclusion in the domain. This will push me to increase my …show more content…
As Csikszentmihalyi states, “Divergent thinking is not much use without the ability to tell a good idea from a bad one and this selectivity involves convergent thinking.” I agree with Csikszentmihalyi in the fact that creativity come up with the ideas but being critical decides which one should be best used. Whenever you are investing your own personal ideas, you are being creative. To me being creative is like being daring, where as being critical is like being precise. Or in sports terms creative thinking is like scoring a goal nobody has ever seen before where as being critical is like scoring an important goal, in an important moment. Creativity is also lot like a flowing stream of water, it moves and swerves, and finds a way past various patterns of irregular sculpted rocks, and critical thinking is a like fire, it’s very directive, and conclusive, in many ways, it doesn’t need to flow around the irregular sculpted rocks, with the right temperature and wave pattern, if it’s in the way of the fire it will be concluded. Chaffe and Csikszentmihalyi have similarities and differences when it comes to creativity. For example, one thing they have differences with is, Csikszentmihalyi believes you should shape your space and create the surrounding that you need, take charge of your schedule to be both open and focused, or doing things well is enjoyable but to improve we must increase the complexity. In contrasts Chafee
In the context of creativity’s stated definition, we will proceed to group our arguments into three themes of factors: cognitive ability, expertise training, and environmental conditions. The human brain is highly adaptable and can continue to develop new cognitive abilities, even past adulthood (Norman, 2015). Proper cognitive expertise and training can help workers produce and operate in ingenious ways (Ginamarie, Lertiz & Mumford, 2004). Finally, the working environment can both motivate or stifle creative output. Managers can influence all three components: expertise, thinking skills, and motivation (Amabile, 1998).
What creativity actually is when you use your imagination, allowing things in the mind to occur that wouldn’t actually occur and also things to better the world. “Being creative is not only about thinking: it is about feeling” (160). You can not just think but you have to have feelings to make sure that you doing things right and feeling like you made something productive in the time. Being creative requires a long process, “magination which is the process of bringing to mind things that are not present to our senses; creativity, which is the process of developing original ideas that
1. Recall chapter 1 that Earth and Venus are so similar in size and overall composition that they are almost twins. Why did these planets evolved so differently? Why is earth’s atmosphere rich in oxygen and poor in carbon dioxide, whereas the reverse is true for Venus? What would happen to the Earth’s oceans if earth were a little bit closer to the sun?
Toddlers develop a sense of autonomy by letting them explore new skills. Preschoolers develop a sense of initiative as by beginning to plan and initiate activities with others. School aged children develop a sense of industry by feeling confident in their ability to achieve goals. Evidence shows that experiences in the 1st years of life are extremely important for a child’s healthy development and lifelong learning. How a child development during this time affects future cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, which influences school readiness and later success in life (“Early and Middle Childhood” n.d.)2)
Organic chemistry and critical thinking are important components in my future career. I found this to be the case when I asked Ashley Geisinger, Pharmacist at Meyer Pharmacy in Waverly, Iowa, what kind of influence organic chemistry and critical thinking has in pharmacy. Ashley is also married to my cousin, so I was fortunate enough to have been around her for a few years now. Prior to graduation high school and attending Grand View, I had multiple conversations with Ashley about future careers in medicine and college plans pertaining to a future in medicine.
Because the brain is making so many connections pre-birth to age 3, the first three years of life are the most critical for brain development. After age 3, the "window of opportunity" closes. You're sitting here learning something right now aren't you?!! Although brain connector density is at its highest level in the first three years of life, that doesn't mean that the brain has its greatest brain power at that time. A great deal of learning goes on after the first three years of life. However, the first three years are important for laying the groundwork for healthy psychological development.
The definition of early life as a social determinant of health given by Rumbold and Dickson-Swift is “A good start in life means supporting mothers and young children.” (Rumbold & Dickson-Swift, 2012, p. 180). Early life describes the period from prenatal development to eight years of age, and is a time of remarkable brain growth and development, this period establishes the foundations for subsequent development and learning (Siddiqi, Irwin, & Hertzman, 2007).
Imagination comes from the word 'image'. It is the process of forming such images or ideas. God is a God of images that is why he gave us eyes to enable vision and the mind so we can imagine things. That is seeing on the inside as well as the outside. We see imagination at work in Genesis 11, "And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do." GOD allows images of His promises to be formed in your spirit and in your mind so that you can embrace it, work towards it's realization. The devil also projects images into minds.
Cre·a·tiv·i·ty - the ability to make new things or think of new ideas. The world has seen new ideas over and over, and we wouldn’t be the people we are today if it weren’t for those ideas. What if John F. Kennedy hadn’t pondered about what lies beyond our atmosphere, and we never explored the moon? What if Karl Benz never thought of that seemingly crazy idea to build an automobile? Or, what if the Wright Brothers just gave up on their idea of the airplane? If they never let their creativity prosper, who knows what kind of world we would be living in today? More importantly, what would your life look like if you never let your creativity take control every now and then?
Write at least 1 page assessing the quality of your notes by answering the following:
For my writing process, I chose the picture of the organized triangle. I chose this picture because I tend to research and plan everything before I actually begin to write. This is a positive thing because it can help me organize my thoughts and not drag on or go all over the place with my thinking. This is a negative way of writing because it can can me some stress because using this technique can tend to ruin my creativity which is important to use when you are writing. After reviewing the ten core concepts for effective writing, I believe that I am lacking number 4, "The writer must have something to say." To be completely honest, I love to write, but not when it is assigned to me. I feel like when it is assigned to me, I can tend to not
Common sense, science, personal beliefs, and critical thinking all picky back from each other in some sort. To better explain that statement, I will tackle each individual while explaining the relationship among each through examples.
One area that I could assert additional attention to is critical thinking. The process of critical thinking is something that applies to all facets of life. In the workplace, applying additional skills towards job performance is critical to becoming successful. Gaining a greater feel for basing judgement on details is an area that I could be more assertive to. Improving this area to gaining all facts and reflections will expand my job performance. Personally, improving the ability to think outside the box will also increase my critical thinking skills to allow for greater personal
4. Choose one of the geologic periods or epochs listed in Figure 3.8 and find out all you can about it: How are rocks from that period identified? What are its most characteristic fossils? Where are the best samples of rocks from your chosen period found?
As part of the course requirements for my SL Physics class, I was assigned the task of conducting numerous experiments relevant to the topics which we were learning about. In these experiments I used different forms of thinking, including critical and creative thinking, in order to form a hypothesis, analyze the data, and then come to a conclusion regarding results and my hypothesis. While knowledge can be formed through the interaction of critical and creative thinking, such as in my physics experiments, the statement given in the title implies that knowledge is solely generated through the interaction of critical and creative thinking. I intend to demonstrate that knowledge can be generated in other ways by showing that either critical
