Culture is the characteristics of a group of people defined by language, cuisine, religion social habits music and art. There are many different types of culture including western culture, eastern culture, African culture and many more. Culture is influenced by the groups of people that make up the country (Zimmermann, 2012). The term culture was first used by an English Anthropologist named Edward B. Tyler. It was first mentioned in 1871 in his book named ‘Primitive Culture’. He stated that culture is "that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, law, morals, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society”. One can argue that having “unbranded space” would be ideal but nearly impossible. As stated at the start of this paper, adults consume 52,500 advertisements per year. That’s 52,500 brands! When people are at work, home or on the street they see brands through billboards, newspapers, magazines, posters and clothing. It is nearly impossible to live a life without brands. When you understand the meaning of the word, it provides you with a better understanding of what the word represents. In our, “ Culture Handout” culture is defined as the tool of the mind, “ it is an individual’s way seeing and interacting within the world. It encompasses one’s values systems, beliefs, and perceptions of the world around them. Race, socio-economic class gender, sexual orientation, ability, geographic location, age, religion language, etc. all impact the formation of culture, but these various context are not culture” (Cultural Handout).

Instead, according to E.B. Taylor, the first professional anthropologist, “culture is that complex whole which included knowledge, belief, arts, morals, law, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society”( qtd. in Scupin 42).
Every culture has its unique characteristics that make it different form the other culture. Some of the differences that prevail in various cultures are quite evident even to the non scholastic and unsophisticated people, these variations include changes in language, traditions, dressing styles, political organizations, beliefs and values etcetera. The other variations that prevail in various cultures, however, are not that loud and one can only come to know these variations after spending a long time in that culture. According to various scholars, culture can be defined as the learned characteristics or the pattern of living for the members of the society. For any society, culture is the way of living of its members. The diversified factors of the culture, however, may vary from family to family in a given society.
