Anything that exists today has its history and its origin, including Cosmetology. Cosmetology is a professional skill developed by the study of hair, skin, nails, and makeup. Its history traces back to Africa during the B.C. era. The use of organic products during that time period influenced their culture, religion, and customs. This development also improved the way they culturally arranged themselves. Their creative skills and beliefs turned cosmetology to a form of art. The society involving cosmetology as part of their everyday cultural life made what cosmetology is today.

As the years have passed, the profession of cosmetology and its benefits have evolved over time. Evidence suggests that cosmetology originated about 12,000 years ago. From the discovery of healing powers from oils, the cosmetic industry boosted and gained more popularity as people found its benefits. During this era, religion was mainly important in their society. Using cosmetics helped people become more involved in their culture and religion. Worshipping their gods were the main reason they introduced cosmetology at such early times. Two influential people during this time period were Queen Nefertiti and Queen Cleopatra. Their elegance and customs were brought to the people’s attention. People soon began to follow and created their own social cultural looks. Another key point is that studies found that the Egyptians began using minerals, insects, and berries to create their products in 3000 B.C.
