Many things define success in college, but in my opinion the most important are; to graduate, to get closer to God, and to make my parents proud of me by the time I graduate. I will do this through my most important strengths; adaptability, and intellection, even though I wish I could write about all of them. Adaptability being that I can readjust to situations better than other people and intellection being that I think more often and have fun doing so. The first strength I would like to introduce is adaptability which is a key trait of mine that will definitely put me at an advantage when trying to accomplish my tasks that will lead me to my ideal perception of academic success. College opens up many different doors that can help you to your career path. There are many things that I would like to achieve while being in college. One thing I would like to achieve while in college is to become more independent. This is important to me because I won’t have the need to depend on anyone but myself and it will also help me mature. Some ways that could help me be independent is to believe in myself, have better decision making skills, and have a better self-esteem. Another thing that I would like to achieve is to be successful, I know that it will be hard and a lot of work but with determination I will be able to do my best. College Success: Chapter 1 is a great recourse for every student whether they are experienced or not. Specifically, descriptions about the best possible choices made to get the most out of your experience are plentiful, and self-assessments are included to evaluate a starting point. If one were to follow the step-by-step advice given, such as overcoming obstacles and enriching your learning experience, it would be close to impossible not to have a great experience at college. The author wasn’t afraid to delve deep into the fact that college is difficult and requires a lot of commitment to follow through. A third strength I have is an inner drive to be able to stick to a task and get it done. Whether it is at work or at school, if I am assigned a task I make it a point to work at it until the task is done. If a deadline is presented in front of me I have something inside of me that forces me to keep working on it until it is completed and not just completed but done first the right way. Which leads to another strength that I have is a strong work ethic. In my profession in recruiting what I do reflects me and the company that I work for. When I go to recruiting events or career fairs I represent the company that I am there for. Everything about me such as my demeanor, my dress, my attitude, etc. reflects the professionalism of the company as well as any reports or products that are produced and put out by me. I take pride in my work and
My second key strength is showing gratitude to others. If someone does something for me or helps me develop a new skill. I show gratitude to them by thanking them, and I tell them that really appreciate their help. I am there for that person when they need my help.
These strengths include organization, participation, and creation of checklists. I feel I stay very organized in this class, as I have all of my documents organized inside my binder ready for a notebook check. In regards to participation, I try my best to raise my hand nearly every class. I stay active and focused so that I can obtain all of the information. I also ask questions frequently which helps me to avoid mistakes or any confusion. My final strength, the fact that I create checklists, has benefitted me immensely. Checklists help to make sure all requirements are met for any project or essay, which is how I received a 91 on my Pilgrim Presentation and an 85 on my Canterbury Tales Short Essay. Checklists have helped me to score higher on assignments with multiple requirements, but not all assignments were as simple as creating a
A second strength would be an individualized consideration provided to each team member with a focus on self-interest which as a key advantage to accomplishing good work. My team trusts my guidance as their leader because they know that in the end I have their success as individuals in mind. Over time I have proven to them that I have no personal agenda to adhere to and therefore the decisions I make with regard to them are solely for their benefit. I am able to delegate tasks to individuals that I believe are willing and excited to accept the task at hand, whether they believe they are ready or not. It is my belief in others to rise to any challenge that fuels my strength as a leader. Only when they do not succeed, do I find it necessary to intervene and take action. This foundation of trust is also vital to my success as a leader.
My top strength identified was the Achiever theme. Achiever describes the need for constant achievement. Achievers have the capacity and the drive to keep taking on new challenges and strive toward new goals (Rath, 2007). This description is accurate in that I enjoy a new challenge and like to keep busy working towards anything with some sort of successful outcome. I welcome the opportunity to do something better, more perfectly, or more complete which motivates me to a higher level (Rath, 2007).
Strength: I am very good at asking questions and pulling information from the opposing side. I have also improved in trying to build a golden bridge and trying to work out the issues with the other side, instead of arguing with the other party about why my interests are correct.
Upon completion of the StrengthsFinder survey, I discovered that my five greatest strengths were Achiever, Discipline, Responsibility, Relator, and Competition. However, I was skeptical about the initial results until I read what each strength entails. I found most of the information given to be accurate. According to the description of those strengths, I discovered that I use them daily without realizing it.

To my fellow college classmates, I'm going to set you guys up for college success. The very first thing to college success is showing up, you need drive and motivation to push yourself through college. Not all days will be stunning but if you’re going to make through college you will need have the desire to exceed. Next thing for college success is taking responsibilities for yourself, you need make sure that you have all component’s you need for yourself successful in your own system. Another thing for college success taking notes in class, not all classmates love this, but it will make you recognize important subjects that your class is trying to teach you. Great notes will make your class a lot easier for you exceed and working you get that
This semester has flew by a lot faster than I anticipated. The akron experience has taught me quite a bit that has helped me in many different areas. Being successful in college to me means to organize and manage all the parts of your life so that you are content. College is alot to keep track of and managing this and the rest of your life is the main thing that will keep you going so you are able to take breaks. Without breaks you will get burned out and I learned this pretty fast. I would say I was successful this semester even if my grades weren't exactly where I wanted them I am getting the feel for the whole experience.
Being successful in college is not as difficult as some people think it is. With the proper preparation and observation, the student can be well-organized weeks ahead of when their classes will be scheduled to start. Not everyone is considered a highly organized individual and sometimes unexpected things happen to us all. It is important to keep a positive attitude, research, and speak with your instructors and various other staff members when needed in order to solve a dilemma. It all boils down to what the problem you are facing is. For myself, my EOPS appointment had been four days before classes were supposed to start and after taking a one-hour bus ride to the college about thirty minutes before my appointment was scheduled my phone rang.
I am currently 17 years old, a senior in high school, thinking about my future and planning for what lies ahead during my college life. There is much to living to do during the next 30 years and there are some important things worth thinking about. I define success as accomplishing my goals and forming lasting relationships that will benefit me and others. This definition of success is what is driving me to work hard and push though barriers so that I may accomplish goals that I have set for myself. Thirty years from now, I want to be able look back on my life with pride and satisfaction. To do this, I must form good relationships with the right people and take it upon myself to act and work in a way that reflects my definition of success.
The biggest strength I have is to be creative with the situation that I am given. This in not only a skill that suggest that one can synthesize material to give it a sense of authenticity, but also can adapt and accommodate in the moment. Even the best planners can have a poor classroom dynamic; the rigidity of these classes is what prevents them from engaging students in the moment. I genuinely believe in effective planning and mythology but I also believe in breaking from the script and to accommodate the needs of learners in creative ways.
