Personally, I see wellness as not simply being free from illness or ailment. I define wellness as a mentally active process of becoming mindful and making conscious choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. This is a dynamic process of constant change and growth. Achieving and maintaining wellness is an important facet in my day-to-day life.

I define health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Living a healthy lifestyle is very important to me, and I strive to achieve this on a daily basis.
4.) How do you incorporate health into your life?
I strive to achieve a “healthy” lifestyle and incorporate health into my daily life through a variety of measures. As a Public Health major, my academic studies and future career objectives are ultimately geared towards seeking how to improve human health through the development and application of knowledge that helps to promote health and prevent disease, protect the public from exposure to potential harm, and prevent health care inequalities at a local, state, national, and global level. Outside of my studies, I aim to “practice what I preach” and regularly exercise and eat a healthy and nutritious diet.
5.) How physically active would you say you are in any given week?
I would describe myself as above average in how much physical activity I engage in within a typical week. Besides walking across and around UC San Diego’s large campus on a daily basis, I regularly commute to campus by bike. My favorite hobby is the sport of running. I have been actively practicing this sport since I was 10 years old and in 6th grade, and have exercised this through running for Cross Country, Track & Field, and most significant to me, annually training for and running the LA Marathon. My other hobbies and activities include general fitness, pursuing a healthy and nutritious diet, adventuring outdoors, hiking, climbing, visiting new places, listening to music, and most importantly, doing all of this with family and friends.
7.) Do you actively seek adventure or new things?
Yes, I actively seek adventure and strive to experience new things in my day-to-day life. Whether it’s simply trying a new food, listening to a new song, or planning a trip to visit a new place, I love to explore, adventure, and try new things. Currently up next on the “college bucket list” – go skydiving this summer!
8.) How open are you to walking long distances and/or carrying heavy loads?
I am very open towards walking long distances and/or carrying heavy loads. I see both as opportunities to add extra fitness into my day!

In order to develop a wellness program there are several things that should be taken into consideration. First, you must develop your own personal perception of what you feel wellness is and how to stay well. Secondly, you must know what the pros and cons are for being fit. Then finally you must set immediate goals to obtain your level of wellness. The main thing you need to keep in mind is that developing a healthy life style early in life is a key factor in preventing diseases and improving one quality of life.
Naidoo and Wills(2001, p.47) “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity’ - WHO (1946).” This definition falls into a holistic way of defining health, which believes that there are more areas to look at when thinking of health than just simply the absence of a disease. Wellbeing is a term in which reflects on the positive emphasis on health and can be broken down into six aspects know as environmental, physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual. What is wellness? “Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy life. Wellness is also a process for change and growth” (Health Topic – What is wellness?). To have acceptable wellness you should have an equal amount of social, emotional/mental, and physical health. I, myself, believe that I have an okay wellness, I mean not like full wellness but just enough to pass I'll say. But how am I living in wellness?
Health and wellness are increasingly being used. Health actually is more to a medical and describes the mental and physical state of a person. It will reflect a lack of disease of a person. In the contrary, wellness is defined as the overall process of maintaining a state of good health of a person. Wellness involves conscious decisions on the part of the individual, while health simply describes a person's condition of the body. However, the combined phrase health and wellness showed the meaning of the state of complete physical, mental, emotional health and social wellbeing, and it is when a person is absence of disease.
There will be five dimensions explained under this topic. Which are: Financial dimension, physical dimension, intellectual dimension, emotional dimension and social dimension.
