Democracy is a universally recognised ideal as well as a goal. It is based on common values shared by the people throughout the world community not taking into account the cultural, political, social and economic differences these people hold. It is a basic right of citizenship to be exercised under the conditions of freedom, equality, and responsibility. It is a form of government to be applied according to modalities which reflect the diversity of experiences and cultural particularities without taking away from internationally recognised principles, normalities and standards. According to the Pew Research Center, about 71% of US citizens consider themselves under the christian religion. The majority of Christians believe that abortion is wrong because of their belief that the act of abortion is murdering an unborn baby. With that being said, christians are more likely to vote for a candidate that is against abortion rather than a candidate who endorses abortion. In this case, christians would be more likely to vote for candidate Donald Trump because of his views on abortion. He discussed that if he is president he will withdraw the Roe v. Wade, which is the supreme court's decisions that allows abortion for any reason. However, these possible policies may not consider some circumstances that abortion may be necessary. For example, victims of rape may feel it is necessary to have an abortion in order to obtain a better recovery. These policies may also hurt some females who may not be ready or may feel unfit to have children. Whether it is from the female saying a baby will interfere with work or school or the fact that they simply cannot afford to raise a child, these possible policies may seem unfair to some US citizens. An issue rising in the upcoming 2016 elections that people of the black race are making a political statement by not voting in the upcoming elections. Larry Fellows III, an accidental organizer from St. Louis is siding towards skipping the presidential election because of his thoughts that the government has failed him at every level starting after a grand jury decline in his home town, St. Louis to indict the police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown.. Fellows says “I don’t know if I want to continuously partake in a system that oppresses so many people”. People of the black race have now began following in the footsteps of Fellows. Their reasoning for this is that there is no point in engaging in political processes if they do not benefit them in any way. Although the number of black voters has steadily increased over the years, a large number of black people feel so disaffected by these processes that they are just choosing not to participate anymore. Many of them think that because they are minorities they are not being represented fairly. This comes to show that democracy in the United States is not doing a good job in representing all of its
