Tourists appear in Yellowstone National Park to see the world’s geysers and to observe the wildlife. Most people go to observe the animals and take pictures while they are there, but what they do not know is that it can be threatening. While people are taking pictures they do not know the proper precautions about being close to them. People do not know how the bears will react based upon spotting you. Although, there would be less attacks, bears should not be removed because it is there natural habitat, people are desensitizing bears, and bears attacking have been a defensive act. First, bears should not be removed because it is their common territory. In article 2 it states, “Denali National Park and preserve is home to both black bears and grizzly bears”(National Park Service n.p.). Since, Denali is a preserve to the bears that means Yellowstone and Yosemite National Park are preserves to them too. If rangers are removing the bears he/she is taking their home away: like for example what if someone just kicks people out of their house, citizens would not be too happy and would perhaps try …show more content…
In article 4 it states, “People feed wildlife. . . often unintentionally...it’s because they love wildlife and want to see it . . . if an animal receives food. . . it . . . becomes used to people. . . not only does that increase the chance it will hurt someone. . .but. . . bears did not become this way without people’s help" (Holland n.p.). What this is saying is that people are interacting with bears do not know what can take place. The reason why they can’t reach out to bears is because they if this keeps on happening then it will become a second nature for bears just to come up to people without meaning to scare them. People are the ones teaching bears not to be afraid of them. They should be the ones enduring criticism for making the bears look fatal when it is their
When people visit public areas, the goal always seems to be: I need a picture, so how close can I get? How do they do that? Food. Enticing wildlife with food is one of the easiest ways to have wildlife come right to you. One problem with feeding wildlife is, they become imprinted that humans always have food to offer. Meaning, they have learned that humans have food and will have easy access to it. Another problem with feeding wildlife is that human food can cause health defects to the animal body. For example, “Angel Wings,” commonly found in ducks, swans, and geese is a deformity in the wings due to the overeating of breads that humans feed them. This affects the structure of the wings and leaves them flightless. Although signs have been posted around parks, that does not stop anyone! It is a hard habit to break for many people. An end to wildlife feed would cause less harm to humans, animals, and to the presumption that we have the upper hand in this world.

Wolves have always been a symbol of the wild, free in spirit and roamers of the land. These animals are considered majestic and protectors of the wilderness. They have always roamed the western United States, although their population has fluctuated over time. Over the past 10 years wolf reintroduction into Yellowstone National Park has been a controversial topic to those of the United States. As of 1995, wolves have been reintroduced into the park. This has come with some strong opposition and yet has prevailed. The future of the wolf in Yellowstone park is now looking bright, although not certain since there still are those who want them banished again.
With the reintroduction of the Grey Wolf into the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem there have been many people who are opposed. Mainly the ranchers in Montana

In addition to providing the animal with shelter, and necessary supplies the natural parks can bring back a whole species from near extinction. In the passage “The Impact of Animal Protection” it directly states that keeping animals protected has proven to be beneficial and increase the population of endangered animals. Bringing animals back from near extinction can be a difficult task, however it is very beneficial. Animal protection is also used to help control animal population from getting out of control. These programs have brought back plenty of species such as black footed ferrets, California condors, red wolves, and golden lion tamarins. (Do Animals Lose in Zoos?) The community would never get to see these amazing creatures if these
Funny thing about camping in Yosemite for years with my family. Every time we invited a family to camp with us, they all responded while sitting around the camp fire, with the same statement. "There are no bears in Yosemite"! Some how in their own minds they seemed to think their statement would keep them away. Or they wanted reassurance from us there weren't any. We have had several encounters with them in our camp, but the Rangers have mostly contained them. Trouble is, what Yosemite are you talking about? Yosemite Valley where most of the camping is, or Yosemite National Park.
Ed Yong makes very valid points on how the wolves of Yellowstone have impacted the overly populated elk herds. He has this to say about the herds; “Today the population stands at just over 6,000 down from 19,000 in the elk’s wolf-free heyday,” (ll57). This might seem like a terrible drop in the elk’s numbers, but it is actually a good thing. Yong tells us, “The large deer had run amok in the wolf-free decades, causing serious damage to the park’s trees,” (ll5-6). So in reality, while there are far less elk now, the trees can start to build back up again.
Since 1975 Grizzly Bears have been on the Endangered Species List. Besides the Endangered Species List, another solution was to relocate the bears to Yellowstone National Park. Yet, another solution that is taking place, is to increase funding to save the habitats of the bears. If the Grizzly Bear went extinct, the biomes and ecosystems would dwindle away and also be lost. If the Grizzly Bear went extinct the spreading of seeds for the plants it feeds on will cease, causing very little plants to grow. This would then affect the wildlife populations because there would be little to no vegetation for the animals to thrive on. Without the Bear the herd populations would increase and die off because of the scarce food around. The cause of the Bear’s death is the over hunting of the animal. Humanity can fix this by putting in additional laws that restrict and prohibit the hunting of these Bears, and not rely heavily on the Endangered Species List law. The solution that I offer is an alternative use of funding. Instead of putting money to technology and its opportunities, we turn that money and use it to help the preservation of these Bears. We could also, use the money to create more land for the animals to live on and thrive on. Humanity can counteract these events by supporting the laws in place and giving their full attention to this pressing matter. For what humanity takes away we must give back in order to continue a way of life: life where anything can
Fair Bear has gone on another adventure, this time in Georgia. He has decided to visit the Ocmulgee National Park and Preserve Initiative. This includes the Indian Mounds, the Bond Swamp Wildlife Refuge, the Ocmulgee River, and historic Muscogee land.
The Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus) is a bear native largely within the Arctic Circle encircling the Arctic Ocean, its surrounding seas and land masses. Although it is closely related to the Brown Bear, it has evolved to occupy a narrower ecological forte, with many body characteristics adapted for cold temperatures, for moving across snow, ice, and open water, and for hunting the seals which make up most of its diet. Though there are many theories surrounding evolution, the two stand outstanding hypotheses applying to the modification from Brown Bear to Polar Bear are Lamarck’s theory of Use and Disuse, and Darwin’s theory of Natural Selection. The intention of this paper is to compare these thesis and determine the most appropriate in

As the human population is increasing, Florida Panthers are decreasing. In the past, Native Americans would kill panthers for their coat, teeth, meat, and for medical uses (Alderson, pg. 23). There have also been several human-panther encounters where humans have tried to kill the panther. It is noted that panthers never try to come after individuals (Alderson, pg. 18). However; individuals still feel as if they are in danger when they are in contact with a panther. People also feel the need to harass and mess with Florida Panthers. With an increasing population, there are more people harming these animals. There have been several actions taken to prevent these occurrences from reoccurring. To avoid the amount of panthers being killed by humans there is laws in place that punishes people that bother, hurt, wound, agitate, or eradicate Florida Panthers (Alvarez, pg. 198). When an individual sees a panther they should not harm it; instead they should admire its
The polar bear, the largest land carnivore in North America, one of the largest animals in the world and a favorite at zoos worldwide, has, over the years, adapted to its harsh Arctic environment. The appropriately named ‘ursus maritimum’ or sea bear usually lives between 15 and 18 years in the wild and spends most of its life on ice. It is the most recent of the eight bear species. The first polar bear was a brown bear subspecies, with brown bear dimensions and brown bear teeth. The polar bear evolution was rapid due to the small population and extreme pressure to survive. Even today, the polar bear continues to evolve to better adapt to the harsh realities of Arctic life.
Bear is a true carnivore, but if not prevented the black bear could be a huge problem to humans.
