Some people have mental health concerns from time to time throughout their life, but continual signs and symptoms can cause frequent stress and problems in daily life. A mental illness influences how a person feels, thinks, functions, and how they respond others. Anxiety and depression are both examples of mental health illnesses. Anxiety is being extremely nervous constantly throughout typical life events and responsibilities (Cleveland Clinic). Depression is a broad term used to describe an extreme negative drop of mood such as sadness and hopelessness accompanied by disturbances in body functions. One or more symptoms can be experienced at a time. Some causes can include someone’s genetics, their lifestyle, and/or their environment. Possible genetic factors (traits that can be inherited) consist of biochemical processes, chemical imbalances in the body, and basic brain structure. Social and life choices can affect anxiety disorders, also. Persistent, excessive fear and worry in situations that are nonthreatening are all social effects of having an anxiety disorder. Physical and environmental issues can be put into effect as well. Stress and traumatic life events are two examples. Physical symptoms may be easily confused with other medical conditions such as hyperthyroidism and heart disease. Anxiety disorders can make effects of related mental health conditions worsen. All symptoms relate to chemical processes in the brain and can alter those and change mood. It is important to get support and start treatment early for improvement and a chance for recovery. You must know how to treat a disorder in order to improve the lives of those who suffer from it. If someone refuses to be treated, their symptoms will only worsen. For diagnosis, a doctor will perform an evaluation that includes physical examination, lab tests, and an interview. Each type of an anxiety disorder has its own treatment plan depending on the particular situation and how your body respond.
