Game Day Each Friday morning, during football season, I wake up with butterflies in my stomach. I wake up knowing that I have a football game that night. Football Fridays, for me, are usually filled with excitement, stress, anxiety, and nervousness. I wake up and put my jersey on as I think about the long stress and excitement-filled day I have ahead of me. The day starts off with the elementary halls favorite event, the Colonel Walk. Every Friday morning the football team lines up behind the band, cheerleaders, and dance team to walk the very halls we did every school day in elementary. We shake hands, high-five, and hug the students that look up to us as upperclassman and the teachers that helped make us the young adults that we have become. Each year, senior football players are assigned to an elementary grade through football season. I was originally assigned sixth grade because my sister is in that grade. I gave that up for first grade so that two sixth grade boys could have their brothers assigned to their grade. It has turned out to be the perfect decision. After the Colonel Walk each Friday, I make sure to stick my head in the first grade classrooms to speak to all of the kids. Because I was a student helper to this year’s first graders for several years, I have known most of them first graders for three years or longer. Now senior year has come around and I get to spend my last high school football season with one of the best group of kids I have had the
The four-day school week has gained quite a bit of traction in the United States as of lately. In fact, The Education Commission has estimated that hundreds of districts in 17 states have made the transition. Also, there are state officials present within Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon and all have reported increases in the four-day schedule. It is a movement that grows by the month and is the way forward in education. Colby Public Schools absolutely should transition from a five-day school week to a four-day school week due to the benefits of this system. Colby Public Schools most certainly should switch to a four-day school week as it will lead to a saving of money, better in-depth interaction,
Football isn’t just about going on the field and playing 4 quarters against another team every week. It’s not just those Friday nights going to watch your high school team play. Football is a brotherhood, it’s your second family. It’s making memories that you will have with you for the rest of your life. It’s the hours of preparation, sweat, tears, blood, bumps and bruises and going back out everyday just to give it your all. Football isn’t just a game that i’ve played it’s something that has shaped me into the person I am today.
For a lot of kids, it’s not until it’s all said and done, and they look back on it several years later, that they realize the difference the sport made in their lives. They are proud of playing the game. Have you ever met anybody who accomplished playing four years of high school football, and at the end of that run said, ‘Man, I wish I wouldn’t have played’? It doesn’t get said. Football players aren’t perfect. Nobody is. But millions of former players, one by one, can recount the life-altering principles they learned from football. They know the value of football is the values in football. That’s why high school football – and particularly high school coaches – play such a vital role in our society. Our football coaches are on the front lines of the battle for the hearts and minds of the boys in our society.
It all started when I walked into Island Coasts High School’s open house. I didn’t know what to expect, and was filled with trepidation about whether or not I would even know enough about football to sign up. I made my way to the cafeteria in order to sign up. I met the coaches,
Throughout my years, I have mostly been associated with flag football. Stepping onto a football field takes a lot of guts and there was a time when I had to overcome my own doubts. Back in the Fall of 2015, my sophomore year, I was still a shrimp compared to my superior teammates. Every practice I would exhaust myself to prove my worthy to be on the team, but even more, on the field. Although I was the only player aiming to be quarterback, it did not mean I did not have to try. The second practice started, I felt rumbles within my heart. Of course Juniors and Seniors doubted my skill, that’s no surprise. I was determined to earn their respect no matter what.
Schools are so much a part of our society, so the accurate length of school days is extremely important. Public opinions on the length of the school days are different. There are a lot of parents and professors concerned that it is hard for children to go to school early in the morning and stay there the whole day. On the other side, some professors try to force students into a nine hour school day. Not so many years ago, school was a main part of my life, and the school days’ structure and length affected my social life and ability to study. From my own experience and some studies that I have seen, students benefit if school days are long.
Sub-point 1: Football has been a sport I began playing at a very young age, at 10 years old to be exact. It all began when my brother wanted to play a game with his older friends but were short of players, so he invited some of the younger neighborhood kids, myself included, to play. Ever since that one game, we had begun to organize these football games. Just to be clear, these games would take place in our alleyway as it was the closest empty open area. Our games would start roughly around 4pm considering school didn’t end until 2pm and yet still had homework to complete. Either way, we’d play until dark when we were no longer able to see the
65% of Americans with a four-day week have a major child care issue. Research shows that schools should not have a four-day week.
The roar of the crowds on opposite ends of the field are music to my hears. Thousands of different voices all spurting out a million separate ideas on how to set up our Aztec mascot tunnel, while the band blares out the latest pop hit insync. My heart pounds in my chest as I watch the football players take the field. I look up into the stands and see the joy on all of my friend’s faces. I smile as I recall all the hard work I’ve done in order to make this night, along with all the others, so memorable. This has been my world since that first home football game freshman year. ASB or the associated student body class I’ve taken the past three years of high school, truly has helped shaped me into the person I am today. By being actively involved
Being a scrawny exceedingly short fifth grader, I was surrounded by other fifth graders that seemed to tower over me like skyscrapers. It was a Scorching, sunny, beautiful Monday: but more specifically it was the first day of the football season. The nerves in my body started to take over and almost felt out of place because small skinny kids don't play football, but my love for football exceeded beyond my fear and allowed me to give it a shot.
Football is a favorite American pastime. Everywhere in America, young men in high school dream about one day playing for a college, or even a professional team. For them, it may have started at a young age, but it is most relevant when playing in high school. This dream is different for each individual, but each team has the same goal at the start of every season. This goal is to make the high school state football championship playoffs. Of all the things that the playoffs bring, the atmosphere of each game is what makes every practice and game worthwhile.

In this first unit of The First Days of School, Harry Wong presents three characteristics of an effective teacher. The three characteristics are: has good classroom management skills, teaches for mastery, and has positive expectations for student success.
The alarm clock buzzed loudly beside my ear. Feeling like a gong that was being hit repeatedly was placed right beside my head. I sluggishly pulled myself out of my bed and dragged myself to my closet. The words, first day of school moaned ghastly in my head. Summer was uneventful and school was just going to be hell. I picked out an old, worn out flannel and a pair of jeans to wear. Not rushing at all, I struggled to put the raggedy clothes on. They smelt like horrendous lies and rumors. Exactly what this state and my school are built on.
It was a cold fall morning at blossom town cemetery everyone was there for Mrs.Angels funeral. I felt like someone was watching me, I felt like eyes were watching my every move. Payton, violet,Brooke and I dressed in black dresses. It was Bridget Angels mother she was the most popular girl in school. She has long light brown hair and green eyes with tears coming out of them. Bridget never cared about her mother, she would always yell at her. Mrs.Angels used to be our high school social studies teacher until she quit a couple of months ago. Because Bridget told her to because it was too embarrassing for her mom working at our school. Mrs.Angels is a nice older lady, but she wasn't really old. She was sweet and was a really good teacher. Me and violet's blue eyes locked we looked to our left for Peyton and Brooke they weren't there. My heart was beating so fast I felt like it was about to burst out of my chest. I looked to my right and saw the leaves blowing off the trees, and Brooke and Payton walking away. Me and violet walked quietly over to them. We asked why they left.
