I worked at a preschool when I was 18 and I saw first hand the involvement from parents, volunteers, and the community. One example I have seen first hand the school had a sign-up sheet for parents to help out in the classrooms, whether it be a holiday party or another special event. We also had the police department and fire department come by and talk about safety, during our safety week. The police officers would talk about how to dial 911 and what they will need to know information wise for the person on the phone, for example their first and last name, what is wrong, who is hurt or who the call is for, the persons first and last name, as well as their address. They practiced situations that could happen and practiced the phone calls. The

All members of the staff must act as professionals while at work, especially with young children. The administrative and teaching staff must work together to ensure their practices are developmentally appropriate, and share new and/or creative ideas with one another. It is also the responsibility of a teacher to establish an open, trusting relationship with the parents of each children in their care. Thus, parents can freely communicate their thoughts, concerns, and/or suggestions about their child or the program. Parent satisfaction is something that every child care or development center should strive for.
I form a successful partnership with families that I work with by, communicating with parent that could be verbally or nonverbally with newsletters, or by a bulletin board. I create an atmosphere that is inviting and accessible for parents. For instance, greet parents as soon as they walk in the door. I invite parents to visit when it is convenient for them, not just during special events. I conduct
With different children in the class you have to make sure to keep each child’s learning to their levels. Keep researching new ways for the children to learn more information each week. Make sure to stay along licensing rules. Get trained in the fields I need so that I will know everything that I need to know for the children. Making sure to have them in a safe place so that they will feel safe there is important. Make sure to learn about the children’s families because knowing that information can help better understand the children. I will make sure to let the families always know the local school hours. Let the parents know about my program’s mission. Keeping the parents and other staff up to date on what I’m planning to do. Keeping my policies up to date such as communication with parents, curriculum, discipline and guidance, drop-off and pick-ups, emergency closings, others authorized to pick up the children, fees and payment arrangements, food and nutrition, etc. One of the most important things would just be keeping everyone up to
As stated earlier, I realized from early on that one of my main purposes in life was to be an aid and helping hand to others, and as I went through life, I began to notice that I was especially sensitive to the needs of children. I believe that children are one of the most underserved population groups amongst us, as a whole. I understand that there a multitude of organizations that are directed at serving children. However, I do not believe that these organizations reach enough children. There are too many children that have yet to be reached and helped. With this being so, I believe that a program focused on not only
An integral part of all of my roles is the welfare of the children. Building secure relationships with them and being aware of any issues which may arise. If I have concerns for a child’s well being, the actions I would take include; relaying concerns to the class teacher, learning mentor, SENCO,
For the classroom observation assignment I was able to observe at Stepping Stones Family Childcare and Preschool Program. I conducted observations for five hours each on the dates of September 24th and September 25th of the year 2015. This licensed home-based daycare and preschool program is located in a quiet suburban neighborhood on 4103 Bryant Street, Blasdell, New York. The facility allows for a twelve-child capacity (ages 6 weeks to 12 years with four additional school age) and is owned and founded by Kim Bannister. When I observed, there were two additional staff present. Therefore, there were a total of 3 adults and 12 children at the center when I observed. New York State Senator Marc C. Panepinto was also present on September 25th as he read to the children and toured the home. I chose this specific setting as I personally thought it would be an interesting dynamic to study how a home-based preschool program is run.
If they move and have to go to a new school, make new friends ect. As a parent or teacher you can comfort them and let them get used to where they are and not feel nervous or scared about being somewhere new and unfamiliar and help them to make friends, by asking them to join in activities, join an after school club or an out of school club where they will meet new people and get to know
Working with children can be difficult and time consuming because you never know what is going on unless they allow you into their world. Children will only allow a stranger in if they are scared of someone, have trust, or they know you well. This can serve as a difficult situation when a child is the victim of abuse or neglect and the outcome can lead to a negative outcome for the future of the child’s lifespan. The areas will involve mental and physical issues, poor academic development, social behavior issues, and health problems. As a human service worker and a leader in the community rather it be

Meeting the child's needs: Helping the child to feel safe and secure and to reassure them that their parent will come back for them.
In reflection the impact that role models and teachers have upon children and young adults is beyond measure, I will strive to become the best role model I can be in order to make a difference to my students. I've had two successful placements volunteering with children of mixed ages. During my time with Orchard Day nursery I was able to gain experience working alongside various members of nursery staff and after school staff. I also worked directly with children from infants and toddlers right up to 13-14 year olds in the after school clubs. I experienced for the first time how challenging these different age groups can be, however through strategic planning I was able to keep the children engaged and interested in both the play activities and educational activities I had set for them. Dealing with confrontational children and diffusing situations was at first something I had not envisaged myself being able to deal with, however, when an argument arose during after school club I was able to use my excellent communicative skills and draw upon my vast managerial experience applying myself in a calm professional manner in order to ensure everyone was happy. I also volunteered at Childwall Church of England Primary School and I was assigned to helping out some of the

The client, Julie*, called into the Crisis Center Hotline looking for immediate shelter for herself and her two young children. At that time, our shelter was not full and therefore had space for the mother and her children. I went through the procedural routine of making sure that she was not in the center’s blue books, a record of clients not allowed to receive shelter and/or services, and seeing if she had an alpha card already completed, this would mean that she was a previous client at the shelter and already had a file. Julie* did was not found in either source. At that point, I began to complete the shelter intake paperwork with her over the phone. The first two pages of the intake are completed first with the client. These pages find out more about the client’s demographics, her current physical and mental health state, how many children she has and if she could be pregnant at the time, her abuser’s demographics, and the presenting primary abuse occurring. I completed these two pages with Julie* and then from that point an approval staff member will tell you if you can complete the rest of the intake or tell the client that at the time we cannot offer them services. Julie* was approved to complete the rest of the intake paperwork. The majority of the rest of the intake paperwork is a more detailed explanation of the first two pages. These pages help the approval staff and I see if the client raises any major concerns and allows us to prepare for her stay
