“The Diary of a young girl” is an autobiographical novel written Anne Frank which details her experiences during the time of Nazi revolution. The book was conceived right after Anne received a diary as a birthday gift from her father, Otto Frank. Being the main character, Anne displays a spirit of endurance which is exemplified throughout the text. In deed endurance serves as a unique human spirit as characterized by Anne Frank, whereby she is able to endure the challenges that she faced in her childhood life (Frank 2).

For instance at the last months of her own Diary, Anne is seen to do a lot self soul searching, trying to come up with a sensible explanation pertaining the situation she was in. This literary work truly shows how Anne Frank was a martyr of racism and an insightful chronicler of her time period and place. The work also shows the typical adolescence of Anne Frank and her constant arguments with her mother in particular. It also deals with the day to day hiding she and her family went through. The only problem with the book is that the fact that Anne Frank rewrote her diary about two months before she was captured because she wanted her journal to be published after the war and she wanted to peruse a career in journalism. Therefore it is hard to tell what existed in her original copy and how much did she add afterwards.

Anne, being a Jewish girl of a family of four, tells through diary entries how it was like for her during WWII. She lived in Holland, which put her along with her family at a risk of being taken to the concentration camps. Being faced with this problem caused her family to go to the extend of hiding for years in order to survive. They all had to adapt to a new way of living, one where they had no contact with the rest of civilization.
