Did your high school prepare you for college? For me I say no, due to a few factors I lacked entering my freshman year. In today’s society young teenage adults are going to college believing themselves ready, may be in for a rude awakening. One reason for not being prepared is having to take remedial classes once accepted into college. Many students that take the college placement test score below college level. This make them have to basically retake information that should have been obtained during high school and the professors has no sympathy at all once entering the college life. While this is effective on us it make our self-conscience a little low because we fill as if we are not smart enough. When in reality the information we learned was not preparing us for the next level. All High schools should be well aware of this and do their best to accommodate the students that are looking for this type of future. Another reason is not being pushed to take advanced classes. I experienced many teachers just try to push student to get the basics so they would earn their high school diploma. When in reality this is not preparing us for the college work. Homework is barely given in high school. Teachers try to get as much done in class and tell the students to just review their notes. I think that is terrible. Personally, I think homework should be given at least three times a week to help the brain continue outside of class and also help with time management. Once entering college to be successful you should at least study the number of hours out of class that you’re in class. This is a big difference once in college and you have never had to accommodate this skill while in high school. It’s almost as if you’re being set up to fail because so much is expected from you and you become overwhelmed with the college life that you should already be prepared
