Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt are very influential individuals in the political development of the United States of America and are key to the history of the US. There are several differences and similarities between Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt. Franklin Delano Roosevelt [FDR], was a Democrat and the 32nd President of the United States. The Democrats nominated Franklin Roosevelt as their candidate for president in 1932 against the incumbent Hoover. Roosevelt was elected in a landslide victory in part due to his platform called "The New Deal". ( He won a record of four presidential elections. He took instantaneous actions to address the country’s economic afflictions by publicizing a four day “bank holiday” during which all the banks would be closed so that congress could pass reform legislation and reopen those banks determined to be sound. He also began broadcasting to the public over the radio in a series of talks, which were referred to as the “fireside chats.” These chats went a long way towards reestablishing the confidence of public. He is well known for his temperament, interests, and achievements. Although there were no wars at the time, his slogan was reinforced by sending the expanded US Navy and the Great White Fleet on a world tour. “TR negotiated an end to the Russo-Japanese War, for which he won the Nobel Peace Prize. Theodore Roosevelts presidency ended the Gilded Age.” (Solheim, Bruce, 21-22) “Not only had Roosevelt alienated big business, he was also attacking both the judiciary and the deep faith Republicans had in their judges (most of whom had been appointed by McKinley, Roosevelt or Taft.) In the 1910 Congressional elections, Democrats swept to power, and Taft’s reelection in 1912 was increasingly in doubt.” (Blum, John Morton, 252). When comparing these two presidents, it is vitally important to first of all highlight that both presidents were without any doubts, great personalities and they by right, occupy their places on the historical pages of the development of the US. They both were concerned with the interests of the people and they did their best to help them go through the difficult times
