In the world today there’s a wide variety of styles of government. Some forms are obtained through brute force and the ill will of dictators. Some are formed from the election of the citizens of a particular nation, for example the United States. The main form of Government that the U.S. takes is representative democracy. This allows the citizens to be represented by a smaller group, which in turn greatly reduces complications when deciding things like voting processes. The other afore mentioned government would be authoritarian government. This would include dictatorships, communism, fascism, and many more. This form allows the government to be in almost or total control of all national process and procedures. Although the two government selections seem very contradictory, they do have some similarities.

The United States of America and china have very different political culture. They both have many similarities and differences. The United States of Americas politics are based on equality of all people and equality opportunity. China differs in many ways politically but most importantly in equality. China does have most of the same rights but they are not always followed. Most women do not receive the same opportunities and are not treated the same.

Each country has its own kind of education, and education always plays an important role in affecting students’ life and study on many aspects. Having received ten years of education in China and two years of education in the U.S. I would like to compare and contrast a few significant aspects of these two different kinds of educations. Knowing that no two education systems are the same, the differences between American education and Chinese education allow countries to take the essence and discard the dross through learning from each other so as to improve their own current education systems.

When I was 10 years old, my mom and I went to Shanghai for a month and a half. Shanghai was very entertaining, it was very different from America in some ways, yet it also was in some ways very similar to America. Surprisingly, the most popular restaurant in Shanghai is actually KFC. The most popular part of Shanghai is on the other side of the river from all the buildings, known as “The Bund”. The view from the riverside was an amazing view, so everybody went there to see the skyline and take pictures. The metro station to go to the riverside was about 3 blocks away from the real riverside, so you had to walk through the main marketplace. Since this area was the most tourists visited the place, there were a lot of businesses and stores there.

The thing that surprised me the most was the similarities between the US and China. We are on completely different sides of the globe, yet we are so much alike. The Chinese government has developed a system of internal laws regarding human rights, but don’t enforce them on their own citizens. As a result of this, the people of China don’t mind. It is an important part of Chinese culture to be very Patriotic and do what is better for the country and not better for one self. In many other cultures, only a small percentage of the citizens actually want to be patriotic and do what is better for the country, for example, fight in a war. China is a developing country lacking much Human Rights Influence.

Shanghai, China is always one of the first to get the new curriculum when they change it. Shanghai is always looking to improve their students. Their curriculum is broken down into eight categories. It is structured into language and literature, mathematics, natural science, social sciences, technology, arts, physical education, and practicum. The three sections the curriculum is arranged in is core subjects, elective courses, and extra- curricular activities. America’s curriculum is broken up into English, mathematics, science, history, physical education, and an elective. What are the differences between Chinese American, and Chinese-American? The two terms seem similar to each other since it contains two nationalities, Chinese and American; however, there are different meanings between the four words. Chinese American is an American citizen, who prefers being an American to a Chinese man while having a Chinese ascendancy. From his words, the hyphenated form of Chinese-American is not just about the type of American, but also about race and nationality. The term is used to mark the importance of ethnicity: no matter you are from China, or you live in China, you are always considered as the Chinese.
