Religion 101
Islam and Christianity are wide spread religions in the world. Contrast based on five pillars of Islam and Christianity rituals. In this paper I will explain their differences and similarities based on Prothero and Paden, using paradigms “rituals”. The concept of rituals are more important in understanding religion.
Prothero admits that Christianity is the great religion in the world this is not mean that Islam is not popular religion in fact he compare Islam with fast growing religion which mean people from other religion also follow the Islam and the growing rate is more than Christianity. Islam religion believe in the only God, “Allah” which they consider as the true God. Muhammad is God’s

Many rituals play an important role while preforming prayer and before start it. Muslims must engage to ritual washing, with water. This washing symbolizes the purification of oneself before entering the presence of God. But Christian are usually doing their worship on Sundays but there is no any type of rituals are considered in Christian prayer. Muslims do not have any professional priests, ministers or religious hierarchy as Christians do. The third pillar is zakat or almsgiving is based on assets. Moreover, the fourth pillar of Islam is sawn (fasting). In the Islamic year one of the month, Ramadan, is the time of fast is conducted. During that month, Muslims are not supposed to eat, drink, smoke, or sexual relations during the daylight hours. The purpose of the fast is for Muslims to confess theirs sin, purity themselves before God and make pledges to live more fully for God during the coming year. There is no place of sawn in Christianity religion. The last pillar is the hajj. The pilgrimage is supposed to make by every Muslims at least one in their lifetime, if possible.
Christianity split into three main branches in the Roman Catholicism, Orthodoxy and protested reformed. Nicene Creed is accepted by all three branches. Nicene creed is based on faith statement that brief summarizes the major Christian teachings and it include doctrine of the trinity, virgin birth, crucifixion, resurrection of Christ and belief in “one holy universal and apostolic
Religion is a universal term that is widely used for a human’s belief system. The views on how religions compare to one another can be defined differently. One view explains religions using a united belief system by their common goals. Another view explains that different religions are just a shared essence and have vast differences between their specific traditions and customs. This shared essence, but vastly different theory, is explained by Stephen Prothero, using the term “pretend pluralism”. There are many major and minor religions that have guided people in their morals and beliefs. Religions, such as Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. All five of these current, major religions have vast differences, but may have common goals in their morals, traditions, etc. Two of the most practiced religions, of these five, are Christianity and Islam. These two religions are constantly at battle with one another, but what many people don’t see is that there are just as many similarities between these two religions as there are differences. Through this paper we will discover the underlying similarities and differences between these two religions and, hopefully, conclude that supports either the common goal theory or the “pretend pluralism” theory.
The world could end in a million different ways; by war, aliens or global warming; it seems every person has a theory as to what will happen. Christians and Muslims both have prediction and prophecy telling what insanity will ensue when the earth ceases to exist. Islam and Christianity have some very similar theories and also some very contrasting theories.
Islam and Christianity have so much similarities than people tend to perceive. The main differences between Islam and Christianity include their place of worship, view of Jesus, Holy scriptures, certain practices and even the use of images and statues. People who practice Islam are known as Muslims and people who practice Christianity are called Christians.
In Wikipedia religion is defined“A religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and worldviews that relate humanity to an order of existence.” There are approximately more than four thousand religion in the world. Christianity and Islam are part of the major significant religion.
Christianity and Islam are two of history’s most influential and powerful religions in the post-classical and early modern era. As different regions began to communicate, products, ideas, and services were exchanged across vast distances. Civilizations became less isolated and depended on other regions to sustain stable economies. The role of the merchant increased as trade arose with other regions. Initially, Christianity despised trade, but as time progressed, merchant activity became more widely accepted. On the other hand, Islam initially accepted trade, but became less tolerant of the activity as time progressed. From the origin of the two major religions to about 1500, Christian and Muslim thoughts concerning merchant activity gradually trended in opposite directions. According to the documents, Christianity initially despised trade while Islam accepted merchant activity, but the two religions’ attitudes reversed by about 1500.
Christianity believes in one god that is represented trough the trinity: Father, son, and holy spirit The trinity is sometimes confusing to non-christens who think the trinity represents three gods. Christianity grew out of Judaism, Jew's who accepted Jesus as the messiah were considered to be Christians. My Professor Steven Rossi said "The Jews were a strong influence on early Christan church" ,and he is correct, Jewish tradition and bible were used until the new testament was created. Christians are expected to follow the 10 commandments from the old testament also they are expected to follow Jesus's teachings called the two great commandments. The two great commandments display the main focus of many Christians which is love god and love your neighbor following these laws allows christens to reach heaven. (Molly 343-347)
Many people in the United States don’t realize how different all the religions around the world are however, there are also the same in many ways as well. The religions that are going to be talked about, are two religions that are commonly known across the world. Christianity has over 2 billion followers across the world. The Islamic religion has about 1.6 billion followers around the world. The word followers is referred to the people who believe in the certain religion, it does not mean that these people are huge followers, however. There are many facts about the Christianity and the Islamic religion, but each one has differences and similarities that are worth mentioning.
As of today, Christianity and Islam are the world’s two largest and rapidly growing religions. They share an estimated 3.6 billion followers, more than half of the world’s population. Initially the two religions may seem to have nothing in common, but when you go beyond the surface and examine the rituals, beliefs, and founders, as well as the spread of both religions, they share many similarities. In many ways, there is irony in tension between Christianity and Islam, given the extremely similar history and nature of their religions. It is perhaps lost on many people who subscribe to these religions that there is no more truth to one than the other. But when observed from an objective viewpoint it is undeniable that both Christianity and Islam are remarkably similar in origin and ideology. In order to see and understand their similarities, it is important to look back to the birth and rise of both religions.
Religion was impactful to both the Byzantine Empire and the Islamic Caliphates. How these religions began and changed are very different. Both had an impactful split of religion and government which caused people of the same religion to fight. In addition, people being united by religion caused both of these empires to become global superpowers. In contrast, the role of Christianity and Islam were much different. The Islamic Religion had a belief of "Dar al Isam" which lead the Islamic Caliphates to take over the Byzantine Empire.
Islam and Christianity are the largest religion in the world and share many common beliefs. The two religions co-exist in many parts of the world. However, each religion has it is own territories where they are the dominant religion. The two religions share almost the same history of inception and concepts of faith. Despite, being similar in many ways, they also have marked differences. The differences have led to mutual distrust between the Christians and the Muslims. Many Muslims have come out openly to criticize the Christian religion and Christians have written many articles condemning the Islam religion. The differences and similarities appear in many aspects of the religions. As such, it is easier to discuss them intensively by restricting the discussion to selected aspects. The life after death and belief in the Supreme Being by the believers of Christianity and Islam religions has many differences and similarities.
Christianity and Islam are some of the largest religions in the world today. Relative to the massive followers there are quite some intriguing differences and similarities that can be found between the two, from their beliefs, their origin, practices and doctrines (Redditt). The Christians belief in the holy trinity, which comprises of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, while the Islam believe in Allah as their God and Mohamed as the true Prophet. While there are quite a number of differences between the two religions, there are also similarities to match. One of the major similarities is the fact that the two are Abrahamic religions, meaning that they both believe that there is only one God. This paper delves into the aspect of the afterlife and that of deities between the two religions, by trying to establish the main differences and similarities.
Christianity and Islam are wide spread religions which impact the lives of believers spiritually. Both religions have had substantial impact on the course of history and have formed the basis of many countries laws and are highly recognized by governments. Though Christianity is more widely known, they both pose the same challenges to each other. Considering the similarities and differences of Christianity and Islam, it can be said they are both very different.
Islam and Christianity are the two largest religions in the world. Both have billions of followers behind them, and they have been instrumental in shaping culture, borders, and world history as we know it. Historically, this has lead to a rival attitude between members of either religion, where both religions have been threatened by the presence of the other. Because of this, in both cultures, xenophobia is not uncommon, and even in modern times it may seem as if the differences between Islam and Christianity are insurmountable. But as it turns out, this is not exactly the case. Islam and Christianity are religions that are invariably linked, and have been since either one’s conception. Many of the teachings and beliefs of both religions, as a result of this, are surprisingly similar, with less differences than one would at first expect.
Conflicts, clashes, misunderstandings, and misconceptions represent an image of ignorance, sometimes, or a sign of prejudice. When it comes to religions, the situation escalates to be a real serious issue. Islam, and since its existence, has faced many struggles with many people who think of it as an outrageous religion that pushes people to kill, treat unfairly, and think criminally. However, Islam by name is a message of peace. The word Islam was taken from the word Salam, which simply means peace in Arabic. Additionally, the ideal of this religion is to worship one god –Allah– and believe that Mohammad is his messenger. Many of the legalizations of Islam call for concord and peace and fight a common wickedness; nevertheless, there are still some many people who are not aware of what the real meaning of this religion is and how it is rooted in Judaism and Christianity. Therefore, it is a religion that belongs to the same tree of the other divine religions mentioned before. Anyhow, since Islam and Christianity or Islam and Judaism are divine religions, why did they both exist? Why was not there only one religion? Well, a question like that cannot be answered with a simple answer. It is a matter of some many historical incidents that created that division in these religions. Overall, Islam and Christianity are very similar and compatible in many different ways although they have major differences.
Islam and Christianity are wide spread religions in the world. These two major world religions have different belief systems and their common originality, values and some beliefs have enabled most of their believers to respect and try to understand each other's faith.
