For decades Disney has given the wrong impression of female gender roles. Today many of the aspects such as women being the weaker sex and set roles for each denomination have not changed as much as the society thinks. Looking at male and female characters in animations, one can see how those two genders are portrayed differently in terms of their roles. In this case, Disney has crossed the line portraying gender stereotypes to their films, especially stereotypes of women. Disney films are creating major problems by teaching society how women should act and look. In a research made by Hanes, Stephanie from “The Christian Science Monitor”, “She decided to research the princess phenomenon, and what she found worried her. She found that the $4 billion Disney Princess Empire was the first step down a path to scarier challenges, from self-objectification to cyberbullying to unhealthy body images.” As seen in this research, Disney affects women lifestyle in different ways by changing the female image …show more content…

In this document by a student with a masters in journalism from the University of London, she made an interview to one of the business man that manage Disney and this is what happened, “Do you feel that Disney creates role models that inspire or empower young girls? Yes, absolutely. We are consistently looking at ways to demonstrate positive messages through our stories. We find kids have a magical, lifelong relationship with our characters. At the core of their stories, it is their inner qualities and bravery that always shines through and defines them, and we hope these characteristics will be an inspiration to kids and adults alike.” So at least Disney is now working on positive messages to influence children around the globe and try to make a difference with this
