Professor Faden is a film/media teacher at Bucknell University in Lewisburg Pennsylvania. He received his PhD. while in Florida. Now in addition to teaching he makes some films and writes papers on film and media. When doing these things he would have to have a good understanding of copyright laws so as not to break them when creating works. Faden demonstrates this knowledge when making the “A Fair(y) Use Tale”, by not committing copyright infringement on Disney Studios. Walt Disney Studios are a company that was founded in on October 16, 1923 in Los Angeles. Disney has been known to go after people who use their works, like the three daycares that were sued in 1989, but in many of those cases copyright infringement was actually committed. This case is different because all of the fair use laws are met and Disney cannot prove that their rights were infringed upon. …show more content…

The video that he made was used for nonprofit education.Creating works for this reason is stated as being fair use in the library of congress's website. Faden created this video to teach about the laws and regulations of copyright, fair use, copyright infringement, the public domain, and the duration of copyright. In the video it even states that states the different uses that fall under fair use such as news reporting, parody, critical comment, and teaching which is what he is using this video for. Throughout the video Faden uses a wide variety of clips from different Disney but he never uses more than he needs to. The University of Maryland University College’s guidelines for how much of a copyrighted work you can use include only using the amount you need, and not exceeding the expectation of how much you can use. Faden demonstrates this by using only what he needs to get his point
