I interviewed my brother Michael Joseph Kerrigan he is an engineer for SSOE which stands for Samborn, Steketee, Otis & Evans the founders of the company. he does several different things, such ac presentations for the project he is working. Most of the work he does hast to do with the design of semiconductor factories and he also designes cooling systems in warehouses.
The amount of work he does mostly depends on the deadline and the size of the project if he has a bigger project then he will need to work more and he is still paid on an hourly rate and hr still gets overtime. The education you need is at least a bachelor's degree in engineering and around a 3.0 grade point average but if you are a good candidate you can still be picked even if it is slightly lower than 3.0. He told me that there are three things that you can do if you do too of them you will do well. 1. Whatever you do do a good job, 2, always do things on time. 3. Be a nice person to be around and be a good teammate. His job requires him to be good with working with people he may not know people he may not like but no matter what he does he works as hard as he can and tries to as good of a job

When he first started he was very interested in seeing something exist and people being able to reap benefits of what you made gives him a sense of pride and confidence that next time he can make it even better but he told me no matter how well you did last time the next one is an opportunity to do even better than last time. He said if there was one thing that he could of china in his path to being an engineer was that he wished he paid more attention in college even though he got fine grades he forgot a lot of it and he had to relearn to be able to get a better job position and he would not have to do that if he focused
Furthermore, the power of context is the things in the environment can change people’s behaviors. This will let them know what kinds of actions are properly doing at what time. Lofferda proposes that some higher level people in the society always do not have good behaviors and take advantages of gays, she states that “the Supreme Court upheld a Cincinnati ordinance that denied gays and lesbians legal protection from discrimination in housing, employment, and other public accommodations” (249). This quote shows that even in higher government, the gays cannot get the same treatment like the housing and employees as the other residents. The surroundings around them are really terrible. They cannot get really benefits and advantages from the society or the government.
Many outstanding articles, books, journals and papers have been written regarding the topic of workforce diversity. Some are relatively short papers such as Diversity in the Workplace published by the University of Florida, and seek to provide the reader with a basic understanding of what is meant by workplace diversity, as well as the potential benefits to both employers and employees alike. Other resources can be significantly more in-depth and explore subtopics of workplace diversity including the effects of marriage on work place attitudes, or how to effectively manage the cultural and demographic differences within a firm’s labor pool. Information regarding generalities in different cultures around the globe is also available as a resource for those seeking to understand customs in mannerisms and body language across varying cultures. In addition to the many websites and literature available to employers, there are also companies such as Big World Inc., whose does business under the name of Diversity Resources, offers training tools and services geared towards providing customized solutions for firms wishing to outsource training programs for employees including harassment, conflict resolution, international team building, gender bias or any one of a number of other topics related to diversity.
It is a known fact that in order for companies to flourish, excellent leadership practices and employees go hand-in-hand. What most companies have failed to acknowledge is how diversity within the workplace, especially in management and executive leadership, does not have a very strong presence. Numerous executives have embraced the fact that their hiring practices are inconsistent with their new motto (we do not discriminate…), but fail to realize that it is more of an internal issue than it is external. The government has tried to regulate some of the practices of hiring and firing applicants. The Americans with Disabilities Act includes protection from discrimination based on a disability as well as requirements for employers and those
employees I worked with were in their early 20s, we have an employer who was like almost 50 years old, which was a huge age difference. I feel like having a older employee was important, because she was an employee who was very mature and dependable. The older employee I worked with had more work experience, and she also have been working at that store longer than us, so she has better insight about the company than us. For instance, when a customer was giving us a hard time, she would always know how to handle the situation in the right way. I feel like when having her as an older employee, she keep us on track to do the right thing within the workplace.
Franz Boas said, “If we were to select the most intelligent, imaginative, energetic, and emotionally stable third of mankind, all races would be present.” Your parents’ prosperity and fortune does not determine the level of opulence that you are able to achieve in your life, neither does the color of your skin. The meaning of equality is that two or more things are the same or identical. Even if they have one or two characteristics that are equal they will not have equivalent qualities. People think that others have the advantage when they really do not. If one thinks another has an unfair advantage and that they should be blessed with the same advantage, they need to realize that an advantage isn’t really an advantage. When one person is
I would hope that my colleagues would express that I was able to provide them a positive and same work environment, which allowed them to wake up each day and not dread the thought of coming to work each day. I would like to hear that each day they came to work despite the challenges, they were happy to be a part of my team. I would hope to hear that I was a great listener, which allowed them the opportunity to be innovated and create their own path to contribute to the team accomplishing the mission. I would like to hear that I had empathy for others and I treated everyone on my team fairly, in addition to respecting their abilities. I would hope to hear that I was a mentor to them and I helped them accomplish their goals. I would hope to
I personally enjoy learning and collaborating with others. Its important to be able to work with others and make it work. It can be frustrating working with someone with no initiative and doesn't care about the task at hand. Learning how to deal with others is an important skill to have. I once had to work in a group with four other people. One of my classmates Brain was in charge of putting everything together and creating a power point. The power point was suppose to be emailed to everyone three days before it was due and no one received it. After several attempts to receive the power point I created it. I could have been upset and complained about doing extra work but that doesn't solve anything. My grade was way more important and
Leaders make the mental environment that encourages supported advancement at all levels. The test is that as an association develops, administration structures and organizations, intended to channel development, have a tendency to make obstructions to little scale upgrades.
In my current profession, I work with individuals from many different foreign countries. The overall most respectful and jovial clients I encounter are all from Brazil. They genuinely enjoy life and spread that joy to anyone around them. The Brazilians that I have been fortunate enough to work with are honest and trustworthy. They stand by their promises and always keep their word. Their positive attitude and ethics set a high standard that I believe the majority of Americans could learn from. We tend to be less charismatic and all business when dealing with others. Standing by our word and honoring our promises are also becoming less prevalent with Americans in today’s business world.
For the final paper in this class I want to focus on diversity in the workplace and the added benefits and issues that can accompany a diverse workforce. The reason I choose to focus on diversity in the work environment, is because I feel like a diverse pool of employees in gender, race, age and ethnic backgrounds can lead to a more productive organization. It seems like a relatively easy organizational practice that can create an increase in motivation and quality production and innovation. By increasing the number of parties represented in an organization, a business can begin to have a wide variety of viewpoints on certain business plans. By having a number of employees with a variety of backgrounds, an organization can market to a variety
I currently work for a financial institution located in Wilmington, Delaware. This organization has being around since 1988 with a history of innovation, from a small bank division to now a fortune 500 company, I must say that I absolutely love; working for this company. I am always in high spirit to go to work in the morning; because my employer cares about me. My supervisor has an open door policy; I can stop by his office anytime without a schedule meeting. Also, He values my opinion, believes in me, and always looking for ways to help me accomplish both my personal and team goals. My job is home away from home, I fit perfectly in this organization and adapt well to its changes, and I always had some of their culture instilled in me, because I think independently, especially when collaborating with others and never timid to share my creative ideas with senior managers.
In a world where diversity is becoming more common than not, it still seems to be the cause of some people being the minority in the work place. Diversity is defined as being a state of variety or a range of different things. A business can be diverse in a way that their people present different skill sets. In order to grow and learn, a business must be run with a diverse group of people teaching their skills, expanding their horizons and putting their passion to the test to make sure their business is successful in every way. People can be diverse in the way that they look or the way that they think or speak. If there was no diversity in the work place, then there would be nothing to
Different people see diversity from different perspective. Its concept is based on acceptance and respect. It means understanding the fact that every individual is special, and acknowledging the differences between people. These difference may be attributed to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious believes, political believes, or other philosophy. Diversity encompasses the analysis of these differences in a very safe, positive and supportive environment. The understanding between every individual should be looked beyond tolerating one another, it should be built on supporting and celebrating the immeasurable features of diversity that is found within everyone. In today’s global market, there is more diversity than ever in the workplace from the highest employee to the bottom of the organizational chart. Diversity encompasses age, gender, various ethnic groups and races, cognitive style, education, and background. Diversity is also a lot more money at the mall were not in a year of one or all of that each on home and sexual orientation, religion, and social status (Nelson, 2013, p. 47). These areas are just a part of diversity. Diversity also involves how workers identify themselves as well as the manner they perceive other individuals. These varied perceptions will have an effect on the manner in which a person interacts with co-workers or superiors, and consumers. Introducing
Thomas (1992) entails the diversity at workplace in terms of all ancestry, ethnicity, age, gender, race, educational background, sexual orientation, marital status, religious belief, income, geographic location and work experience. The mobility in human resource trend is emerging within the competitive market that requires more strategic role on account of human resource management. Organizations may fall in dire consequences of outplaying by other competitors in strategic employment. Nowadays, workforce is no longer a set of employees (Narasimhan, 2004). It is composed of workforce constituting employees that work for operating remotely, compensated hourly or might be actually working for some external firm. The ethnic minorities in the
