Eliduc is a knight who is involved in a love triangle in Marie de France’s, “Eliduc”. In the beginning, we find out about his wife, Guildeluec. At first, Marie de France makes us think that Eliduc is this super important knight who serves the king of Brittany. It is clear that he is loved and respected by him because he gives him a lot of benefits because he is his knight. Then, there are other knights who accuse Eliduc and get him banished. Before he leaves though, he promises his wife, Guildeluec that he will be faithful to her and their marriage. It comforts her that her husband will be faithful to her while he is gone.
Exposition: The story is set in Athens, Greece. Theseus and Hippolyta are both noble and wealthy and they were planning their wedding in 4 days. Hermia and Lysander were in love, but another guy named Demetrius was also in love with Hermia. Helena loves Demetrius but is all alone, because he does not love her. Egeus who is Hermia’s father is not happy about her relationship with Lysander, he wants her to marry Demetrius. Hermia and Lysander plan to run away to another city to be married. Helena tell Demetrius the plan hoping that he will forget Hermia and fall in love with her.

After Alatiel realizes all that happened to the ship and everyone on it she “weeps bitterly'; (49). At this point Alatiel’s unbelievable adventures begin. She is taken to Pericone’s house. Pericone falls in love with her and wants to sleep with her. Alatiel tells her servants that “she herself had decided never to let anyone but her husband enjoy her'; (50). Pericone gets Alatiel drunk and into bed with him. Alatiel’s values aren’t so strong because Pericone gets her to sleep with him.
