Elijah & Malala
Elijah was a prophet around the time of the reign of King Ahab and King Ahaziah in 853-852 BC. He was seeing that idol worshipping was going on by Jezebel and King Ahab. He wanted to tell the Hebrews to pray to the one and only God and give glory to him. Follow the commandments God gave Moses on Mount Sinai. Do not worship other idols because you are confused. God’s name in Hebrew is “My God is Yahweh.” because of this Jezebel wanted to kill him. She tried to kill him multiple times but she failed because God was on Elijah’s side.
A young girl, named Malala Yousafzai, was born on July 12,1997 in Mingora, Pakistan. She was like any other girl, but as she got older she began to fight for girls education. One day coming home from school Malala was on a bus and a man who had a gun said “Who is Malala? If no one responds you all will be killed.” Malala responded and that resulted with getting shot in the head. Although before she was shot she said to the man “Okay, shoot me, but what you are doing is wrong. I’m not against you, personally. I just want every girl to go to school.” Malala was close to death, but she survived and won a Nobel Peace Prize. Malala and Elijah are alike because they both did the right thing and almost ended up dying because of it.

She prays for others because she doesn’t want anyone to get hurt even the man who shot her. She has instructed the ignorant by fight for girls education. She has also forgiven the people of Pakistan for shooting her. She also is living the corporal works of mercy because she has her own fundraiser for the poor. She is raising money to shelter the homeless, give drink to the poor, and feed the hungry. Her fundraiser is called “ The Malala Fund” and kids all over the world are joining
“We were scared, but our fear was not as strong as our courage.” In the years of 1945 and 1997, two people of great significance were put in situations of cruelty and immense death. Elie Wiesel from Night describes his experiences of being sent to a Nazi Germany Camp at the age of fifteen during the Holocaust. Malala Yousafzai from I Am Malala expressed fighting against the Taliban for women's rights and education. Malala and Ellie are different as Malala is a victim of terrorism, whereas Elie is a victim of the Holocaust. Although they are very similar in the ways of both of them growing quickly because of conflict and they risked their lives for specific reasons. While both endured dreadful situations, Elie and Malala were able to survive and tell their story of their individual situations.
It began as an ordinary day in Mingora, Pakistan, for a young girl returning home from school on her school bus. Suddenly, a masked gunman rushed into the bus and shouted, “Who is Malala?” Her friends on the bus looked back at her, and in the blink of an eye she was shot on the left side of her face. This incident was the spark that ignited a call for change in education around the world. Malala Yousafzai was the face of this change. She made significant contributions to female education rights by being an education activist and urging children to speak out and fight for their rights. She forever changed the lives of Pakistani girls who today benefit from free education and resources with numerous schools around their country.
Malala Yousafzai is a women and children activist born in Mingora, Pakistan on July 12th 1997. While growing up, she began advocating for the right to education among girls . Due to her persistence and determination in her activism, on October 9th 2012 Malala was shot on her way home from school by a gunman. She survived the incident and became more passionate towards her fight for education for young females. This incident gave her popularity and in 2013 Malala became nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, which she won in 2014. Malala became the youngest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize (Yousafzai 481). Due to the problems that young females had been facing in Pakistan and worldwide, it was essential to understand her education, the oppression by the Taliban, the devotion towards her religion named Islam and activism on the basis of the novel ‘I Am Malala’.
Malala Yousafzai believes that education is a basic right for every person. Malala, born July twelfth, nineteen ninety-seven is an activist for girls education. She was shot at just fifteen years old as a result of her life as an activist. Malala was nominated for the twenty-thirteen Nobel Peace Prize, but she did not win it. Many people have mixed feelings about the outcome of her nomination for the prestigious award. Malala believes that education is the basic right of boys and girls, men and women everywhere. The controversy which surrounds her life is a direct result of these beliefs, and is the reason she was shot.
Malala was a special girl. She lived in Mingora, Pakistan, where it eventually was controlled by Taliban. She attended a school that her father founded which was taken away by the laws against education for girls that the Taliban was creating to destroy. In the year of 2009, she became a blogger for BBC to talk about the horror of the control that the Taliban were achieving. But on the same year, she was threatened was eventually shot in the head by a Taliban. It was an ordinary day and “Malala was sitting in her school bus when a man climbed on board and demanded to know “Which one of you is Malala?” When she answered, “I am Malala”, the man opened fire” (Kennedy- Macfoy). However she survived the bullet and actually gave one of the biggest messages ever, education for all girls. No one knew should would live and will make a change on the gender roles towards education, especially the Tailban who thought they have gotten away of the assassination. She gave a lot of speeches towards this powerful disapproval of women education and to create a stand that women deserve the right to education themselves. As her ideas and message became to spread, “she became one of the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize” (Kettler). She also got her own day called Malala day on July 12, 2015 where she continued to take action on women education and with Malala funds she was able to open a school in Lebanon. Malala became a symbol over the education for girls and the disagreement towards gender
Malala Yousafzai was a talented and brave young woman who had one goal in life: to get an education and encourage others to do the same. Born in Pakistan, Malala did not grow up with many resources, but she was lucky enough to have a father that shared the same goal as her. At the young age of fifteen, she was shot in the face by the Taliban for standing up for girls’ rights to an education. Although the recovery time was long and hard, the Taliban did not silence her as she continued her campaign. This eventually led her to opening her own school in Yemen and writing the novel I Am Malala. As someone who highly values education and bravery, her story made me interested in learning more about her culture, family, and experiences.
Malala Yousafzai speaks out after she was shot by the Taliban on the left side of her head for attending school. She then decided to recount the event and write a speech which she presented to the United Nations. Her speech was intended to bring awareness to people that education should be available to males and females.
Why? Because she was not only a 15-year-old girl; she was also a crusader for girls’ right to go to school. This work had made her famous throughout Pakistan and around the world. It had also made her a target of the Taliban.” (6) This is also a challenge because Malala would be risking a lot of things by standing up to the Taliban and going to school. She would be risking the death or torture of herself and her family. The article stated, “The bullet severely damaged her hearing and fractured her skull, causing her brain to swell dangerously. Fortunately, the physicians in Birmingham were able to control the swelling. Over the past months, she has undergone several operations to repair her skull and improve her hearing.” (9) The last challenge is a big challenge for Malala because she will have to go through many surgeries to fix the damage from the bullet that the gunmen shot at her. Her brain and hearing might never get back to normal or how they were before the bullet hit her.
The article , “Malala the Powerful”, By Kristin Lewis, describes a girl who got hurt for what she stood up to in the world, so her and other went through lots of courage and challenges. That are still happening in this world today. But a lot of what she and others went through is still going on today in Taliban. Malala was a girl who fought for others girls to be in school that affect the world because if the taliban knew the would kill them or hurt them are something like that. when the Taliban came around and stroll the streets she still went to school, but she hid herself and the other children as well. As she was getting on a bus one, day two men walked up and asked for Malala and she got up they shot her. She recovered,
The article, “Malala the Powerful” by Kristin Lewis, describes the roughness of Malala, a Jewish girl, who like many girl Jews, crumbled in the hands of Taliban. Malala was alive when the Taliban took over Pakistan. She and many other girl jews were kicked out of school and forced to follow all these stitched rules. In 2009, Malala took action and started a blog. She talked on T.V shows about how hard life was like and was standing up to the Taliban. In 2010, the Taliban shot Malala in the face but she and many other Jews still survived. Though she lived in rough and tough challenges, Malala show lots of courage trying to stand up to the Taliban and their powerful government.
Throughout the span of the human race, many people and organization have stood up for the right of others. Some scientists raced against time to produce vaccines that saved millions if not billions of lives. On the other hand, many speakers traveled across the globe to promote individual’s freedom and rights. In wartime, more people regardless of their backgrounds worked tirelessly to save lives of many individuals who faced genocide. Undoubtedly, history has foretold that at any moment in time, people are working tremendously so that other people may have a better world to live. Regarding education, Malala Yousafzai, known as Malala, has put all her efforts in promoting education to every child living on earth. She was a target of an insurgent group, but now she is the savior of many children. Thanks to her works, many children now have an education which they have never once dreamed they would have. Her moral courage will be a legacy that she leaves for humans.
Malala had many hardships along the way of her crusade here are some challenges. First, “the Taliban began seizing control of Swat. When Pakistan army tried to stop them, the Taliban responded with tremendous violence. They blew up government buildings and murdered police officers.”(9). This is a challenge because the Taliban was taking control and they were making all the girls not be able to go to school and they were making unfair laws. More, they were killing police officers and blowing up buildings. Also, “In 2010, notes began appearing under Malala’s door, ordering her to give up her crusade or else. But she refused to back down, and on October 9, 2012 Taliban gunmen shot her and two others on the school bus.”(8) The text also said, “‘Who is Malala’ one of the men demanded.A feeling of terror filled the bus. And then the unthinkable happened: the gunmen opened fire. One bullet
First, I want to talk about what Malala and her organization have accomplished so far. Malala mostly focuses her efforts towards raising money for girls education. She raises money from other non profit organizations, and she also has a website for people to donate to. She takes the money she raises and either builds schools or buys the kids supplies. Malala has raised over seven million dollars for women’s education in third world
Elijah is a mysterious character, he comes from nowhere “Tishbe in Gilead,” (1 Kings 17:1) which is to say, he comes from the fringe of Israel and doesn’t have any authority to speak in the manner he does, except he claims that it is the Lord guiding him. I think Elijah is a character who has strong beliefs and is bold enough to speak them. Right before Elijah’s introduction, we see child sacrifice for the sake of building Jerico (chapter 16). This activity is definitely something that YHWH is opposed to, the story of Abraham and Isaac should have at least taught that. However, the King Ahab continues to go after other gods, specifically Baal (1
I have decided to write my Old Testament essay on the mysterious prophet Elijah. According to the bible, in the book of Kings, Elijah was not only a devoted prophet of God, but he also served as a worker who lived in the northern kingdom of Israel, under King Ahab’s reign. Elijah is remembered for his remarkable faith and devotion to God. In writing this essay, I will tell the story of one the many adventures that occurred in Elijah 's lifetime. Of course, there are so many alterations and rewritten versions of the bible, that I have no idea what to believe. No one truly knows what happened, for everyone who could have, died long ago. Either way, all the different versions of the story seem to have the same basic outcome. In telling you this, I will try to incorporate the information that is mentioned throughout the book, “The Old Testament Story, Ninth Edition” (by John H. Tullock and Mark McEntire) and some of what I have been taught myself over my twenty-eight years of life.
