Dear Residency Program Director,
It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter of recommendation for Ingrid Chern (AAMC ID: 14297319) in support of her application to your residency program. I am an associate professor at Kaohsiung Medical University’s School of Medicine and the Director of the Department of Pathology at Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital. I have taught several of Ingrid’s biological science classes throughout various organ system blocks and have also served as her advisor throughout medical school. She stands out among her peers and is one of the best students with whom I’ve worked with.
Our medical school curriculum includes problem-based learning (PBL) tutorials, in which students are divided into small groups and presented with a clinical case. They are expected to identify key points in the clinical scenario, generate hypotheses, create a problem list, and develop their own learning topics based on their problem list and differential diagnoses. I was the PBL tutor for several of Ingrid’s tutorials. Always meticulously prepared, her enthusiasm about learning and her focus made her a very positive influence on her peers. Aside from her active participation in the

Ingrid is a fiery, passionate student and an impressive hard worker. She is curious, diligent, and highly motivated and has a keen intellect coupled with intense self-discipline. Ingrid’s clerkship and internship preceptors have also praised her willingness to continually challenge herself and that her strong desire to learn is matched by her great work ethic. They have also commended her critical thinking, demonstration of clinical knowledge, ability to implement what she has learned clinically, and initiative to ask questions, find answers, and solve
As I have moved toward the path of a career in Internal Medicine, there have been certain educational events which served as catalyst to my career. My first clerkship in Internal Medicine Outpatient in a rural and underserved area of Tennessee, I met Dr. Candi Overholt. She was an extraordinary mentor as I watched her daily manage each patient’s numerous comorbidities and yet she also showed sincere interest in each patient’s emotional and personal life.
The medical field is a career path that brings about many options and opportunities of great value. The noble idea of being a doctor tends to cloud the diligent studying and precise training that is actually required for this career. I have wanted to become a doctor since a very young age, and now that the opportunity is here for the taking, I have fully researched what it takes to succeed in this profession and various specialties of the practice. The road to a medical degree is one filled with thousands of notes, years of schooling, and many stressful nights, but the reward is one incomparable to any other. Saving people’s lives on a day-to-day basis has been one of my dreams for as long as I can remember, so the rigorous curriculum
Hello, I hope all is well at the clinic. This is Alexus Harris, I volunteered during the past summer at the clinic. I am emailing to ask if you could write me a letter of recommendation. I am applying to be an Resident Advisor(RA) at UVa next year. I really think I would be a great RA! I can help the student transition to college and be the extra support for the students. Also, unlike many people at UVa, I promote diversity of race, cultures, and religions. I would create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for my hall, if I were to be accepted as an RA. Also, I conduct myself well in college and do well in class, therefore, I would be a great role model to the first year students. The recommendation form is somewhat short. It has like 15
Elaine is articulate, well‐read, and able to utilize her knowledge effectively in the clinical setting. Yet, she consistently exhibits curiosity, and motivation to learn. Elaine had made quite a strong impression as she was able to recommend a patient over the counter medicine under my supervision.
I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation to give my highest recommendation for Richard Nguyen for the position of a Research Associate at Hennepin County Medical Center. As the leader of our Organization, the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS), I have had the privilege of working with Richard for over a year now. The aim of MAPS is to support the needs of scholars from underrepresented communities and prepare them for challenging careers within medicine. Richard has demonstrated exceptional leadership within the organization, and continues to amaze me with his accomplishments.
During my internship, I had a patient newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He and his family came from a rural area and did not have enough knowledge about the disease. Seeing that, I took the time to educate them about his condition and the details of his care.A year later I received a phone call from this patient’s family thanking me for what I did, and consulting me for a minor illness that he encountered at that time. Although they knew I was a junior doctor, they have valued my opinion. I felt appreciated and exhilarated to experience such a satisfying moment. Learning medicine in Sudan was challenging, being in a country with a culturally diverse population and limited resources doctors are confronted countless times by the lack of diagnostics, medications and even hospital beds. Therefore, patient care necessitates sharp physicians who rely on their fierce clinical sense. Throughout the years I realized how important it is for a physician to build such a firm clinical background. It is stunning how minor changes in clinical signs and symptoms could lead to different interpretations from one patient to another. Every case was challenging and mysterious, nonetheless I incredibly enjoyed the intellectual stimuli and the excitement of solving clinical puzzles and interacting with patients. Additionally, I believe I have an inquisitive nature, and I resolved to take on the intellectual challenges offered. This along with my intense passion will guide me to
Alhashim has very wisely utilized her time after graduation to gain exposure to the medical field, and have deemed to be prepared for the rigors of medical school based on her experience as a medical scribe and outstanding achievements during her undergraduate studies. Dhoha graduated as magna cum laude from Bowie State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Chemistry, demonstrating her thorough understanding of the sciences. I am certain that Ms. Alhashim will be a great asset to your incoming class. To conclude, I would like to restate my strong recommendation for Dhoha Alhashim, as detailed above and based on my experience working with her, I can without any hesitations recommend Dhoha Alhashim into your incoming
I participated in numerous and varied electives to gain a wide appreciation for the scope and practice of medicine. I learned countless lessons from physicians, nurses, midlevel providers and ancillary staff, while caring for hundreds of patients gaining a level of autonomy. The importance of a focused history and physical – to not be afraid of the myriad of details and at the same time to not loose sight of the bigger picture – how to present cases, and how to formulate a high-quality differential diagnosis with appropriate testing measures were all emphasized. These experiences showed me that being an effective Internist involves not only the treatment of those severely ill, but also the need for comprehensive treatment of the patient and their families. I was genuinely inspired to be a part of the IM team and my goal of becoming an Internist was
While at USJ, Sabrina presented with diligent work habits and made valuable contributions to the classroom discussion. She is an effective writer and integrated research into her practice. Sabrina was able to critically think about cases and apply theoretical models leading to a thoughtful
I have learned from my experience that there is no better place in this world other than this country to learn about new cases or to do a research project or to avail the best treatments to my patients. With the latest technologies and rare cases found here, I wish to pursue my career as an internist in the United States.I have many attributes to contribute to Internal Medicine. My family has taught me the values of hardwork, honesty, dedication and commitment to goals.I am a critical thinker and problem solver and I will deliver all these to my residency program. Each patient is a educator for me and this teaching attracts me to academics and I look forward to being part of an institution that provides a healthy learning environment based on open
I am writing this letter to you today to express my interest in your residency program. Currently a fourth year pharmacy student at Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy, I am writing this letter to declare my interest specifically in the PGY1 residency program with your university. Having researched your program, as well as speaking with Dr. ____ and several current residents, as well as meeting with you at the ASHP mid-year residency showcase, I have found myself extremely impressed by the excellent opportunities that I could achieve through the execution of this program.
I aspire to perform Nobel Peace Prize winning research while providing compassionate care to my patients. Having both a researcher’s and a physician’s perspectives, I am motivated to bridge the gap between science and medicine by educating patients about their condition and treatment options in appropriate detail. As Albert Einstein said, “[I]f you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.” Being trained as a leader of both science and medicine at UCSF, my understanding will allow me to teach any patient and provide their right to educated healthcare decisions. With my balance of clinical work and research currently, I am excited to go to work every day since each day brings a new learning experience. Attending UCSF would transform my dream into my reality and keep this excitement in my life as I progress as a leader of academic

I am learning about the significance of being committed to patient care and dedicating your life's work to the betterment of every patient. I possess a strong academic history as well as a willingness to commit my time to uplifting of my community. Even as a student who has had some hiccups academically, I am proving that I can overcome adversity and "keep my eyes on prize". Furthermore, I am devoted to being the future of physical therapy and displaying selflessness, dedication, compassion, distinction and authenticity. I have learned to sympathize and empathize with patients, however, at the same time stand firm in the therapeutic methods that need to be implemented for the patient's
I appreciate your thoughtful post. I agree that the unknown of the residency experience created anxiety. We are both similar in that we like to know what to expect and how to prepare for it (our lists). However, you exhibited confidence and it continued to grow throughout the residency experience. As you found out, I also found out that the residency instilled more confidence as well as self-awareness. Practicing role plays, as you suggested, is a great way to become more confident in your counseling skills and prepare for your track two experience. Another possible activity could be to practice specific skills in real life situations that you encounter. I enjoyed working with you in Chicago and look forward to working with you during
