While standing in the kitchen the Learning Room can be seen. This area has a child size table and chairs in the center of the room. The child size table is where the children do their eating and messy art projects. The setup is quite normal as any other house: stove, oven, sink, and microwave. There was an extra refrigerator, posted on it was a monthly menu. The far wall holds the parent information bulletin board. Next to the board is Ms. Avery’s certificates and degrees. Right underneath is a table the has the children sign in/out sheets. Ms. Avery started her family home daycare, because after retirement her desired was to continue work with young children. “Children learn through play” is a highly regarded truth in the Early Child Education field. Children learn through exploration. Ms. Avery’s Learning Room is where it all this exploring takes place. She has organized this room in creative ways to maximize space. This room was added on to the house when she decided to open her daycare. Thick, colorful. interlocking square foam pads cover the floor. They are easy to clean, comfortable to play on, and soft for a kid fall. Along the far wall, next to a bay window stand a big kid level toy unit covering the entire wall. The toy unit is space consuming; however, it holds many toys of assorted sizes. Also, the different size bins allow the kids to clean up with ease. The bins can be slid out and moved around the room for
Daycare has become a controversy because of the great quantity of advantages and disadvantages that it involves. While a very large number of parents have to rely on child care centers because of career ambitions or financial needs that only their jobs can fulfill, most child psychiatrists believe that the ideal growing environment for an infant is at home with the family. The problem is that choosing the right caregiver, a good substitute for the parents, is very hard, and the consequences of a wrong decision can be very detrimental to the child’s personality development. This choice depends on many factors like culture, education and especially income. In fact, the financial availability plays the most

The Kaiser Child Care Centers were established during the World War II by the Kaiser company for their female workers and were operated 24 hours a day. The Kaiser Company built these facilities in the shipyards so that the working mothers wouldn’t have to worry about the safety of their children and would be motivated to work more. Not only did these centers provide care for the children, they also provided the children with medical attention, and hot meals. We currently have centers like these now. Most centers now a days take care of children day-to-day so their parents can go to work and sustain their families without having to worry about their safety and well-being. These centers left an enormous legacy and demonstration of quality child
I am currently an owner/ director of a childcare center. God’s Individuals (Gigi’s) Clubhouse is the name of the childcare. The childcare operated out of my home. Running a childcare center consist of making decision as a manger and a leader. The childcare consists of 27 children as of now. We are always looking for children who are in need of a homely childcare environment. Gigi’ clubhouse came about some years ago due to the fact so; many children were getting hurt in a childcare center environment. So, as an early childhood educator I decided to make the childcare center like little cottages and use the Montessori method and

There is not a single place on this Earth that someone can take me that will make me feel at ease no matter how hard that person tries. The only thing that can truly make someplace home and make me feel at ease is a place with friends, family, and a place to perform.
Along with knowing the purpose of quality daycare/child care facilities, the next important factor is to be aware of what generates a high quality daycare/child care facility. It is vital to know the characteristics because these prime objectives are the driving forces influenced by what children need in order to succeed and grow in their developmental skills. Fundamentally, “High quality [preschool] education can support early development in ways that yield long term social, cognitive and emotional benefits” (Barnett 2005, p1). The most essential aspect of a high quality facility are the trained, certified and attentive teachers hired to support children’s developmental needs. They ensure this by respectful interaction,
For the children’s learning to be successful, parent involvement is critical. An orientation will occur prior to the children attending. Parents will be updated with the day care policies, the lay out of the day care, the expectations and the introduction of their child care provider. This is done to allow both the parent and child care provider to get to know each other and allows them both the opportunity to discuss the care the child will need. It is very important for communication between the parent and the day care staff to be consistent. Parent involvement can provide feedback to the parent in regards to what the children are learning daily. This helps with their child’s assessment of the program to
Childcare is the starting point in your children 's lives. The choices you make on childcare can affect them greatly. It is when they will begin to meet the friends that they will grow up with as they go through grade school. Children need this step in their lives to adjust from staying at home, to staying with other children in a completely different surrounding. There are so many different options for childcare now a days, it is extremely hard to say which is the most beneficial for children. In this paper I will discuss the childcare decisions that my mother made for me, what to consider when evaluating childcare, and compare them to some of my references and see how they are similar and also how they differ.
Very informative pamphlet! I think you made a great choice when you listed the four things a parent should for when looking for a child care. As a mom with a boy who will soon enter kindergarten, I have found my self feeling a little anxious about it. It is hard knowing that my son will be out of my sight for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. I think that including things for parents to look for will allow parents to really feel comfortable when deciding what day care to leave their children at. One thing that you could have added to your pamphlet would be on how the child might react at first, and then what the parents as well as the teachers can do to help the child with the change.Very informative pamphlet! I think you made a great choice when
The field work that I have done was at the Foundation daycare between 9am and 10:30 am. The daycare is next to the Shaar Hashomayim on Metcalfe and Kensington Avenue in Westmount. When I first went to the school I went through the courtyard which had cemented pillars and archways as well as a row of plastic play houses of a variety of colours and sizes. The doors are all locked therefore I had to wring the Foundation school doorbell. The school has 2 stories; the first story is where the daycare is and the second floor is where the elementary school is located. There are 6 classrooms and each classroom has a specific age group. While walking to the classroom, there are rows of cubbies and hooks along the walls with children’s names above them.
