The human condition is a broad topic which involves many traits such as aspirations, growth and conflict. We need different forms of media so that we can see all aspects of the world that we are living in. We use these types of media to get a better understanding about our lives and how we choose to live it.
Three pieces that show us a lot about these traits are College Should be an Adventure, Puzzle Boy, and Peanuts.

In college, we will face many risks and it will be our choice whether we take those risks or not. We can choose what we want to do in college and no one will make these decisions for us any longer. We have to prepare ourselves for these choices.
The text also says, College will bring regular challenge and occasional disappointment. This will help us understand that we must have aspirations in order to overcome these challenges and disappointments. We all are about to head off to college and face similar challenges. New place, new people, more mature. Things will be difficult and we need hope that we can overcome all of our new obstacles.

The last piece is a piece called Construint by Efrai.
This piece shows a little boy made out of blocks in a black and white room taking colored pieces of blocks and building himself the way he wants to be built. This piece shows us that no one is perfect and no one can build a perfect life but you are in charge of building the life you want. His tower was leaning and built in different directions, showing us that life is never a straight path.
This piece kind of shows us how the world around us may be plain and we are the ones who decide if we color our world or just go along with everything else. The blocks we build ourselves with often hold a meaning behind them such as our aspirations and goals. We grow as people by the amount of blocks we use and what they each represent. Literature work always has some lesson for the people that could even leave a thought-provoking effect on their lives and compel them to understand the reality of the world. However, there are some people, who just read literature as a source of entertainment, but the real meaning, of the reading or encountering any literature work, is realized when a reader understands a message. Which writer intends to give to a reader. It is because the literature work has a connection, in addition, influence on the character building process.
Throughout the essay, Charles Murray stresses the idea that college is the wonderland of finding oneself and to find the career that one would want to follow for the rest of their lives. “College is seen as the open sesame to a good job and a desirable way for adolescents to transition to adulthood. Neither reason is as persuasive as it first appears.” Murray, C (2008) Practically spoken, this is not normally the case. College is a fair amount of work, much more work than one would normally acquire through any course of a high school or secondary school setting. In no way saying that the average student cannot meet the requirement and achieve success over the amounted work, it would also be ridiculous to expect every graduate to pursue going into higher education with the expansion of work that will be given.

Coming to college as an adult, we have many expectations and preconceptions of what college will or will not be. The expectations we have can influence our college life for the better or the worse. My experience since starting college has been an interesting one. People have misconceptions about college because they do not know what to expect. After doing some research, I have concluded that there are three major factors that are often misunderstood about college life. The first is the financial aspect of college. Second, is the relationship between the professors and students. Third is time management. These three factors play an important role in why people are afraid to go down the path to college.
What we get out of the college experience, we use in our day to day lives. Even the things we think aren’t important or useful end up becoming helpful. The material we learn in college is fundamental when it comes jobs and life in general. We are taught to make choices. We are taught how the real world works, and how to turn our education into our way of life. “…the really significant education in thinking that we’re supposed to get in a place like this isn’t really about the capacity to think, but rather about the choice of what to think about.” (Wallace 199).
College is an opportunity to truly discover who you are. Often enough, you hear people saying “You should really major in this field, I think you would really enjoy this career.” or, “Do you think you really want to study that? Have you thought about what you will be doing ten years from now?” filling your mind with self doubt, uncertainty, and the anxiousness of not knowing what you want to do with the rest of your life. Mark Edmundson wrote an article titled, Who Are You and What Are You Doing Here?, published in Oxford American addressing college students and their families how the most important thing college students should focus on is personal growth. When students take their courses seriously their engagement can help finding out who they really are and which future career will lead not necessarily to great financial success, but to a career and life that is very satisfying. Edmundson wants to inspire his audience and have them take what he is saying seriously. Edmundson uses satirical informal language and hypothetical situations to effectively persuade college students to focus on their personal growth in order to create a life and career that is deeply fulfilling.
Blueprints a plan that makes a building strong, In all the stories “We Beat the Street”, “The Road Not Taken” and, “Jim Henson Cartoon” all of them built up from rock bottom to top. The Doctors who grew up in the neighborhoods of Newark, The Roads not taken, Different paths that lead to full lives, and A young man who realized that he will make his own path, his own destiny. If you don’t like your destiny, don’t accept it, have the courage to change it. A person grows up when they are able to overcome hardships. Protection is important but there are some things that a person must overcome on their own. No matter how different the texts are, Bonds, People, Values all aspects that they have in common with each other. People and Characters change but some things never change, Bonds are more than just blood, it's friendship, love, accepting differences.
Furthermore, the illustrations paint a beautiful picture that I like to think is an insight into a child’s mind, which I is a key element in this book and what makes it so great. Since the book is narrated by a child the intentional simplicity of the words and the controlled chaos that is the illustrations breathes unadulterated life into a rather normal children’s book.
Gary Colombo, Robert Cullen, and Bonnie Lisle in their book “Rereading America” feel that commencing college is a very disturbing experience. So many things we have to deal while starting college, but the major challenges are expanded difficulty levels and higher expectation which we are not familiar over the years of high school. In order to solve this issue, we have to remodel ourselves by taking up the challenge and rethink about our strength and flaws. To succeed in college we need to be mentally strong and dedicated towards our goal.
College is a chance to be free and is a bridge between the real world and school. I’m an adult and expected to behave as such; I make my own choices where I have to decide what is important to me. I have an opportunity to learn how the world works, to explore the limitless possibilities and a chance to admire how vast knowledge can be. College will change my life in the way that I can develop life skills outside academics, to be fully
The author was inspired to write this essay because he experienced college the same way all freshmen will experience college. He went through the same exact struggles that they are bound to go through at some point in it, so he was motivated to help them survive school and stick with it no matter how tough it gets. He consistently emphasizes how magnificent the rewards are if one finishes all of college.
Specifics regarding the topic: In my high school today myself along with other high school students overcome obstacles we could have never thought of our freshman year. At the beginning of our college prep four class, students learn that “college should be an adventure” as dr. rouch states in his article to incoming freshman.
The word college means different things to different people. For parents it might mean freedom from their pesky teenagers or sleepless nights full of worry. For students it might mean new experiences, independence, or learning about themselves and their passions. For society it might mean carrying on a legacy or doing one’s duty as a good citizen. It is neither society's place nor the parent’s choice to decide what a young adult does with his or her life.
It is the dream of everyone to join college with the hope of getting a better tomorrow and a foundation for them to make it in life. However, this may not be the case with some students as this dream may turn into a nightmare. This is because many students fail to go through or others even fail simply because they have not prepared enough; not just academically but also on the personal side.
The artwork, “Number 10,” by Mark Rothko displays two rectangles (top, yellow and the bottom, white) with a baby blue background color. Seeing the painting for the first time was surprising since I didn’t understand how it correlated with the title. It was easy to look at, but it didn’t catch my attention right away! I felt confused and frustrated while observing the piece because I didn’t know how I was going to find the meaning that lay behind the painting. This reminded me of my first-born nephew; I had such a difficult time trying to understand why he would cry so much. However, I was aware that crying was his way of communicating how he felt, just like painting this abstract piece was Rothko's style of communication.
