The Lincoln and Douglas debate was in important because it started Lincoln presidential career. The Debates lasted from August 21 -- October 15. There where seven of them, with two days to two weeks in between. In this essay, I will compare and contrast the recent top two candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as it relates to the presidential election, along with my opinion and views regarding what recently took place as of November 8th, 2016. It’s no secret that this election has been the craziest thus far. Not only for the first time has a female candidate made it this far in an election, but we also got to witness the shenanigans that took place leading up to the election, majority of which came from our very own, Donald Trump.

A constructive national debate is something that is quite important to the functioning of the American system of democracy. A simple definition of democracy offered by the Merriam-Webster dictionary is that democracy is “a form of government in which people choose leaders by voting” (Merriam-Webster). Now, at a time of heightened awareness from many American people, the political debates in this country don’t seem to be providing them with good cogent arguments. Instead they are filled with fallacies and many falsehoods. In this essay I argue that the presidential debate system is currently not living up to its potential, and I will focus specifically on Republican primary debate that took place at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California. In doing so, I will argue that the main flaws in this cycle’s presidential primary debates were the amount of fallacies used, as structure used as well as provide some counter-arguments to my claims.

American presidential election of 2016 was a few weeks ago, many are scratching their heads following the outcome result. Many, including myself are, asking the question who voted to bring Trump into office? No the better question is who did not vote to keep Trump out of the office. This must have been the same feelings and questions people had in the election of 1968 with Nixon, as the options they were left with to choose was not one of which many were enthused about. In both of their of biographies, Nixon attended Duke University and earned a degree in law but Trump attended Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania, and graduated with a degree in economics. The 2016 presidential election seemed to be a particularly hectic election. On November 8,2016, I was checking my Facebook newsfeed. As I scrolled through my newsfeed, I see a lot of posts related to the election. People would post opinions on each of the presidential candidates as well as which their predictions of which candidate will win. The newspaper websites provided frequent updates throughout the day to inform people about the progress of the election. That night, I watched tentatively as the ballots were being counted, and I saw people’s comments of shock and disbelief when Trump managed to get ahead of Hillary in terms of electoral college votes.

This paper will focus on some issues addressed by 2016 presidential candidates from Republic and Democratic Party. These presidential candidates are Hillary Clinton, Ben Carson, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trumps. Some of the issues that will be addressed are gun laws, abortion, immigration, same sex marriages and taxes.

The political infrastructure of America has remained consistent with the ideology of a representative republic, essentially the masses choosing representatives who then decide whom they want as a leader of the fine country under the notion of said candidates ideologies, religion, and promises upon election. Every four years, America holds an election to determine the Commander in Chief, an honor of prestige and status. The duty of a President is to obey the best interests of the country, utilizing their power in order to handle the issues that plague the nation. Planetary issues such as gay marriage, immigration, and marijuana particularly, same-sex marriage, the construction of a wall near the southern border, and medical marijuana.This essay aims to display the arguments/stance that each presidential candidate has towards such issues, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, and serves as an analysis of their determined stance.

The second presidential debate was held at St. Louis, Missouri on a Sunday Evening, October 9th, 2016 at 9:00PM. The debate lasted until 10:30PM. The debate involved presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Just like the First Presidential Debate, this debate mainly focused on the candidates and their plans for the future. That night, there was a lot of opposition in opinion on both sides. It was a heated battle. Both Trump and Clinton battled it out with facts, some of which were both very strong and very weak.

Topics such as terrorism and national security; the economy; jobs and employment; and the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare all managed to be the center of attention during all debates. What topics were almost entirely ignored? Topics such as gun policy; social issues like LGBT rights and abortion; and the environment and climate change were put to the side to instead talk about Hillary Clinton’s email scandal or the sexual assault charges brought up against Donald Trump. While terrorism and national security; the economy; jobs and employment; and the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare are all very important topics, but one topic that was ignored and should have been at the forefront of the debate was climate change.

Al Gore and Governor George W. Bush are running for the Presidency. The two candidates are in Presidential Debate to allow the voters to get an understanding of where they each stand on certain positions and policies. Bush and Gore have some similarities and differences on certain positions and policies discussed in the Presidential Debates.

Did you know that every president that america had so far came from the united states? In all the years that the Presidential debate has be going on more and more people from different countries and since then won or lost. Would you want to have a president from a different country? I would want a president from a different country. I think that it would be better if we had the chance to expand our presidential line. People from all around the world would like the chance to have the experience of becoming the United States President.

It was a great experience to watch vice presidential debates as it was different from presidential debates. Also, was engaging to see what will be different from presidents to vice presidents. As I watched vice president debates after third presidential debate, I can say that topics were same. They were discussing topics about immigration, Syria, Russia, economy and education. I did not like that vice presidents interrupted each other a lot of times, but overall, it was a very cognitive and open debate.
