Date: 24/11/16 Concisely explain what you learned in the previous session(s). Analyse and explain how you will integrate this in today’s session. In the previous session, I had done a major scene management workshop, in this workshop I had observed a crime scene, taken notes and sketches and also done a forensic strategy. The strategy focused on what evidence I would collect, why I would collect it and in what order, and finally if any experts would be needed. This will help in today’s session in terms of planning a forensic strategy and aiding in terms of what to do with any potential evidence found and if any experts maybe needed. Feedback I received today was: To consider any problems that may occur when requesting an expert to the
It is imperative that an agency has an evidence collection unit that processes all crime scenes for many of reasons. Securing the scene, separating the witnesses, scanning the scene, seeing the scene, sketching the scene, searching for evidence, and securing and collecting evidence are the seven S’s of crime scene investigations in which an evidence collection unit is in charge of last three (ECU, 2017). The biggest advantage to having an evidence collection unit is that highly trained and certified personnel are the ones who are systematically and properly sketching the scene, searching for evidence, and securing and collecting evidence. Another advantage of having an evidence collection unit is that they have all the proper tools and supplies
Based on the information in the text sheet and in your assigned reading for this week, discuss the following scenarios and determine which type of forensic analysis technique(s) should be used, and why:
The book gives a general overview of the field of forensic science. The sections of the book include “The Scene of the Crime; Working the Scene--The Evidence; Working the Scene of the Body Human;
The world used to be a place filled with questions and answers that could not be found. As the years have gone by, evidence at a crime scene has become progressively more understood and the world is now a place filled with questions that there are answers to. To get where detectives are today, it took years of experiments, building and knowledge of technology that expanded the mind to places that are hard to believe. Technology is the basis of what it takes to find the vastest amount of information that evidence can provide. It can hold, prove and find information that in past years, could not. Due to the advances in technology, specifically through DNA, fingerprinting and lighting systems, crime scene evidence collection has grown tremendously.
Before the reporting of the actual work done can start, it is important to include a section with the terms of reference. This explains the technical terms that is not generally known and any acronyms it might appear in the report. This is important for any readers that are not familiar with forensic terminology.Next a short background to the investigation must be given for the benefit other readers who are not familiar with the case the case.After the background is given, a section on the mandate must be included. This needs to explain who requested and authorized the investigation.It is also important define the scope of the investigation clearly, so that it is clear that the investigation did not venture outside of the legally authorized scope.The evidence must be clearly identified, inclusive of serial numbers and any other identification that can be used to confirm that it is the same as the evidence that was acquired. Where used, the hash codes for the evidence items should also be included to show
From fictional shows like CSI Miami to real life crime scenes, we have all seen the process it takes to gather forensic evidence. If you haven’t, research has been recently gathered to come up with new and innovative ways to catch a criminal. Whether it be from derelict fields, dark alley ways, or deep sea oceans, many environments can leave behind physical evidence ofn a criminal and victims that crime scene investigators both real and fictional can use to identify and catch the culprit. However, this can be difficult when trying to find the best pieces of evidence to use and detect after analyzing and putting criminal information together.

As the lead forensic investigator for XYZ, Inc. my goal is to prepare before the investigation starts, this involves knowing the nature of the assignment and activities, prepare the tools and personnel needed to properly investigate the incident. Additionally, understanding the skill-sets required to extract digital evidence will help build the appropriate team, assign roles to staff and supervisor, and ensure the forensic investigators have appropriate background to perform the extractions needed.
Forensic science plays a huge part in our criminal justice system today. But where did it get its start? What procedures are utilized today to help investigators solve our everyday mysteries when it comes to crimes? In addition, what forensic aspects in the video “Welcome to Homicide” were used to finally get a confession of murder? This paper will discuss these topics and elaborate on some of the key evidence that was used to close this particular case.
The purpose of this project is to provide the reader of this paper with a descriptive analysis of an episode of Crime Scene Investigations (C.S.I.). The intent is to show what is provided by the television series of what happens in a crime and what is supposed to happen during a crime scene investigation. The reader should be able to understand during this analysis to what in fact is non-realistic in this television episode and what is reality as determined by what has been researched. This will show what really happens in a crime scene investigations lab.
For week four and five, I will conduct a presentation of these two cases. This presentation will be about my opinion on how important forensic science is in crime cases. To not make my project bias, the case of D.B Cooper will come in play. This presentation is essentially describing the benefits of forensic science. I will also another case where forensic science helped ease the case. I will also plan to show a statistical graph how the crimes committed before and after the advancement of forensic science. It is important to understand the importance of forensic science and should pay attention to how it works. I will also review it with my mentor to check any grammar mistakes and fix mistakes
Since most investigations start with very limited information, care and common sense are necessary to minimize the chances of destroying evidence. A plan of operation is developed and initiated from an initial walk through of the scene. The plan is to decide what evidence may be present, what evidence may be fragile and need to be collected as soon as possible. What resources, equipment, and assistance are necessary for the processing? Consideration of hazards or safety conditions may need to be addressed.
Within this piece I will discuss the following, definitions of forensic psychology with a specific role of forensic psychology, then to create a story board which will included details of the day to day tasks that practitioners would complete.
What is a crime scene? What is forensic science and how is it conducted? What factors can impact evidence and what procedures have to be taken to stop this from happening? What factors have to be taken into account when conducting forensic science and why? How will not doing this impact a court verdict? In my assignment I hope to answer these questions.
In the second part of the following essay I will be nominating one source of evidence that is present at the scene of a scenario. I will be discussing in my own words how Police should collate, handle and analyse the piece of evidence in a Criminal Investigation. In doing this I will be using relevant crime scene powers, NSWPF operational guidance and making reference to the Horswell (2004) reading.
