Cheerleading began for me at the age of twelve. In the past I had played soccer, basketball, softball, did ballet. Basically every activity my mom could possibly put me in. All of those activities were okay, but cheerleading became something that was special to me. I first began cheering in middle school for the Hazelwood West Junior Wildcats. I cheered on the team throughout middle school literally dedicating all of my free time to cheerleading. I lived, ate, and dreamed cheer. I went on to continue cheering throughout my high school career, cheering for all Hazelwood West athletics, including: soccer, football, basketball, and wrestling. I was a hardcore dedicated athlete, and I had spirit like no other. From
“I really started dreaming... and broke out of my shyness when I got to Howard University. My first acting class was an Intro to Acting class with Professor Bay, who really broke me out of my shell, encouraged me to follow my dreams and make them a reality” (Gross). I’m going to talk about how to open the door of show business into Hollywood and show you how to potentially reach success. Many talented actors don’t succeed in show business because they forget the first rule: show business is a business. So what I’m going to tell you here briefly covers the business details behind the world of film, television, and theatre. In order to better understand your role in the larger scheme of show business, you need to understand the wants and needs of the wealthiest people in the industry. The business of acting is simple. You help others make money, and they’ll help you make money. But first, you need to figure out how show business really works.
As my ninth-grade English teacher, Mrs. Newton would say, without a good hook to start your essay, no one will ever read it. As I was taught, a hook is a crucial part in your essay because it will help grab the audience’s attention so that they will continue to be invested throughout the paper. For example, the hook could be a question or a quote about the overall topic of your essay. In my junior year, we had to do a controversial essay and I used a quote from a famous tattoo artist as my hook because I did my essay over tattoos and piercings. After the hook, the introduction begins to take form and show the audience what your essay is about. The introduction is the first thing in your essay that will tell the audience what the essay is about. The introduction paragraph should be as interesting as the initial hook and keep the audience invested in the paper. It will establish the basis of the essay and should contain the thesis statement. The thesis statement is the point in your essay where you will state the topics that the essay will contain. In high school, we were taught that the thesis should contain the three points that you will elaborate upon in your three body paragraphs: the weakest point, the middle point, and the strongest point.
How we are viewed to the outside world plays a part in who we we are as individuals, it becomes apart of our identity. No matter how much we try to deny it, how others view us impact how we view ourselves. To the outside world I am just viewed as a Caucasian female, but in reality I am a Mexican American. Throughout the years I have just started to identify as being Caucasian because that is just what everyone assumes, now my case is mild. It has not deeply affected who I am as a person, but for other people they are not so lucky. Being in America we are shoved in stereotypes, there is no uniqueness you are viewed as either ‘good white folk’, hoodlums, or immigrants. Now imagine being viewed as the latter, your ‘race’ forces you into the tight space of discrimination. You are now identified as being a hoodlum, that always seems to
In 2012 youth ages 15-24 were more than twice as likely to be laid of compared to those older than 25. The monthly layoff rate for youth was 3.5% while the rate for workers 25-54 was 1.3%. Workers 55 plus had a rate of 1.5% (Stats Canada,2013). In todays society youth enter the workforce unprepared, uneducated and unexperienced which leads to these high rates of unemployment and layoffs. Schools are not teaching the valuable lessons and skills youth need to enter the workforce with an advantage not a disadvantage. Although the schools are responsible for teaching the kids it is in fact the government who is responsible for offering more programs and proper programs to schools. By offering more programs designed to educate, prepare and
Based on the previous review of literature, the researcher will use a pretest-posttest exploratory experimental design. The researcher conducted that the research question will provide dementia caregivers with information on the side effects of being a caregiver will better their understanding of being a caregiver. The researcher hypothesized that proving the dementia caregivers with information on being a caregiver will improve their understanding of being a caregiver. For this hypothesis, the dependent variable in this study will be understanding the side effects and the independent variable is the information on the side effect of being a caregiver. The research suggestion was approved by the Delta State University IRB committee.
I was very avid in theatre all through elementary and middle school, participating in school plays and performing monologues to my family whenever I got the chance. I continued to take part in theatre once I attended high school. I had the honor of working with amazing directors for four years. Along with theatre, I joined the Lewisville High School debate team. This allowed me to branch out to prose, poetry, dramatic and humorous interpretations. High school theatre and debate has opened my eyes to see acting for more than just the fame and glamor but the beauty in conveying a message to an audience, making them think, cry, or laugh. While acting you can be anything you want to be.
Ever since day one children are told everyone is different and unique in their own way. In writing one can learn every single writer has their own style just like humans not one is the same. Some are fantastic inspiring writers and one can see that by reading their work. Others strengths can be in other subjects such as math, and as previously stated one can see that in their work as it lacks some of the passion, creativity, and structure that great writers have.
Acting requires attainable qualifications. Persistence and stamina and a good memory is needed for getting jobs and working many hours of the day on and off stage. Chron says “actors must also be creative and imaginative to properly interpret dialog and actions” (3). Chron also says training and classes are recommended to have a better chance to obtain a role.
You must undergo a formal training on acting so that you will be able to get the "feel" of being an actor. Check out if there are groups or organizations in your community that offer this kind of workshops and training programs for new or aspiring actors.
The younger waiter has a very different perspective on life. He has a job that is just that. He goes to work, and at the end of the day cannot wait to get home. All he can think about is sleeping next to his wife. The end of his shift cannot come soon enough for him. He feels that his time is more valuable than others. He is always in a hurry. The older waiter seems to be the opposite of the younger waiter. He likes to be at work. It is where he feels at home. He likes how it is well lit, and likes to drink there. He is very laid back, and it seems that nothing bothers him. He understands that there is more to life then what is just happening in the now. He goes home at the end of the night and there is no one waiting there for him. He stays
