If you knew me, you would know that I live with my mom, dad, my older sister Taylor, and my dog Cooper. My parents both work at Penn State, my mom is the assistant field hockey coach at Penn State, and my dad is a graphic designer who designs all of the sports posters for PSU. We are all very sporty people, growing up my sister and I tried almost every sport. I have played tee ball, soccer, field hockey, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse and track. Although I may have tried multiple sports, I only stuck with two, basketball and field hockey. I love playing both, but if I had to chose, field hockey would be my favorite. Since my mom is a field hockey coach, I grew up watching and playing it, when Taylor and I were younger, we went to every game no matter how far away they were. I play for the school's field hockey team in the fall, basketball team in the winter, and then I play club field hockey in the spring. On the school field hockey team I have played and started varsity both my freshman and sophomore years. In the club season I play for Blue Lions and I have played with the Alley Cats in the festival, a huge recruiting tournament that I have gone to twice, once in Palm Springs, California and the other time in Palm Beach, Florida. …show more content…
We have traveled many places for field hockey to go to all of Penn State's games. We have also gone to Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria with the PSU field hockey team when I was in fifth grade because it was there foreign trip that happens every four years. However, last year they went to Holland and my mom went without us which was very upsetting. We also go to the beach three times a summer, once to Outer Banks with my mom’s family, then twice to Long Beach Island with my dad’s side of the family because they own a beach house down
I began when I was 4, but did not start playing competitively until I was 10. As the years went on, I became a distinguished athlete. I started to travel across the United States for softball, and even had the opportunity to play on the number one team in northern California.
From the age of three, my life was nothing but Hockey. With a father who was a hockey player and a brother 3 years older already playing hockey, it was clear which sport I was going to get into. Once I started walking, my parents put me on the ice to learn the game of hockey. I instantly fell in love and I have continued playing to this day. Once it came time to play high school hockey, it all got serious. I was a freshman on the varsity team with my brother, who was a senior at the time. This was nothing but an emotional year for me, it was my first year in high school and my last year to play on a team with my brother. Once my brother graduated, he decided to go onto Juniors hockey, which is what I would do once I graduated. By the time I graduated high school, my brother would exceed the age limit for juniors hockey, so
Hockey is a sport thats origins may be from Persia, Egypt or China, while archaeological evidence shows an early ball-and-stick game played in Greece in the 400s BCE. As civilization spread, so did the games. In 1872, a young man from Halifax, Nova Scotia named James Creighton moved to Montreal, bringing the sport of ice hockey with him bringing with him hockey sticks and skates. Which in turn a man named Lord Stanley created the first national hockey organization. In 1912 the very first professional hockey game. I’ll present my information in chronological order with also talking about how and when hockey affected the country presented.
When I was eleven years old, I started playing field hockey for a simple reason: all of my friends were playing. Everyone else had quit playing soccer, so I decided that I wanted to play both. One season later, the soccer practices disappeared from my schedule. I started to play hockey year-round, and I fell in love with the sport by complete accident. I learned to dodge, pass, and shoot, and I got to run around and laugh at practice a few nights every week. Middle school recreational leagues turned into the high school varsity team in the fall and a club team for the rest of the year. Many of my friends stopped playing when we got to college, choosing to devote their free time to other organizations. I, on the other hand, could not let it
Zanesville would get a 19-yard catch by Andrew Everson and then a 17-yard run by Murphy to give the impression that their offense was ready to turn it on. Then with 2:49 left in the half Everson would get sacked by Marques Sherman for
Another Sunday, another Sunday with the New York Mets being blown out. After taking 2 out of the 3 from the Colorado Rockies, the Mets currently sit 9.5 games out of second wild card spot in the National League. It would have been nice for to the Mets end up sweeping the Rockies and end the weekend 7.5 games out. With 7 games remaining on the home stand, I believe that if the Mets want to be involved in a discussion for the wild card spot, they will need to at least win 5 of the games. With 4 games against the Cardinals and 3 against the lonely Oakland A’s, it won’t be easy. As seen the weekend before the all-star break, the Mets went to St. Louis and lost 2 out 3, including only scoring 1 run in the final two days. The end of
It is a known fact that sports are a significant factor into the way of life for Americans. Families will sacrifice much of their lives to see one of the children become a professional athlete. One of those sacrifices is money. Money for some families, seems almost unlimited while for the majority of families, money is something difficult to come by. Depending on which family a child belongs to, their chances of playing college or professional ball is drastically different. The world of high school sports is becoming more financially demanding than ever because camp prices are rising at an overwhelming rate, families are acquiring debt in hope that their kid is successful, and student athletes of lower class families are not getting the head starts of upper class family athletes.
College sports isn't what everyone makes it out to be. Some people relate college sports to High School sports only to the extent of: it's a level harder. Many feel that college sports isn't that big of a deal. What little people know is being a collegiate athlete is a job. The life ou hae is set out for you on the court. Most of the free time off the court is spent doing homework. There's hardly any time for a social life, and or time for your family. Being a collegiate athlete isn't just about playing sports anymore, this is your job.
So where does all the codswallop, all the stories about hockey’s demise come from? They come from immigration patterns which have seen millions arriving in Canada from cultures where hockey is barely heard of. They come from melting ice caps, a dwindling number of backyard rinks, falling enrolments in hockey youth programs.
We all have some type of sports story growing up, either you were playing or just watching, you have some story to tell. I have been playing sports ever since I can remember, I started when I was little and then I just never stopped. I played basketball, volleyball, and my favorite sport softball until sadly something happen. Softball had always been my sport and I was planning on playing college ball but the winter of my sophomore year of high school that all stopped.
Field hockey is a sport that teaches kids how to work as a team, so why is there not a professional league? The field hockey player’s parents have to spend hundreds of dollars for their kid to succeed, for nothing. Lots of girls play field hockey to become a professional and make a living with it, but they cannot because their is no professional league. This sports helps kids to work as a team and to get along with others. No one should be hesitant about making field hockey a professional sport.

What is lacrosse? That is a question a lot of people are still wondering, but a question that a lot more people are figuring out. Lacrosse has been around forever, but it is just now starting to get big. It would be a stretch to say that nobody really likes lacrosse, however it is more the case that not many people really know much about the sport. Lacrosse is one of the the largest growing sports in Ohio, and the more people learn about the sport, the faster the sport grows.
As one of the top four professional games in the United States and Canada, ice hockey is very prominent in North America. Ice hockey athletes are required to be proficient in muscle power and speed while maintaining balance and flexibility in order to respond to on-ice movements and opposing players. As a result, players must have the muscular strength, power, flexibility, and balance to response to these challenges (Potteiger, Smith, Maier, & Foster, 2010). Player position is also a factor in athlete performance due to the specific need of each position. While forwards and defenseman have minor differences between their playtime and the characteristics of their positions, goalies are vastly different in terms of their presence and importance
or the past 8 years I've been playing baseball. It has been a fun experience to play baseball. usually I would play pitcher because I have speed but I'm OK at accuracy. Pitcher is also my favorite position. Sometimes I will play shortstop or right fielder. I love baseball so much and I look forward to becoming an MLB star someday and if you were wondering what the scariest part about baseball is, the answer to that question is going up to bat. The reason is you might get hit by a pitch. I also have played soccer for a few years. It was not that fun. After a little while, I found out that soccer isn't for me. I've played it and it was fun at the time. I also wanted to try tackle football, my dad said yes, but my mom was not okay with it. Picking the sports was a hard decision for me, but I chose baseball.
