The main role of the teacher is to be able to engage all of their students in such a way as to inspire them to want to learn. Being able to teach effectively is not about knowing the subject matter, but by being able to deliver that subject matter in such a way that students will learn and retain what is being taught.

As an Instructor within the ACF, there are several publications that provide the guidelines and codes of practice required to train safely such as the following examples: * Protection of Children Act 1999 * Every Child Matters. * JSP 535 Cadet Training Safety Precautions * Pamphlet No. 5C Infantry Training
The main features of the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) is that it requires certain health and safety procedures to be maintained in a health and social care setting, for example, the act explains that there must be, safe operation and maintenance of working equipment, plant and system, maintenance of safe access to the workplace, safe use, handling and storage of dangerous/hazardous substances, training of staff to ensure that there is health and safety, to provide welfare for staff at work.
In addition, the teacher is responsible for researching the subject area to ensure a wide, current knowledge base that will help when establishing credibility and professionalism, and then to develop a variety of interesting ways to deliver the content whilst ensuring a safe working environment for students. The teacher’s role is then to deliver the lesson content in a manner consistent with the learning styles and requirements of the delegates. These might include lecturing, large group discussion or case studies.

Usage of equipment should be monitored constantly and children should be given instructions of how to use it. Equipment should be stored safely and should be checked and maintained regularly. Any damaged equipment should be removed, repaired or made unreachable if its condition creates a risk of hazard.
The workplace is a delicate environment filled with different personalities types. These differing needs of feeling safe and comfortable create many challenges in the workplace. The creation of the Human Resource Department has helped create a safety net for all employees to fall under and create a stable environment for employees to feel safe and secure. The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice 2001 outlines the statutory guidance for policy and the procedures and responsibilities towards children and special educational needs. It includes the levels of support which should be provided to children depending upon their individual needs.

Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 – for example, to ensure heavy lifting is done properly and safely. A manual or test could be done to assure employers that their employees know what they are doing. (Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations). For example, at Clarke Willmott we use Workright. Workright sends new employees an assessment to complete about manual handling and other health and safety risks.
As a teacher, one of my main roles is to motivate my learners, to develop their ability to learn also to develop my learner’s aspiration to learn.
