Florida Short Story

Do you know when you are on a plane, your ears pop like crazy? Well, I know from experience, because I was on a plane to Florida for 2 ½ hours. My family, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents were all going to Florida. When the airplane takes off for the very first time, your ears are not used to the elevation, so it will mostly likely hurt. You eventually get used to the feeling of it, after a certain amount of time in the plane.

We had been searching for something else to do while we were on our trip and we couldn't find anything.Since we didn't know what to do we went out to dinner in hope to find something to do later in the week while we were there.I do not particularly remember the name of the restaurant since it was chinese but it was absolutely amazing.We had to wait in line for a while since it was a very popular restaurant around that place. After breakfast I went to my cabin with Z and we got changed into our swimming suits and we went to the swimming pool. It kinda sucked. It was a salt water pool, so when the waves rocked the boat the salt water rolled toward me in a wave and I had the taste of saltwater in my mouth.

When I was 3 years old, just 19 months after my sister was born, we went on a trip to Florida. We had to wake up at about 3:00 a.m. ,because it takes us an hour to get are luggage in the truck and to get everyone up and dressed. Our truck was a black Suburban. It took an hour and a half to get the airport, an hour or two to get our 3 bags of luggage on the plane,to get breakfast,to get coffee for my Mom, Dad, Nana Pat, and, Papa Daryl. Finally, we got a security check for all of us.

It was carrying a lot of people from all over the world. I have never been so excited in my life to go to one place. The anticipation was so overwhelming and once again, I could not wait to get to the resort. After a twenty minute bus ride we got to the resort. Once I stepped off the bus I could remember seeing the beautiful palm trees and feeling the heat of the sun beating on my face. I said to my dad, finally we made it and let the fun begin. We got settled and checked into the hotel. My brother and I decided to check the rest of the resort out. The resort had a crystal clear pool with a bar in it. It was amazing and I have never seen anything like it before in my life. The resort also had ten gourmet restaurants and plenty of entertaining things for us kids to do. It was a beautiful sunny day and my family and I were driving on the expressway. We were in my Dad’s blue truck with the fifth wheel behind us. We had the windows down in the amazing 80 degree weather. We were around our exit, Myrtle Beach! I was so excited for the trip and couldn’t wait to put my foot in the blue, cold, salt water. After the like 15 hour drive we had just suffered through I was expecting a pretty great trip.

Being the middle child, my parents have always taken the older sibling on trips and so when the opportunity came around for a trip. The time was 11:00 am. The date was June 3rd, and the destination was San Francisco. When we arrived at the airport and were waiting to get on the plane the time flew by; 3 hours felt like 30 minutes. I waited anxiously for the plane to take off and when it did, my stomach turned upside down. I knew there was no turning back now. We landed at the San Francisco airport, and my parents told me we got a rental car, and I got to pick it out. I chose a slick, deep red Chrysler; the idea of that car gave me a spring in my step.

When i went Destin, Florida. I went to Florida this summer after school was out . We went with my sisters best friend, and my best friend’s family. We drove from Arkansas all the way to Destin, Florida. The day we got there we went straight to the beach! It was the first time I had ever seen the ocean! The following day we decided to go down to the smoothie shack and get a smoothie then swim in the pool. The grown ups went to the beach while we were at the pool.

When it was midnight, we loaded the car and drove through Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama. We stopped at a few places to grab food or gas. It was a long time, but it was worth it when we finally reached our condo. It was beautiful! We went to the balcony to see the ocean and it was crystal clear. The beach wasn’t crowded either. Another great memory I had was when I went to Myrtle Beach with my mom, grandma, and older brother Vincent. We stayed in a horrible motel it stunk, had bugs, and a small shower but we made the best of it. One day while we was there we were walking on the pier and this disabled man in a wheelchair was fishing and caught a baby shark and he stopped me to show me what he had caught, and he asked me if I did not mind would I throw the shark back in the water and i looked at him like he was crazy and he told me it was okay to pick it the shark up as long and I did not touch near his mouth, so I go

When we were leaving to Maryland, I was sad to leave my dog but we had no choice. Our trip to Maryland was about 12 hours long but we took about 14 or 15 hours. We left at 3 in the afternoon, and we did get lost a few times but we had a GPs. We passed by Ohio and it was so long. We also passed by Columbus and it was beautiful. We passed by a lot of cities. When we were in West Virginia my dad almost ran over a drunk man and he even looked to see if there were any cars but he just walked! The ride was so long but my brother and I couldn't sleep, all 4 of us pulled an all nighter.

This was rare since each of my siblings were playing a travel sport at the time, aside from my sister who was too young. We were also able to get my uncle, aunt, and cousin, Jimmy, to go with us. On this trip, our goal was to spend as much time as we could at the beaches and exploring the beautiful outdoors. We did not want to be wrapped up in our phones or stuck in the house. On the second to last day of the trip, we decided to take a bike ride down to our favorite beach. However, something was different. My whole family had gotten on a bike and began to ride down the roads with me, and there is not a time where I can remember them not saying a word. There was not a sound in the air. I could only hear the whistling of the wind and the tread of the bike tires rubbing across the pavement walkways. Although I love my loud family, this was a moment of peace. When the airplane arrived, we bored in about 15 minutes, and when we bored we all found our seats and one of us had to sit alone. The person who sat alone was my grandma because she went on many of flights and she didn’t want my brother and I sitting right next to a stranger. When, we were about to take off the wings had some snow and ice on them. It took the workers about an hour to get all of the snow/ice off. In the meanwhile it got hot in the airplane, and I went to the bathroom after waiting 5 minutes for someone to get out, and I started getting hungry.

My mom, dad, brother, and I were all putting sunscreen on, head to toe like we showered in it while we were waiting for the cab to pick us up to go pick up the ATV's. Once the cab got to the hotel, we all had to stuff ourselves and our belongings in it because it was one of those mini cars that only had room for three people, but we were four people not including the driver. At the ATV Rental place, we got sized for helmets and the ATV. My brother and I were not old enough to drive the ATV so my brother and my father went together while my mother and I went together. One Thursday evening, I was with my boyfriend and his family at Buffalo Wild Wings. We were having a good time talking about life, upcoming birthdays and school. Everyone in the restaurant was enjoying their meal and having a conversation with their loved ones. Minutes before leaving, I decided to go to the restroom to wash my hands and put some lipstick on. We were planning on watching a movie after we ate.
