Illegal Immigrants and Free Healthcare Men and women are here illegally in this country, and receiving free healthcare and welfare. This causes multiple problems for the government and U.S Citizens. The true question is; why is the government providing Illegal immigrants with free health care, but do not provide it for the individuals who fought and continue to fight for this country. Free healthcare to illegal immigrants causes emergency rooms to be more crowded, U.S. government overspending, and it forces illegal immigrants to register and become U.S citizens with mandatory employment
In the last few years the emergency rooms have became more crowed due to the growing population

“The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), a conservative advocacy group that favors tighter immigration laws, argues that the answer is clear: illegal aliens cost U.S. taxpayers more than $100 billion each year” (Fahmy). From a standpoint of a U.S Military Service Member, civilians have no clue how mad and angry that makes the men and women fighting for this country risking their lives for those who cannot defend themselves. While the U.S Federal Government could be providing better health care, or protection, for the U.S Military Service Members of this great nation, it is not. But when Politian’s chooses to hypothetically bend over backwards for someone who just comes to our country and expects/ demands everything they want or think they are entitled to; it is completely wrong. If the U.S Federal Government made it to where those illegal immigrants were forced to work the cost would …show more content…
“Since employment is the magnet that draws illegal immigrants into the U.S., it follows that the best way to reduce illegal immigration is to shrink the employment magnet” (Rector). Especially when there are veterans in America that are jobless and homeless when they need it more. This just shows what America stands for and is doing. Owners of business”. Should empower honest employers by freeing them from the burden of competing with dishonest businesses that deliberately hire illegal workers”(Rector). Owners of business are hiring illegal immigrants under the table even though Americans are hard working and are in need of jobs and healthcare.
All in all, Illegal Immigrants are not entitled to free Healthcare. Illegal immigrants cost the U.S Federal Government money, along with the loss of jobs to Americans and crowed Emergency rooms. Instead of giving free healthcare to illegal immigrants, the government should be focusing their attention on the men and women that have bravely for this country. It would benefit veterans by taking them off the streets and providing them with a
With the economy of the United States in shambles, illegal immigration and the effects it has on health care can no longer be ignored. America has a whole needs to be concerned and well informed of the issues rather than collecting information piecemeal by way of media or other biased groups. If illegal immigration stays its present course the American tax-payer will continue to fund the well being of individuals who have broken federal rules and regulations and are being supported by law abiding citizens. This argument is not about individual rights to live and prosper. It is not about race or discrimination of any sort. It is only about the effects on health care that I am addressing.
Regardless of how important basic healthcare is to undocumented immigrants, there are parts of group that disagree with equal access to healthcare for everyone in the U.S. In America, all the social benefits that were granted to individuals are from the tax dollar that people pay each year. The tax dollars are the money that are being deducted from each paycheck of an individual worker and the money will be in return of government subsidy and benefits. When there were more people immigrated to the country but less or the same amount of people joining the workforce to contribute to the system, there would not be enough money to satisfy everyone’s need. According to “U.S. Taxpayers Should Not Have to Pay for Illegal Immigrants’ Healthcare” that
By legalizing illegal immigrants more taxes will be collected and all the bills would be paid, and if they are unable to pay it will show on the record. Many legal Americans have limited or no health-care benefits and must rely on subsidized assistance in the form of programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. All government-subsidized programs to fund health care for indigent patients have finite resources. Yet, the estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants, through no fault of their own, have medical needs and emergencies—for which most tabs are picked up by taxpayers (Negy 140). The argument that undocumented immigrants pay taxes and are thus entitled to subsidized health care is flawed for two reasons. One, the majority of undocumented immigrants
Oh really?? Please tell me how an undocumented immigrant can acquire this free health care. Last time I checked, you need a special number called a social security number which undocumented immigrants dont have (hence the word UNDOCUMENTED)! How could you be so ignorant? Although I do agree it is an embarrassment that veterans dont get the health care they deserve, undocumented immigrants have nothing to do with that!! How can they take advantage of the system if they live in the shadows? If anyone is taking advantage of the free healthcare, it would be the AMERICAN CITZENS that drive up to the medicaid offices in a BRAND NEW LEXUS (and yes I have seen this happen). How the hell can you afford a LEXUS and at the same time qualify for Medicaid??
One of the most important issues for illegal immigrant in America is the benefits of health care. According to me, Government should not leave behind the illegal immigrants to provide health care. Even though they had been broken the government rules and regulations, and they have been staying illegally in the country, we should support and provide health care because they are also human beings. Of course, they have been getting health benefits in some areas, but that is not enough for them. According to Whiteman, “For undocumented immigrants in the United States, obtaining health insurance through the government is next to impossible, with both the Affordable Care Act and a recent executive immigration order explicitly declaring them ineligible
The government increases the cost of the health care for people who earn more and help others who cannot afford it such as the kids of illegal aliens and that cost greatly. “It is estimated that U.S. taxpayers spend $12,000,000,000 a year on primary and secondary school education” (Retrieved from www.infowars.com) (Snyder, 2011). This affects the entire U.S citizens who pay for health care, now they have to pay twice because illegal immigrants are abusing the system.
Healthcare officials have reported that there has been an increase in fiscal pressures due to the rapidly growing illegal immigrant population that has overwhelmed their systems (Muschek 2015). “Between 1990 and 2008 in the state of California alone, more than 70 emergency rooms closed due to the overextending of their limited resources and funding” (Muschek 2015). This potentially affects all individuals seeking medical assistance in the United States. While Americas’ emergency rooms are limited in space and resources, illegal immigrants can also receive welfare benefits.
United States have taken a lot of action to reform the health insurance industry, but they failed until the The Affordable Care Act passed. There were about 33 million people living without Health Insurance in the United States, which is why over thousands of people died per year. Most of them were noncitizen immigrants who were not qualified for Medicaid and millions of them were undocumented. Due to the American laws, undocumented people were prohibited to receive Medicaid and buying Insurances. The purpose of the Insurance was to help the poor, low income people and legalized people who were in poverty. If America spends all their money on the illegal people, then, the legalize people will not receive the service. Illegal did not have any rights over the benefits which were offered by the The government. However, many people got benefits in many illegal ways which is why many Americans did not get the benefits. In the other hand, legal immigrant, who was living in the United States less than five years, they did not get enough health care as the people with the citizenship. The big amount of benefits was getting the people with citizenship, which is why there was a lack of health care for the legal residence people. By passing the Obama Care
Illegal Immigration is currently flooding the labor market, primarily in the low-skill, low-wage sectors, and driving down wages and working conditions for many Americans because of our immigration policies. As a result, illegal immigrants have a negative effect on the economy as they do not pay taxes and take benefits they do not deserve. The extent of illegal immigration has reached such enormous proportions that a reform of the immigration is vitally necessary for American society. It is not tenable that such a large part of a society 's life contains an irregular and 'illegal ' element, and it is necessary for large numbers of these immigrants to have their lives and their contributions legalized and regularized.
About half of immigration into the United States is illegal, thus approximately half of the impact of immigration on our health care system is due to illegal immigration. The influx of illegal aliens has serious hidden medical consequences. We judge reality primarily by what we have seen. But what we do not see can be more dangerous, more expensive, and more deadly than what is seen. What is unseen is their free medical care that has degraded and closed some of America’s finest emergency medical facilities, and caused hospital bankruptcies.
Even though illegal immigrants are barred from receiving healthcare, some say that preventing illegal immigrants from receiving basic health care is fiscally irresponsible (Mukherjee). This model will save money for the moment. However, it ends up costing more in the future due to emergency’s (Mukherjee).
In my view, American citizens are having the right and priority access to health care insurance, primary care, and secondary care. Undocumented immigrants have to be documented immigrants in order to have access to health care insurance. People move to the United States for various reasons for example, good career, high salary, and modern life style. The one difference is the way of immigration, so some people choose the right path which is legal immigrants, but some of them choosing to be illegal immigrants. The second way has some difficulties for illegal immigrants which are having hard time getting health and medical services for easy life. Moreover, some of them decide to be permanent residents, but the other choose to be temporary residents.
To lower the health care cost that the taxpayers are paying is very simple. If immigrants had the opportunity to access health care this cost would lower. Also granting them a legal status would mean that they would be contributing to pay into the federal income tax base. Doing this means that the immigrants would be putting money towards the costs of their health care. The pie chart by Kaiser Family Foundation shows “Immigrants as a share of the U.S. population and by citizenship status”. As shown in the pie chart, all immigrants from the U.S. in 2011 only makes up about 13 percent of the United States total population. This shows that both undocumented and documented immigrants do not make up a significant amount of the population. Since they made up on 13 percent of the population, giving them access to medical programs should be a given.
Should the U.S. government provide free health care for all citizens? Free health care for all citizens, is a very controversial topic that has been debated for years. This debate concerns many pros and cons, such as “CNN reporting that 45,000 Americans are dying per year because they do not have access to health care because of costs.” According to research and statistics, majority of the people say that they agree with having free health care. Most people agreed because they believe it is the government’s job to help the ones that are in need. This paper will discuss why free health care is needed, what problems are caused by not providing free healthcare for all citizens, and the solutions that will benefit everyone.
The Center for American Progress’ reports in 2010 unauthorized immigrants paid $13 billion into Social Security and received only $1 billion in services—a net contribution of $12 billion. From 2000 to 2011, unauthorized immigrants paid $35.1 billion more into Medicare than they withdrew. (1)
