Brian,
I think you made a great point! I too believe that your ideas of the continuous change of atmospheres and lack of moral values play a major role in the “gang world.” For example I know many people personally who do not have any moral values, does not care about anything, and has no goals in life, so they commit all if not most of their time and dedication to their gang. Also atmospheres are constantly changing and gangs are always migrating to new areas, which often leads to new recruitments. I also agree with you that “gangsta rap” music as well as the videos has made violence and the gang life seem socially acceptable to live the lifestyle they are living. This often leads to people wanting to be like the rappers or ultimately forming
Have you ever queried why some influential hip hop artists aren't assembling against racial discrimination, police brutality, and other pressing issues plaguing the underserved communities?
In addition to increasing awareness of issues that are going on in America, Hip Hop gives youth a needed outlet from their lives and an outlet for self-expression. Many hip hop artists rap and talk Their poverty and daily struggles they experienced while growing up in an inner-city America. Many rappers like Kanye West and Logic now use their platform to talk about rising to the top and the obstacles they overcame. Those messages implanted in the music give hope to younger kids going through the same situation. For example, when an artists talks and raps about their distressed childhood with drug-addicted and abusive parents. A kid going through the same situation and get through it easier and see that if this person made it out so can I. When
What is Hip Hop?an urban youth culture associated with rap music and the fashions of African-American residents of the inner city.
After reading your post I wanted to express how it hit the proverbial nail on the head in my opinion, great response. Like you I was surprised to learn that gang membership was not lifelong (Pyrooz, 2014). As Pyrooz stated, most of my conceptions of gangs and gang involvement has comprised from what Hollywood as well as the media tells me. Movies that depict gangs often show individuals in excess of their 20’s as lifelong members. Additionally, when the media report about a gang member being caught for a crime or sentenced I recall that it is mostly adults. Perhaps, it is directly related to the area in which I live.
The genre of rap has a bad rap– it is frequented with explicit language, incomprehensible, and it glorifies violence, misogyny, and drug usage. In fact according to Best Tickets Data Collective, the average rap album has 217.7 “cuss words” per album. Despite its negative connotations and usage of expletive words in its lyrics, rap is a favorite genre among teenagers because it addresses current issues impacting society and shares perspectives from different socioeconomic statuses and races.
individuals fell into on account of the verses and the savagery in a large portion of the rap music. (Ricahrdson, 2002)
What does rap and geometry have in common? Most would think not very much, but in the summer of 2017, the intersection of both topics revealed high motivation for learning geometry through rapping. Not to mention that this was all done on the fly. It was done through freestyle rap. Freestyle rap is a popular improvisational tool used by many professional rappers to intrigue their audience as they come up with meaningful rhymes on the spot. The same intriguing audience can be found in a summer school classroom when their teacher came up with rhymes over topics they learned about that week in geometry.
I asked the question “What kind of music do you like??” He replied with the statement I like all types of music except for the music I can’t understand and I am also not a fan of country music if I had to pick a favorite form of music I would have to say rap I believe his statement is valid because when you listen to music it can be for one or more reasons you can like the lyrics or you can like the beat if you don’t like either of them then there isn’t a point to continue listening to that song.
My favorite music is rap. There’s something about rap that makes me feel a certain mood I can hardly explain. There are many rappers out there that some people may like that I don’t. I also make raps in my free time if i’m in a silent room and listening to rap music to get me in that mood. I like classic rap like 2pac and Biggie, and some modern rap like Danny Brown and Stitches. A lot of people bully me over the music I listen to and I try my best to ignore them but they somehow get in my head. I also like some rock like Hed.Pe and Three Doors Down. I’m like my dad in a way.
A Type Beat is definitely an instrumental song, intentionally matching patterns of already existing songs, while using usual kinds of BPM, drum sounds as well as song structure, to become simple to match a rapper. Type Beats are generally uploaded online for display as well as promotion, as well as on the beatmakers’ websites for sale, or even on platforms created for this (Soundclick, ExpertBeats, Beatstars). The embedded identify mentions the kind of artist the beat was encouraged by, to make it clear to see, easy to rap to, simple to find, and to make sure to reach lots of clicks by mentioning some sort of big name.
Hip hop music, also called hip-hop or rap music, is a music genre developed in the United States by inner-city African American in the 1970s which consists of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly accompanies rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming speech that is chanted. Rap music has become one of the most distinctive and controversial music genres of the past few decades. Time changes, people changes and taste of the rap has changed too. Hip pop has been totally modified into a genre of music that no longer serves its original purpose like voicing the political, social, and cultural struggle of the black people instead it only talks about sex, drug, money, negative influence of gangster, and very offensive.
There two different ways to define the word music. One way to define music is it being written and or printed signs representing vocal or instrumental sound. Secondly, you can defined music as being vocal or instrumental sounds and or both combined as to produce harmony and expression of emotion. Music comes in different sizes, shapes, forms, and styles. You may not notice but music is all around you. The sounds of the birds chirping, cars moving, horns bumping, and people talking. In addition, there are lots of different types of music, Classic, Rap, R&B, Hip-Hop, Jazz. There are also different culture and country music as well. For example, like in Afghanistan. They have their own music. They have their own style and way they play their music as well.
Should rap music be banned as dangerous and unsuitable for anyone under of 18 years of age?
Before I could dive into the gang sub culture I had to ask the obvious question. What is a gang? A gang is a group of people who want to be seen as different from others and want others to perceive them as a distinct group. This group is organized, has leadership, and is committing criminal acts in the community. Gangs have been in existence for as long as there have been inhabitants of this world. Even the word "Thug" dates back to India in 1200 Ad as a word they used to describe a gang of criminals. In the United States we grew up with a different kind of thug, like pirates and gangsters, therefore, gangs, undoubtedly, are not a new concept. For decades, these gangsters weren't thought of as "all that bad." In fact they may have been loved by the community, or the public as a whole. I feel this is a major part of the reason why teens join gangs. The Media glorification of Al Capone and Lucky Luciano made men like Elliot Ness seem like one of the "bad guys." Being apart of something bigger than them maybe also what attracts teens to gangs. Just the thought of being a part of something bigger than them makes some teens salivate. Teens who come from houses where there might be an adult with a drug problem or something of that nature are more prone to join a gang than someone who lives with both parents in a somewhat normal home. The family aspect of the gang is almost like a
Young gang members, are increasing, but why? Gangs are influencing the environment, and people are being affected by it, but it mostly affects kids and teenagers. But first, what is a gangster they are one of the biggest problems affecting teenagers. But there's another problem, why kids are being influenced by gangs. Parents affect what children do too. So there are two major things that affect a kids choice in becoming a gangster or not. Parents in crime related things are more likely to teach their child bad things like they do. Kids are most likely going to grow up to be gangsters if the environment is filled with gang related crime or if their parents are in gangs. Things do affect how kids grow up and it almost and maybe always depends on the parents. Parents responsibilities are to take care and raise their child and if not that’s where gangs open up to kids as a second opportunity.
