Garo Hills-The Ecological Canvas of Meghalaya Forming the western division of the State the entire Garo Hills have an area of approximately 8,000 sq kms. The Garos mostly inhabiting the three districts of the State namely East Garo Hill, West Garo hill and South Garo Hill are essentially unreasonable, believe in spirits and have rich habitual tales of myths and legends. The City of Boroondara acknowledges the people of the Kulin Nation as Traditional Owners of the land of Boroondara. Today, two community organisations represent the interests of Indigenous people in Boroondara and the Eastern Metropolitan Region. They are the Wurundjeri Land Tribe and Compensation Cultural Heritage Council Inc. (Wurundjeri Council) and the Inner East Local Indigenous Network (LIN). The Wurundjeri people are recognised as the Traditional Owners of land in the northern area of Boroondara. The Wurundjeri Council represents the Wurundjeri people and is the key contact for activities occurring in the northern area that can only be performed by Traditional Owners. The Inner East LIN is an Indigenous community organisation representing the interests of Indigenous people in Boroondara and the Eastern Metropolitan Region.
As many people in the Bellingham community know, Lake Samish is a place used by various individuals, for innumerable activities. Placed just south of Western Washington University’s campus a few miles, it is a hasty commute for folks in Bellingham, as well as surrounding cities. Whether one simply wants to gaze at the beauty which ensconces the lake, or go out for a paddle in a kayak, Lake Samish serves as a phenomenal community, welcoming anyone and anything.
While in many ways the two lakes share similar attributes, they can also be observed as their own entities. Each lake containing characteristics that make them preferred for some species types. In addition, the region shares some environmental concerns. Those concerns pertaining to invasive species as well as poor water quality. The author begins the article by preparing the audience what is about to come. Telling the audience that cultures around the world have unusual customs and an anthropologist would even seek out a culture that has one when everyone seems to agree. He then talks about the Nacirema tribe and the extremities of their practices.
Ka loko o Kiholo is known for its beautiful bay and camping sites although most are unaware of an ancient pond created by King Kamehameha himself. This ancient fishpond continues to stand today although its health has diminished over the years. As of 2012 conservation efforts have been made by volunteers, the Nature Conservancy, TNC, and Hui Aloha Kiholo. Currently, conservationists work to improve water quality, reduce sediments created by invasive plants, and in turn, allow native species to thrive. With these efforts, the ponds ecosystem has begun to restore itself as fish populations begin to thrive one again. As a running start student with Palamanui I learned of these efforts and joined the crew to give back to the land.

For us to properly learn about culture, we must understand the meaning of cultural relativism and ethnocentrism. The two concepts challenge one another. Reading the article, we must pull away from our ethnocentric views and think critically about the Nacirema people's. However, the description of the culture creates an ideology that is hard to agree with. For example, the Nacirema peoples take part in a rite that involves hog hairs and magical powders. The Nacirema rituals do sound strange and displeasing but, we have to learn to recognize our ethnocentric judgments.
The Gebusi had done something rather remarkable. This new development had changed their culture in every way possible, we see that in the differences between the 1982 and the 1998 Gebusi; however in 2002 instead of doing what most cultures would have done, which is continued with the western development, they instead found a medium between what they once were and what they had become. The Gebusi created this in-between culture that included both traditional and modern influences. The Gebusi built new long houses over in the Gasumi corners, which indicated that the youngest generation had been initiated in accordance with the older traditional ways and their farming was also indicative of being traditional, using semi-domestic pigs. The customs that still resembled the modern influences were those that of religion, and maturation. Because of the introduction of Christianity and Catholicism their belief system never reverted back to what it once was but did show a mixture between the traditional practices and the new ones. The deserts of Arid-Taklamakan often considered by most as the "Kingdom of sand and danger", considering the hostile creatures living in the environment and extreme heat keeps people near the coastal city of Arid-Kasshrin to battle the extreme heat.
