In this reflection, I will be looking at on my feedback from peers and lecturer for teaching and learning presentation. I am going to use the Gibbs model for reflection for this reflective writing in my assignment (Bastable, 2014). This is reflection will start off from description, feeling, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and action plan which will explain about my strength, weakness and what I could have done to improve myself.

Effective reflection helps the practitioner to see the situation from an outsider's perspective, so that they can develop a better way to respond to a similar scenario in the future. Reflection is meant to achieve a change in practice, rather than simply repeating the same mistakes (Schon, 1983). Many different models exist for structuring the reflective process. Regardless of the framework used, the reflection models are meant to accomplish three things. They are supposed to promote reflecting on events, self-evaluation and analysis, and a plan to change actions in the future. This Reflective essay will utilize Driscoll's 'The What?' model as its structure (Driscoll, 1994). This model has three components"
To conclude with, during the first semester of the academic year I have been excessively supported by my seminar leaders and personal tutor. I am fully satisfied with my team working skills that I gained after contributing with the group. Getting knowledge is the same as recognising yourself in a deeper manner (Cannon-Bowers and Salas, 1997). In order to build up my critical reflective report, I adopted Gibbs’ reflective model, which guides me to express feelings that are not covered on other reflective models I mentioned in early paragraphs. According to Finlay (2008) expressing feelings & thoughts play a fundamental role while reflecting upon a situation. After evaluating Tuckman’s “developmental sequence of small groups” (1965) in more detail,
This reflection was done using the Gibbs reflective cycle. It has six steps including Description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and finally the action plan. The description section is an introduction to the contents of the reflection, ensuring the reader gets a foundational understanding of the materials. In the Feelings section, I can discuss how I felt about an incident/activity that occurred. The evaluation section allows me to assess the positives/negatives of the way I handled the situation. Then the analysis section is for me to consider steps I could take starting from now that allow me to improve. The conclusion section is for me to bring all the elements of the reflection together. Finally, the Action Plan section is there for me to decide what I would like to do in the future.
During the whole situation from the moment we pulled up out side the house I was very nervous and wanting to give a good impression only made this worse. Once we had entered the house and met Tom I calmed down a little. I was surprised at my own reaction of distaste when I entered the house and encounter a grumpy drunk so early in the morning; I had no prior knowledge of his situation (Claire later informed me that his wife had recently divorced him and he was having difficulties coping).
Firstly I felt nervous at the start as I was doing things I had never encountered before I was also apprehensive about how well I would perform in front of the other nurses. as the procedure went on I became flustered and more nervous which made me even more jittery and I started to loose track of what I was doing this made me annoyed with myself, all this combined made me suddenly feel very hot and dizzy I tried to concentrate on what I was doing but it was impossible. After I had recovered I just felt a bit stupid and embarrassed.
The overall objective of this essay is to choose an event and reflect on the dignity of the patient and how dignity was maintained throughout the event. According to Kozier, Harvey and Morgan-Samuel (2011) dignity is treating an individual with respect, worth and value. The event I have chosen involves a patient who we found unconscious and had a ‘Do not attempt resuscitation’ (DNAR) order in place so therefore, died. To reflect on my chosen event, I will be using Gibbs Reflective Cycle (1998), I have chosen this cycle due to using this reflective cycle successfully in the past when working in a care home to thoroughly reflect on my experiences. Reflection is important in healthcare because it helps us to learn from our past experiences
In choosing Gibbs reflective model it would be illustrated in the six headings which guide me through my reflective process. These headings include:
Using Gibbs Reflective Cycle (1988), I will reflect on the CPR experience during the Clinical Stimulation Lab (CSL). I will discuss the knowledge and skills I have gained, however indicate in my action plan what things I need to further develop.
I will use a reflective model to discuss how I have achieved the necessary level of competence in my nurse training programme. The reflective model I have chosen to use is Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988). Gibbs model of reflection incorporates the following: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and an action plan (Gibbs 1988). The model will be applied to the essay to facilitate critical thought, relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion will include the knowledge underpinning practice and the evidence base for the clinical skill. A conclusion to the essay will
I will structure this essay using Gibbs Model of Reflection (Gibbs 1988). Reflective learning helps practitioners analyse their experiences and how they think and feel about them before
The assignment critically discusses a reflective practice with regards to a clinical placement I undertook. In the following critical incident that I encountered I will utilize the Gibbs Reflective Model. Gibbs reflective model is fairly straightforward and encourage a clear description of the situation. Analysis of feelings, evaluation of the experience, analysis to make sense of the experience, conclusion and action plan where other options are considered and reflection upon experience to examine what you would do if the situation arose again (Gibbs 1998). Unlike many other models (with the exception of Boud) Gibbs model takes in to account the realm of feelings and emotions, which played a part in a particular event. My rationale for
Referring to the model of Gibbs reflective cycle, the essay first described the good or bad experiences from the event occurred to me. Secondly, it discussed the solution required to overcome the bad experience and finally, the action plan highlighting the fruitful benefits that I have achieved.
Gibbs Reflective Cycle (1988), a framework for students to resolve problems in assignments, step by step, I will reflect on my own problems, (UK Essays, 2013). My previous goal was to study in a university and now that I have accomplished that goal, my next goal is to complete the course with a good grade. But the reality of achieving the Foundation Degree is a much harder concept than what I first thought, having a writer 's
In this class I learned a lot of new skills such as, the rhetorical, visual argument and proposal. I would like to write about each topic individually. First topic was rhetorical essay, I loved this topic because it clarifies a lot of in the essay such as the appeals and who it is important for any paper in the future. Second topic was the visual argument, this topic helped me to create my first visual argument, present it front my classmate, and try to send my message to people. Third topic was proposal, this topic helped me by find a problem then find a solution and find a counterargument. This is helped me to look at any problem from different views. Now I’m writing the reflection (letter) to my professor, I’m so happy because I can express my feelings and express my thanks and gratitude to the best English teacher ever. I’m so glad that I’m one of her student because that allowed me to learn from her experience and
