Globalization Nation-State

Globalization is the process through which events and decisions in one part of the world have come to affect people in another part of the world and therefore have led to greater inter-locking of different parts of the world. It has often been claimed that globalization poses challenges about the validity of the concept of the nation-state. Some believe that because of liberalization and globalization, the need of nation-state or the concept of sovereignty within the nation- state has diminished. I strongly disagree with this statement and therefore will like to prove my point in the upcoming paragraphs.
According to Grotius, “Sovereignty is the supreme political power vested in him whose acts are not subject to any other and whose will cannot be over-ridden”. It shows that Sovereignty is the exclusive, all-comprehensive or universal, inalienable, permanent and indivisible power of the state. Furthermore, the concept of the nation-state is well defined by Grossberg. He claims that nation-state is one which provides some securities to people such as physical security, economic and social security. He went further that the nation-state also means that sovereign is under control of its own leadership or people, but not under control of some other external aspects. Therefore nation state is identified as a political community in which the country has the power to set its own laws in order to make sure that its territorial autonomy is integrated and political sovereignty is not
