Goal 7: Creates communities of learning by working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and other members.
The standards addressed for Goal 7 include 7.3, 7.6, and 7.8. Standard 7.3 demonstrates the use of e-mail and other online tools for the reason of communicating and managing information. Standard 7.6 establishes rapport with students while teaching lesson plans. Standard 7.8 involves working collaboratively with others in completing tasks.
The supporting evidence for standard 7.3 under Goal 7 includes: an example of a discussion thread. The supporting evidence for standard 7.6 includes: 2 self evaluations, 2 teacher evaluations, peer evaluation, video clip of teaching, and video annotation. The supporting evidence for standard

At Pueblo Community college, I utilized the Desire 2 Learn to access and manage announcements, grades, email, and other materials. At Colorado State University – Pueblo, I utilize Blackboard for the same reasons. In regards to standard 7.6, based on the evaluations I have received from my cooperating teacher this semester along with my own observations, I have been successful in building a rapport with the students in the second grade class. I believe that the students felt comfortable approaching me for help. Concerning standard 7.8 I have completed over 90 credit hours while in school. Majority of the courses that I have taken have integrated group work and projects in some way or another. I find that working with a team of peers is beneficial for me, so that I can observe and learn different views and approaches on a subject. Each individual has their own strengths, weaknesses, and different learning styles, which is why group work can be helpful. Group work also requires communication skills, which are important for success as a
The key themes that run through the In TASC standards aim at improving learning and include;
The third standard is, teachers understand and use varied assessments to inform instruction, evaluate and ensure student learning. To apply this standard in my practice I will have to try give the students assessments to see if they understand the content that they are required to know. To demonstrate that I am adhering this standard, I will have to make sure that I create an assessment that I can use to test the students and to see if I am teaching them the way they need to be
For the learner’s evidence to be sufficient, it needs to relevant and proves that the learner is competent. The evidence must mean something to the learner and must not just be used for the sake of it. The evidence must be clear and logical and must meet the learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
When I become a teacher I plan to have my students work in cooperative groups because this allows them a chance to share their knowledge and ideas with their peers. Due to the fact that most students are on different developmental levels, those students who are of higher developmental levels can provide the other students with their ideas and perception of their knowledge. I feel that teachers should not be scared to let their students participate in group work because I think it is a great method of learning.
It is important for my students to understand and value learning goals in the classroom. At the start of every chapter students will be supplied an outline of what they are going to encounter in the upcoming weeks.
In order for me to demonstrate understanding of this standard, I must consider the impact of the family and community on student learning, contribute to the overall development and improvement of the school, and work with other educators to share knowledge and improve practice. My artifact contributes to school initiatives, projects, and organizations teaching me how to teach and reach my ESL students through different strategies. The ESO training was beneficial for me to gain a deeper understanding of how important communication is when teaching others. I learned it is important to my lessons to include group work instead of individual work (and vice versa), evaluate students' performance on a test to decide whether to reteach the concept or move on to a new one. It is very important to collaborate with other teachers sharing fresh ideas and exchanging a variety of strategies to help relief the stress of math problems. The ESO training used everyday problems to solve math problems. Because we use math in our everyday life it is essential for me to keep my parents informed through emails and phone
For this class project, I think my group worked well together on the assignments. We all saw we had responsibilities and were expected to do our own parts for each assignment we worked on. For each assignment, we would split it equally among us and used a tool called Google Docs so we were each on our own computers but working together on one file. Google Docs really made the process easier with reviewing all the information and having it all in one file. If any questions came up we had a group text to communicate when we weren’t on campus grounds for class.
I believe that I met this standard because I created a lesson plan each week that included reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking skills that were developmentally appropriate for the student and addressed his academic needs. I also created activities that the student enjoyed so that he would be motivated to learn new and challenging concepts. Each activity on the lesson plan correlated to an Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS) for his grade level.
Based on your Week 3 collaborative learning team discussion, submit, individually, a 350- to 700-word summary of the
Criterion 4.1: The curriculum incorporates established professional standards, guidelines, and competencies, and has clearly articulated student learning outcomes and program outcomes consistent with contemporary practice.
Goal 1: Develop a comprehensive curriculum that is inclusive, reflects multicultural diversity, and promotes contributions by all races, creeds, and cultures
Goal 4: The development of a clear commitment to maintain ethical and functional working relationships with all members of the educational community; and
The artifact I uploaded to demonstrate my proficiency in Standard 6 is my final leadership project for the Supervision of Instruction course I completed at the end of August 2015. This project required me to identify an area in which I wanted to improve my professional practices as an administrator, and then implement a plan for improvement which involved communicating with staff, tracking growth, developing action steps, and identifying potential obstacles. The area I chose to focus on was student achievement, and my goal was to increase all students’ academic growth in literacy by improving teachers’ instructional practices through professional development, feedback, and collaboration. The feedback that I received from my professor reassured
I used to believe that I did not perform very well in groups. I am an observer who likes to learn alone. I thought I learned best when I worked on my own. Even though I always knew group work had many positive values, I was more comfortable with the lecture-based approach and resisted group work merely because it involved change, not because it had a collaborative learning approach. However, during the learning community project, I came to realize that I learn more effectively when I work in groups. Working in a group was like an adventure for me; there were both exciting and challenging times while preparing for the learning community project.
