James Mason Wood said, “Education today, more than ever before, must see clearly the dual objectives: education for living and education for making a living.” When people go to school because they have to, then it is only education for living. When people try hard and get a good education, then they get good jobs to make a living. West Texas A&M University, home of the Buffaloes, will provide me with new skills to learn about the medical field and can assist me to become an anesthesiologist. Before being able to apply for WTAMU, there is some requirements college freshmen need to have and they also have to go through admissions. They need to have four English credits, four for math, four for science, three and a half for social science, half a credit for economics, one for physical education, one for speech, and six credits of electives (WTAMU). College freshmen also need to have their meningitis shot up to date before they are allowed into a classroom. They also need to submit their high school transcripts. For example, the student needs to “ensure their career choice uses their talents and passions, and they should also work towards a career that they are passionate about” (KCSE). Also, if a student wants to be a neurosurgeon for example, they “need to consider the job demand now and for the future.”(KCSE) They also need to “research the career for the starting salary, and see how many graduates got employed into that field after graduating”
It accepts students with an SAT score range of 860-1083 and an ACT range of 18-23. WTAMU recommends a High School GPA but it is not required, my current GPA places me as the salutatorian giving me a much better chance of attending my preferred college. I have a good chance of attending a college of my choice so I’m not sure if I should try to attend a college with stricter standing.
After graduating high school, no one prepares you for college. Most kids when they are finished with high school don’t even fantasize about going back to school. I have always wanted to go to college ever since I was a young kid. I also had dreams of myself going to college, but in my dreams, everything was picture perfect. In reality, college has been very challenging for me. No one tells you about the adjustments and complications that you would have to face to become a successful college student.
Goals, goals, goals they're what people think about and how they are going to achieve them in the future. My three goal in life are to get in the college of my choice, go skydiving and to get a well paying job. These three goals are important to me because they are what I am likely to achieve within the next ten years. As I grow and blossom into someone big, someone bigger than who I am today I don’t mean just physically but bigger intellectually, and more capable. These goals show me that if I want to achieve them, then I have to work hard to accomplish them.
There have been many factors that have contributed to me being a freshman at Umass this year. They ranged from my grades to the influences from people around me. Now that I made a list about different contexts I can now see how everything might be connected. The overlaying things that had the a real effect on my outcome as a now freshman at Umass Amherst. The contexts that I layed out for myself gave me a better understanding of what some of the specifics were. Two points that stood out to me was my education and Nationality. Being a college freshman at Umass is due largely to how both of these contexts interacted with each other. Having a solid educational foundation is important to get into any college. I was lucky enough to grow up in a
One of the most important things for a student to consider is what they want their occupation to be when they are an adult. Many students do not know what they want study once the student makes it to college.
“Can there really be a unified theory of everything?”, Stephen Hawking’s concern seems to be the most challenging question for scientists for years. The beauty of science underlies in its uncertainty - because we do not know anything for sure, we do more research to form a complete understanding of the universe we live in. The more we understand, the less we know. Science seeks to explain our physical and natural world through experimental and mathematical reasonings. That is the reason why science is so fascinating and this is where my academic interests lie.
To bottle the essence in this premier moment- the liquid of success and pride, the raw emotion in that moment that has propelled my character to it's actualized state of being- would have been a fantasy amongst reality. I open my tear dotted eyes as my ears resonate the echoes of confetti cannons and cheers from the arena. My muscles ache with joy, and my mind is chasing the realization that is at hand. I have just won a midwestern color guard championship. The golden haze of chaos that ensues is one that has forever imprinted on my mind, a haze that lingers in my peripheral vision, in constant search of a worthy emotion to compare to. The prime success in this moment alone- has been the sole fuel in the flame of my determination and strive for achieved ambitions.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va.--Every year players come and go, giving newcomers a chance to contribute and that is no different in Morgantown.
My goals for this year are to get good grades, make some new friends, and to become more active. At most given times, I myself personally find it very hard to achieve personal goals,
Am I ready for high school? What changes am I going to make to be successful? Do I have my short and long term goals planned out? Many questions that I was asked right before my first year of high school are ones that I didn't take literal notice of. It wasn't that those questions weren't important and wouldn't have been beneficial. It was mainly being that walking into high school for the first time I didn’t know where to go, who to talk to, and most importantly what were my goals after graduating. At the time my mind was set on childish attributes such as what girls would be there, was I well groomed, or how many of my friends did I have in my class . While growing up I never had anyone explain to me the significance of a GPA . I didn't
There are increasing numbers of students leaving high school that are under-prepared for the next step in their life, college. Several have no idea what to expect when they leave home and enter college. Choosing where you want to attend for college is a one of the most stressful choice you have to make for your future. As a freshman in college it was difficult to choose where I wanted to attend for various reason like the learning environment and the courses offered. But after making comparisons between so many schools I chose to attend WATC. After making the transition from high school to college I, thought I was fully prepared for what college was going to be like, but instead I was wrong. When the time got closer to take my first exam for my microbiology class, I was struggling with managing my time to balancing my homework, work, friends, family, and other personal time. And as a result I received one of the worst grades I had ever gotten in a long time. Graduating with honors in high school, being on top of my class, while being involved in my school, sports, my community, and working. I started to get very worried and stressed about everything I was going through in that moment. And began to question myself if I was making the right decision for everything and I ended up realizing I needed to make changes to how well I was managing my time and making a schedule to stay on track with all my tasks. This is why I belive in order to be successful in college you must learn to manage your time by getting into the habit of developing a time schedule to help you achieve your goals. You can began by determining the goals

Yet, since I was not yet ready to join the work force, and didn’t want to disappoint my parents, I simply followed the path that I was supposed to take. For a while I had no direction, but through the loss of my high school English teacher and my dream of making my family proud, I discovered that college was the place I wanted and needed to be.

All of the students taking this course in the summer has one goal in mind, get it over with, and get a decent grade that we would be happy with. For me though, I want to achieve more than just a good mark in this class, I want to take away knowledge that will help me in furthering a career in life or helping me get through everyday situations that life will throw at me as I go through it. This course could teach me so much about who I really am if you look at it in a certain perspective because it can show you what your strengths and weaknesses are and by doing that it can help everyone improve as not only a student but a person in the real world. Goals that I want to achieve and gain in this course is to become more future-focused, encourage teamwork, prep for college and career, and gain complex thinking skills. All of these are skills that will apply into the real world for everyone to become more successful.
