Let me take the general concept of nature vs nurture, nature means innate qualities like human nature, genetics and nurture refer to care given or behavior taught by parents to children or
In social psychology when nature or nurture is mentioned this always brings up arguments and debates. It said to be dated back to Victorian era and it’s a never ending battle (Maribeth Mabanag). They argued that one of either nature or nurture was responsible for how human turned out in life. This is something no scientists have been able to prove up to these modern times. Nature is said to be things that you are acquired your from parents and you are born with such as this like you eye colour, hair texture and your nose. It is said that whatever you are born with is responsible for how you develop in life. When they speak of nurture, this deal with the effect of the environment and how it helps develop a child’s life. However, certain human traits remain a biological mystery. These traits have been studied on the "outside" but whose "inside" origins remain unclear. Such "mysterious" traits can be anything like intelligence, athletic ability, skin tone and muscle mass. So all the assumptions and
One of the oldest debates in psychology is nature versus nurture. Nature is the inborn, innate character of an organism. (Spencer A. Rathus pg. 56) Nurture is the sum total of the environmental factors that affect an organism from conception onward. (Spencer A. Rathus pg. 56) Basically nature is what you have from heredity and nurture is you environmental influences.
When we compare nature to nurture, we have to know what they mean. Nature is looking at the genetics, and the biological way you are made. Something you have usually have no control over. There have been some serial killers in
Nature or Nurture. Nature may be all of the genes and hereditary factors with which influence them to become who they are such as physical appearances and personality characteristics. Nurturing impacts people’s lives as well as how they are raised and all the environmental factors. In combination, these qualities can be the true identity of oneself. Many people may argue that nurture appears to a play huge factor in the two, but others may think otherwise. Not having both as a characteristic can have a negative effect on a person physically and mentally. The debate of nature versus nurture appears to be the oldest argument known to man, and it still remains to be unanswered. In the old-age argument nature versus nurture, nature may play a huge role in determining a person’s true identity.
Nature versus Nurture is the issue of the degree to which environment and heredity influence behavior and development. In this issue nature can be defined as, behaviors due to heredity. Which means behaviors are based on the genetic makeup of an individual and is an influence of the individuals' growth and development throughout life. On the other hand nurture are causes of behaviors that are environmental. Which means the influence is from, parents, siblings, family, friends and all other experiences to which the individual is exposed to.
Nature is when genes and DNA are linked to the development of the brain and nurture is when experiences, such as being frightened or scared, are linked to the development of the brain. One manner in which nature influences development is when genes or DNA molds a person and give predetermined roles to neurons. Examples include being born with the ability to breath, regulate temperature, etc. One manner in which nurture influences development is when we are dealing emotions. When an individual undergoes an experience, emotional connections are made.
The Johari Window is explained by a model showing the different ways of communication between yourself and others. The Johari Window goes to explain the different types of views of yourself. What you allow people to see, what you don't know that people see, what you don't let people see, and what you and others don't see. In the movie Gran Torino, the character Walt learns to allow people to see him as his true self, and not just how he allows people to see him. Which is explained using the Johari Window.
With our personalities. They will learn by experience and time. We are all born with our personalities but our behaviors are developed and learned through experience over time. The nature vs. nurture is a debate of the cultural, scientific, and
Nature Vs Nurture centers on how much of a person’s biological, cognitive, personal and social development can be attributed to either the genetic (hereditary) determinism i.e. nature or the environmental determinism i.e. nurture.
Nature theories suggest that the knowledge humans have about the world is innate. Therefore, human development is largely determined by heredity. Conversely, nurture theories suggest that it is the environment which shapes and influences
To begin with, nature is defined as the inherited characteristics that an individual has when born. The characteristics that are developed and influenced by the individual’s environment are defined as nurture. The debate of whether nature or nurture has greater influence on a person’s personality is a long-standing debate. A consensus can be reached. Nature and nurture both influence individuals, it is a subtle cooperation. Rather than the terminology being "nature versus nurture," it is nature "and" nurture. The amount of influence the factors give is not evenly distributed, rather it varies by person. A person could have a natural ability to play an instrument. This can only take them so far though, without practice they would never be able to improve/perfect their style. Nurture takes their ability to the next level.
I believe that nurture has a lot to do with the development of a human, but nature has a larger impact in determining personality traits and the make up of a person. A human is born with certain characteristics and even though their nurture may influence these characteristics to change or be enhanced, their genes have a large influence on how they will live their life.
Nature versus Nurture is a popular debate about whether our genetics, or environmental influences "mold" more of who we are. An example is whether you get your out-going personality because of your DNA, or because you grew up in an environment that made you out-going. Nature is your genes, Nurture is environmental influences.Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_argument_of_nature_vs_nurture#ixzz29QTunXP3
Popular culture was demonstrated when the granddaughter was texting during the grandmother’s funeral services; with the gang interaction and the music they played; the encounter on the corner with the Caucasian teenager walking with Sue and they were stopped by the three African American males and harassed physically and verbally with race and gender stereotypes and age when Walt came to the rescue. Walt had a quite a few verbal stereotypes for all of them in addition to using his gun to break up the conflict. Popular culture
The concept of nature versus nurture is that human behaviour is influenced by genetic information inherited from our parents and also by environmental and social influences.
