From the Grand Canyon trip I learned that not everything goes as planned. Becca and I getting our bags searched moments before the plane left, Lucci catching a sudden fever, and more showed me that you need to be flexible when things don’t go right. For the Costa Rica trip I am prepared to be cooperative in the face of change. Another thing that will be useful on this trip is my constant (and contagious) enthusiasm. This means that whenever the group is feeling tired I’ll probably be the one to lighten the mood.
Initially, I was drawn to this trip because I’ve never been to Costa Rica or so far away from home. Now after doing some research, I realize there’s a lot more to this trip than I thought. For example; I had completely forgotten about
It is known for its Pacific ocean beaches, surf spots and mountainous landscape. It is named “the savior” and is the largest coffee exporters in the world. In fact, it is the only country in Central America that does not have a coastline on the Caribbean Sea. El Salvador is a Spanish-speaking country in South America, and this is the country I will be traveling to. El Salvador is the most misunderstood country of them all. Some people say that it is quite dangerous while others say it’s quite boring compared to the rest of Central America. Most visitors say El Salvador is not safe and this is because the lack of mass tourism equals lack of information. This is the reason I chose El Salvador to travel to. This vibrant nation is very tropical with rich forests and fertile farmlands. From Volcanoes and crater lakes to surfing and Wildlife, it’s filled to the top with so many things to do! El Salvador has so many things to offer and I am eager to explore it.
Costa Rica is a very beautiful and unique place. It was my first time going there and I loved it! It was much different than the United States in ways I didn’t mind or even enjoyed. We saw many things and went many places while we were down there. I am ready to go back again already and do new, exciting things. However, we did a lot while we were down there.
I started this journey filled with nervous excitement and anticipation of traveling without my family to a foreign land. On my return trip I thought of what extravagant lifestyles we Americans live. If I had never traveled to Costa Rica I think I would still be taking things for granted and I learned to appreciate what I have. The Costa Ricans had very little, but they made the absolute best of what they did have. They are very different from us, Americans because our happiness comes from material objects. They were pleased with being able to share their knowledge, culture and language with us. As the Costa Ricans say Pura Vida meaning pure
It's significant to me because when I went with my family to Cartagena, I was 7 years old. it was the first time I was going on a trip outside of the United States. when we got to Cartagena I was amazed by how beautiful everything is, and I was shocked with how different it was from back home. The differences I saw sparked a curiosity in me, that I never knew existed. from that moment I fell in love with learning about different places around the world and the culture that comes with that place. the trip to Cartagena was also the first time I got to see some of my family members. I have always lived in Florida and only knew about the family members I had in South America through what my parents would say about them. When we arrived to South
Hello again, Alexa here, back in my home town safe and sound. Words cannot express how grateful and blessed I truly am to have had your financial and prayer support these past six months! Costa Rica has been not only an adventure, but also a journey. It was an adventure because I was able to go somewhere with a new culture, different ideas, and unfamiliar faces. The foreign aspect of the trip allowed me to place my total trust in God. I ventured up mountains and played fútbol (soccer) in the dirt. I served in villages so dangerous, even ambulances were instructed not to go in and help. I witnessed little ones cry tears of joy when they were given a soccer ball to keep but also their eyes light up with excitement when I taught them how to apply temporary tattoos! Moreover, Costa Rica was a journey because of what i underwent spiritually throughout my time there serving. I was humbled and made more culturally aware especially in regards to the needs and struggles Costa Ricans face everyday. The second day in Costa Rica we spent at a church in a secluded village near the valleys. Each of us had a station whether it be face painting, passing out bags of different foods (rice, tuna, vegetables, beans, and other canned foods), dancing, craft making, or just playing ball with the boys. I was instructed to apply temporary tattoos on the children. Many of the tattoo designs included the well known Jesus fish with words like Faith or Hope. I would say "Quieres solo," or Do you want
A few years ago, my family and I traveled to Puerto Rico for winter break vacation. Our resort was located on an island off of the mainland so it was necessary that we take a boatride. The island was beautiful and desolate. It was full of beaches, fields, and mountains and our stay was filled with exploring the island. For the first few days, I explored the island primarily with my dad. In the middle of the island lay the main attraction, a large, hikeable mountain. We climbed to the top until we reached the peak. We sat down at a gazebo and enjoyed the 360 degree views of the island.
From my point of view, the idea of helping other outside Costa Rica will be an experience like no other. Sharing with another culture, experience a different way of living in a foreign country, travel to a country I will barely visit, influence my
The instrumental concept of the passage is related to different usage of the Chaco Canyon's buildings. However, every one of these usages are questioned by the lecturer. In the ensuing paragraphs, the lecturer reasoning for each of the passage’s claims are discussed in details.
My father was able to see his sister that he hasn’t seen in over twenty years, and my brother, mother, and I were able to see family that we’ve never even known about. This trip was an unforgettable experience, because we bonded in a way where you can feel a certain love which is unexplainable. As we left Puerto Rico, the coquis were still with their melody. I ended up taking a souvenir home with me which mimicked their sound. I remember leaving Puerto Rico and singing along with the coquis, since I was so used to hearing them every single night. I can honestly say, Puerto Rico has been an incredible life changing experience that will never be
This is something intresting because in coming 10-15 days (on August 10’ 2017), me & my husband are going for a vacation to Dominican Republic (Punta Cana). So I am so much excited to write about this in this exam. After very long time we both are planning for a vacation. This is an official tour of my husband but he extended his tour from Aug 13’ 2017- Aug 16’ 2017 to Aug 10’ 2017- Aug 16’ 2017, so that we can have more time together to spend & enjoy. It’s a really beautyful place to relax & refresh or you can say reenergise yourself.
With the given opportunity, I Tabitha Bone, think that the trip through the Fountain Central Future Farmers of America group would be beneficial to not only my growing desire in the field of being a professional translator, but also, the passion I have for not only the language of Spanish, but the desire I have to visit a Spanish-speaking country. The opportunity of going to Belize will give me a greater understanding of Hispanic culture because I plan on minoring in linguistics. I want to further my understanding of these intricate and diverse cultures to help me in my emminent future career. My understanding of Hispanic culture is vital to my future career. I like learning new things and I am an adventurist. I love anything exotic, fun, or interesting. I love learning about new things and I relish the thought of world travel. I delight in new cultures and mythology, and I wish to go to Belize to experience all of the indigenous sights and
Gaze upon a country with luscious rainforest and beautiful architectural buildings as far as the eyes can see. Talk to locals who are more than welcome to help a stranger in need and experience the wonderful culture and cuisine. Let’s take a step into a new world filled with excitement and cultural adventure or better known as Costa Rica.
Costa Rica provided me with a fresh, inspiring, and eye-opening portal into the world of South America. My time in Costa was filled with self-love, self-acceptance and self- appreciation. I experienced so much growth, discomfort, confusion, compassion, generosity, exhaustion, and most abundantly, love. Beautiful workshops; some teaching me about the power of my yoni, others focusing on the knowledge of the self and the core that each individual must return to within their own body and soul. Indian temple and body appreciation dance classes, and every single beautiful artist and individual that graced me with their
Costa Rica 2013- My first real out of the country experience. It’s spring break and my family and I are going to Costa Rica. I have been to the Bahamas for a week when I was really young, and I’ve gone to Canada, our neighbor to the north, many times. This is cooler, I am eleven now, basically a teenager. I deplane the aircraft, somewhat unwillingly since I was in the middle of the movie. My eyes were glued to the animation on the screen plastered to the seat in front of me. Outside, it is dark, but when i get out, I expect a dense rainforest. I expect a toucan sitting in a tree to the left. I expect trees that tower to the heavens.
In the world there are many places people think of as dream locations to live. The South American country Costa Rica is considered a dream location because of their lush rainforests and ecosystems that leave tourists in awe, the country having the highest economy in any central america and their steady peaceful governing system. However all nations have their own downfalls in their country even though there appearances seem only well and a beautiful place to live. What outsiders don't see in the Costa Rica may be the high unemployment rates and lack of authority about human rights for Women and young girls.
