When comparing the two artworks it is clear that nursing is the main focus of each piece. They both depict a nurse in a long gown with a cap and some sort of apron or cape. Both pieces show what goes into being a nurse. The piece by Grant shows the compassion that’s needed and the piece by Perez shows the technical side, with the taking of the vitals and the helping to feed the patient. That’s as far as the comparison goes for these two pieces. There was more differentiating these two pieces than there was to compare. The piece by Grant is a form of water color, whereas the piece by Perez is a painting. Grant’s painting highlights two main characters while leaving the rest of the painting muttled while in greys, in contrast to Perez’s painting
Even though the paintings came from different time periods the artists both used some of the same principles. Both artists used lighting throughout their paintings to depict the variety of colors and apply the use of contrast. Looking at the building, mountain and clouds in the background of Tribute Money you're able to see a variety of shapes and the emphasis it adds to the
With the invention of the camera came the desire for realism. The world was changing and it was happening fast. Fast enough that people were being over looked as business and the need for natural materials lead the way. Through war in France came realism and it caused discomfort at the sight of unpleasant looking locals and grim topics, such as death. Artists were really on top of their game with the material added in their paintings that represented serious political issues and issues with the church. If I had not read about the paintings I would not have looked at them in a more serious light. I would have continued to believe these were relaxed beautiful paintings of people in the 1800's. Even the painting of Rue Transnonain by Honoré was
Physically, both pieces of literature are different. Each story reflects its own writer as “The Santa Ana” has lengthy paragraphs, chock full of information. Didion is an American Author known for her literary journalism and use of logos. At a glance of the piece, it lists of reasonings and details is clearly visible. Each paragraph is filled with descriptions and
In the year of 1656 Velázquez painted his famous painting called Las Meninas. Picasso made 58 renditions of Velázquez painting but the certain rendition that I am focusing on is the Las Meninas (Infanta Margarita). This painting was made by Picasso in 1957. There are differences and there are similarities between the two paintings. So in my essay I will be writing about four similarities and four differences between the two paintings and why Velázquez and Picasso created these paintings. In the two paintings there are multiple differences from each other. Here are four differences from the paintings. First, the princess in the Picasso is way larger and more of a focus than in the Velázquez painting. Picasso may have done this to really emphasize the point that the princess was important. Secondly, the princess is shown to be different colors and that she is wearing clothes that are different colors. In the Picasso painting her face is blue, green, white, dark gray, black and she has a red eye. The dress that she is wearing is mostly yellow but some parts of the dress are white, black, blue, and red. Why Picasso added so many different colors to the dress that when Velázquez made it in 1656 he kept the princess’s dress mostly white with a little red and black, is a question that nobody knows but there are many theories. I believe that Picasso did this because colors have positive and negative connotations, and since that is true he used the colors to represent how the
To add on from the concrete dissimilarities of both author’s interpretations. Both pieces also have conflicting moral and this can be derived from the fact that the pieces were written in different time periods and two totally different authors. It is evident that both authors drew
Frank Romero’s Chicano art served as a point of communication that illustrated the role of Chicano culture in Los Angeles, and also drew attention to the social and political implications that manifested on the behalf of the rise of this cultural perspective. Throughout his career, he produced works such as “the police brutality series” which drew attention to political issues, and works like “Going to the Olympics” and “History of the Chicano,” which illustrated the beauty and pride of Chicanos in LA. Moreso, the paintings “La Llorona” and “El Teatro Campesino” displayed the origins of chicanismo and the cultural affiliations that originated in Latin America.
The murals depicted what we have been talking in class since the beginning of the first week. They were just a graphic representation of the struggle of the Chicano Movement and the Chicana Feminism. The painting on the wall showed that the Chicano History was more that a simple fact it was alive and it is still alive. I think that all the painting there was an expression of what Moraga call re-membering. Even though, I am not part of the chicano community, throughout those painting, I feel like I was re-membering the struggle that they faced at this time. I understood where the story started from and where it is going.
The piece that was chosen was a cast bronze sculptor called “Mantime” in the American Painting and Sculptors exhibition from the El Paso Art Museum. This piece was created by Harry Geffert in 1995. Geffert is an American sculptor who was born in Live Oak County, Texas in 1934. As of today he lives and works at Crowely, Texas. Geffert has a Master degree from New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, New Mexico and a Bachelor’s degree in South West Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Harry Geffert is mostly known for his sculptors; and continues to create them as of today. (Worley, 2011)
Raymond Pettibon art work, Untitled (The bright flatness), on page 535 fig 25-35 shows a tiny surfer in an enormous wave in a California landscape. The subject matter is a large wave that a surfer is riding. The content of the artwork could be how people are a small compared to the big world we live in. I think this piece of art was painted on with watercolor and a type of paper. These lines in the artwork is very loose and free. These lines in the artwork reminds me of Vincent van Gogh, The Starry Night lines in his artwork which are loose ,but the viewer can tell what the meaning of the picture is. In the artwork Untitled (The bright flatness) colors mostly used were the primary colors blue and red. The surfer is red and the waves of the ocean is blue. The wave color could be a local color that the viewers know the ocean color is blue. The blue color has different tints from dark blue to light blue. The wave in the art is three dimensional it represents the wave as if it was being seen in an ocean. In the picture, there is a highlight where the ocean has lighter white spots throughout the wave. Another highlight would be

For my Original Project that I am planning on redoing is an acrylic painting that I did back in 8th grade as a creative response for the book stargirl. It was a bulky flower with four word on the petals.
I believe we identify artists in men not only when we feel they have been marked by emotion, but when they manage to convey those emotions to someone else - through their experience, that is the direct result of their work. The more mirror-like the piece is, the more the observer will see their world reflected in the work of art.
O: There is a bunch of cigarettes inside a McDonald's fry container. There is exactly twenty five cigarettes inside the container, but two of them are bent outwards.
Early man created art for various reason which is still under discussion today. I want you to re-create one of the paintings from Lascaux using roughly the same materials that early man used to create the wall drawings. Under #art100parrotone, you will find the links you will need to complete the project.
Velaquez made his painting Las Meninas and so did Picasso. Picasso put his own style and take on the artwork and made it one of his own. You wouldn’t even think they were one bit related with that Picasso did to modernize to his standards. Many people to this day and still wondering what these paintings mean and why Picasso decided to remake this one. During this essay I will be answering these questions and more. Both of these paintings have some similarities even though it doesn’t look like it. They both have a girl in the painting. For Picasso the girl is the main thing in his. Another similarity between these 2 paintings is the background. Both of these artworks have dull and blackish background while the front has the most color. They both also show the princess having something in her hand. In Picasso’s it is easier to see this unlike in Velazquez painting.Just like everything else in this world not everything is exactly alike. There is bound to be differences. Both of these paintings unique have many differences like the colors for example. Picasso chose brighter colors that makes it pop. Unlike how Velaquez painting has very dull colors. The amount of people in the painting is also another difference. Picasso only has one person in his while Velazquez has a ton of people in his artwork. Velazquez even threw in a dog with his painting. Velazquez painting looks very realistic unlike how Picasso’s looks like a bunch of geometric shapes were
