I have chosen to write about one of my favorite alternative rock band, Red Hot Chili Peppers from Los Angeles, California. My decision was based upon two things; one being I like the band, while the other was to learn if some of their music is sending the wrong message to our young people. I personally would not consider myself music sappy; never have I really been given a chance to listen to music as I grew up, to find what I like. As of today, I don’t know who sings what song nor really know what the lyric’s mean. With today’s environment young people are given a chance to be inspired by different kinds of media; thus giving them the opportunity to actually find out what the artist is meaning behind the songs. This book brings you on the journey of each member’s journey. Bassist Nikki Sixx lived a life revolving around girls, drugs, alcohol, and rock and roll. With having his mom arrested at age 14 and attempting to stealing his first bass guitar only to realize it was a regular electric guitar Nikki Sixx grew up challenging the laws. Guitarist Mick Mars was into music from a young age where as time progressed he started writing down all his ideas in a notebook such as there band name Mötley Crüe just in a different form. Drummer Tommy Lee grew up a more comforted childhood receiving a snare drum for Christmas buying the rest on his own later. Tommy joined the school drum line where he learned tricks and stuff to do with drumsticks and drums. After skipping school and misbehaving his parents moved and he met Vince at his new school. Vocalist Vince Neil lived the rock star life even in high school where he was a legend and already in a band. Not only does this book take you on a journey of the members but also it takes you on a journey of their struggles. Mötley Crüe struggled to become famous due to the New Wave music, which they later helped kill off at the US Festival. The band struggled even more with getting a record deal then with becoming famous. No record company wanted to sign this band of degenerates who are playing rock and metal music when what was in was New Wave. Mötley Crüe very often struggled with fights and criticism for what they look like and how they sing. Their other major fight that they constantly battled was girls, with abusive girlfriends like Honey and Bullwinkle. Many great performers have come out of the jazz industry, but the most widely known is Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong. Louis began playing at a young age when he was growing up in New Orleans. His greatest inspiration was Joe “King” Oliver. He began following him and eventually Oliver became Armstrong’s mentor. Armstrong practiced his instrument and eventually he became the jazz great everyone knows today. Armstrong’s unique singing and masterful improvisation transitioned jazz from the traditional style to a newer, more rhythmic style. He popularized scat singing and was the first musician to have his solo on a recording (Rodgers 85). The solos Armstrong performed along with his popular scat singing helped make jazz musicians more popular along with making the fans take notice of Armstrong and jazz itself (Rennert 8).

A photographer was also present and a picture was taken of Armstrong while he was shaving, as he was getting ready for a gig. The following day Armstrong's words and picture made front page news around the world. Though he had finally spoken out after years of remaining publicly silent, he received criticism at the time from both black and white public figures. Other people of colour musicians such as Sammy Davis Junior said not to listen to Armstrong as he did not represent the black community. Although Armstrong experienced racism and segregation he was not treated as harshly compared to other people of colour musicians at this time. This greatly upset Louis Armstrong the most as he felt he had done so much for his own race and that he had never been appreciated for it. Many people do not realize what it means to be a musician, much less a famous musician. You need to be smart, talented and charasmatic. Dave grohl has achieved all three of these things. He has completed the goals of many young men, including myself. Dave has been in many successful bands and written and performed multiple hit songs. Dave Grohl Has many admirable attributes but considering my time constraints, I will only touch a few of them.

After marrying Daisy, he divorced her, and he married and divorced two more times. His other ex -wives include Lil Hardin Armstrong (1924-1938) and Alpha Smith (1938-1942). He stayed with Lucille Wilson until 1942-1971 (his death year).Meanwhile, Louis Armstrong’s music career started to blossom. In 1918, he replaced Oliver in Kid Ory’s band (the most popular band at that time). In 1919, Armstrong played on riverboats with a band led by Fate Marable. In 1922, he got a call from King Oliver to come to Chicago and join his Creole band on second cornet. He made his first recordings with Oliver on April 5, 1923. He had a lasting inspiration on singers after him, including Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday, and many more. He appeared on Broadway, and movies, and went on a tour in 1933, but this is when his career fell apart. Years of hitting the high notes with his trumpet had ruined his lips, and as this was happening he got into a fight with Johnny Collins. Armstrong was still in highschool when he first began playing gigs but he eventually dropped out. He performed at small punk clubs with his group which included John Kiffmeyer on drums at the time. The band eventually made hits with Lookout! Records, an independent label, and Green Day put out their first EP in 1989. When Kerplunk was released, Billie Joe and his band had made an unbreakable bond of friendship. The success of the album Kerplunk helped the band get big record labels. Green Day had another hit with the album Dookie. As the popularite for Green Day’s smooth pop-punk sound grew, millions of people would come to see their concerts and always want a chance to see it again. When Green Day is live, their shows would be so upbeat. Fans would be up on stage and they would sometimes sing the songs themselves. In 2004, Armstrong wrote another hit album which lead for more success for Armstrong and his crew. Before the release of the three albums Uno, Dos, Tre, Armstrong was struggling with alcohol, pills, and sleep. The September Uno, Dos, Tre came, Green Day performed at an Music festival in Los Vegas, Armstrong had a huge burst out on stage. After this, He
